My colleague and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Quail Rest Cottage during a work trip. Despite our packed schedule we really enjoyed the little time spent here over the weekend. The cottage itself was a haven of cleanliness and comfort. After long work hours, coming back to a well-maintained and cozy space was a relief. The off-the-grid setup was impressive, we're all for sustainability. What stood out the most was the excellent communication from our host, Sonja. She was prompt, clear, and made the check-in and check-out process a breeze. It's clear that she takes great pride in maintaining the property and ensuring her guests have a pleasant stay. In conclusion, our stay at Quail Rest was a refreshing escape from our work routine. The next time I'm in the area on holiday, I won't hesitate to book again. It's a place that deserves to be experienced at a leisurely pace, and I'm looking forward to doing just that.

Peace and quiet. Having a fireplace is really nice. BBQ is also lovely. Sonja the host is also lovely and communication went great at all times. Will for sure return in summer to experience it differently.

Everything was nice. If I wanted to go to details, perhaps the hoven needed some cleaning, but we didn't use it so.

Quails Rest was absolutely amazing and Sonja was a fantastic host! Highly recommend if you want to switch off and relax! Stunning scenery and great facilities.

The property is off the beaten track an in a private location near the lake. The view is more of the farm with the lake in the background, but this made for a very relaxing outlook for the large windows and porch. The property had everything you need for an enjoyable stay.

The property is off grid and you need to conserve power, which may be a minor nuisance in the cooler months. There was virtually no toilet paper on arrival and the property is 25km from the nearest town. The host addressed the problem when we advised of the problem the next morning. The host is also unable to take American Express and this is not stated when booking. We were able to resolve it, but Booking.com was of the view that our credit card was rejected and problematic, rather than understanding that it was a problem at the host's end. All resolved within a few days.

The place is in a perfect location surrounded by mountain, lake and trees. The house itself is cozy and clean. The hosts were very easy to communicate with and considerate.

Nothing really. Just need to remember to bring some milk for coffee or tea as that was not made available. Not a big deal as we were only there overnight.

Quail Rest was a lovely base to explore Aoraki Mt Cook and the surrounding areas. The location was stunning with lake views and the magnificent vista of the alps from the verandah. The cabin is very comfortable and warm, with a well-equipped kitchen, great shower and comfy bed. Clear skies at night are lovely for stargazing. Fabulous place to stay.
