The location, amazing property, the hosts and the staff.
The local cooked food was interesting and tasty.
The overall ambience was great!
The payment amount came as a BIG surprise! They included additional charges (which I have not paid in any of my bookings on Booking.com across the globe)

Very good food
Nice place in the city
beautiful decoded
You can get nothing to drink:
No soda, coke or sprite and the is no beer or wine.
There is a nice site but there is really noting!
Watch out with let them arrange things. To go back to the station they ask 1000 irn for two tuk-tuks that is more than 2 times the price!

This property has to be one of the best experiences in Varanasi. The owners of the estate themselves host all guests. It feels like you're their actual guests at the property.
The caretaker, Ranjit, was a charm. He went out of his way to ensure we had a great time and were armed with all the knowledge to make the best of our stay in the city.
The other call out goes out to Mr. Prasann Raghav, an extremely knowledgeable gentleman who took us on a walking tour of the ancient city. We went to Kashi to seep ourselves in the history of this great land, and we were not disappointed.
The royal matriarch of the estate came to greet us during breakfast, and realised in conversation that we were there for the history (and not the religion) of the city. She is the one who called Prasann, a friend of the family, to be our guide for the day.
Oh yea, make sure you eat the food here!
We have come out with the best memories from our stay here, and would like to thank all those who were involved in the process.
There was nothing to dislike

Excellent location, charming heritage building, beautiful garden on the banks of the Ganges next to a temple, peaceful and well away from the noisy horns but close enough to stroll through old Varanasi lanes. Lovely, helpful staff.
More of a bed and breakfast guest house rather than a hotel. Gate is locked at 9 pm , which we did not know about. Was tricky to get someone to phone to let us in - ended up asking a neighbour who kindly obliged… didn’t help that I was bursting for the loo with Delhi Belly! 😣🤪

Staying at the Panchkote feels more like being welcomed as a family guest than a hotel, comprising of 5 guestrooms at the heart of a family compound. You can view the Ganges from the rooftop or from the terrace and there is a temple on the grounds as well as a private ghat descending to the riverside (the staff will need to unlock this for you). You will be welcomed with courtesy into delightful, fragrant guestrooms.
Breakfast was delicious, in a traditional Indian style, and I recommend that you dine here on at least one evening as the dinner was excellent. Everything is fresh and high quality.
The courtyard, gardens and terraces provide a beautiful setting to relax away from the crowds of the city.
Staff will be ready to assist and advise throughout your stay. Early or late check out can be arranged with the staff for reasonable rates, subject to their booking schedule.
Access to the property is a little hard to find and the sign at the entrance is unclear so our taxi driver was confused. Additionally, you will need to phone the staff if you are out after dark, we found this out the hard way when we were locked out.

The staff who look after us are superb, interesting and interested. They provide a great insight into the Ives of their community and the resin we returned here. Location is also truly amazing for Varanasi, living in a very privileged environment which is a tranquil paradise on the Ganges itself.

Excellent location with a private Ghat and wonderful tasty breakfast prepared by the energetic and ever helpful caretaker Ranjith....and excellent hospitality by Jyotishwari. The only shock was the extra pricing done by booking.com...we had to shell out almost 3000 extra. Would advise travellers to check first about booking.com charges and not be mislead by the smooth facade and talk by booking.com. Property charges were ok...booking.com was pricey.
The extra charges by booking.com....we didnt know about it...it was added later to the bill.

Location is exceptional, Staff, ambience too good.
Food though fixed menu very homely and tasty. Pvt river bank area is added attraction.
Excellent collection artefacts and well placed.
The approach to the property is very narrow, confusing and not neat.
We felt the property is over rated in terms of value for money.
Additional food expenses are horoundously expensive.
As they don't accept credit cards one has to carry loads of cash.
The surroundings of property is kept neat and tidy.

Superb location (right on the Ghat), amazing hospitality and excellent value for money! Special thanks to Mrs. Ruchi Singh Deo (owner) and her daughter who were exceptionally warm and ensured that everything was in order and taken care of. The staff Ranjit and his colleague were always smiling and super helpful. The breakfast that we had was lip-smacking !! Playing with Muffin (owners pet dog) was an additional bonus. Strongly recommend this gem to anyone visiting Benaras as one of the best value for money stays in the city.
We surely found our perfect home for all our future visits to the city!!
Some guests may miss that there are no TV's in the rooms (though we preferred it that way).
The rooms do not have a direct view of the Ganges but there is unrestricted view from the courtyard which is 30 mts away.
Some taxis may drop/pick-up only till Shivala Rd which is 250-300 mts from property which is true for almost ALL properties near Ghats as the lanes are narrow. Hotel can arrange pickup and drop in their own vehicle from there.

Location is incredibly quiet, surrounded by a garden that passes to a quiet nearby temple. little bit rustic which makes the stay even more home-like. no place like that in Varanasi I would bet. Pricier than other options in Varanasi but totally worth the money.
and the food… the best I had in India, probably, so far. take a dinner, reasonably priced, and you have an even better sleep then. for the food itself, I would give them 11 if it was possible. giving the high score I know might be a mistake as I will never be able to return with short notice anymore, but the deserve every single point of the 10.
having to leave :)

Amazingly beautiful place with a private ghat..we could not experience it as we went right after monsoons and the water level was high. It's a small boutique place run by mom and daughter duo. Extremely accommodating and helpful. The staff too was extremely courteous. The rooms are tastefully done and there is ample place to roam around even within the property. The place also houses a kali mata temple which is very quiet and peaceful. This is a vegetarian place and the Food was simple yet flavourful. Rates of the meals are slightly premium considering other places on varanasi.
The approach maybe a put off for people. The approach lane is narrow and can be only reached by walking. Normal cans drop you till a point then then you have to walk almost half a km to reach the place, but if you call for a cab through the hotel it comes at the door step.

The food was amazing and the hotel very charming. We were sorry to leave. Right on the Ganges, fabulous spot.

The decor was tasteful. The owner was caring and helpful.
Mosquitoes in the daytime. Milk sachets were expired. The tea kettle's light was not working. Breakfast should be served earlier. Changing of towels and toiletries was not regulated.

The property is absolutely stunning and silent. Feels like a refuge particularly during Diwali. We were welcomed by a lady owner who has been very helpful and provided us support when needed. The breakfast is excellent. The tour guide offered by the hotel was lovely. The room has the basic things you need, well equipped. I enjoyed the furniture in the property.
We had wished that essential information would be provided at the check-in, such as the property not accepting cards. There aren’t many ATMs in town, and the limit of withdrawal for foreigners is low, 10.000, so this was a real hassle for us to sort out on the last day. Also, the property apparently has dogs which we didn’t see and they took my sandals and destroyed them. I wish this information would be provided to the guests who prefer to keep their rooms shoes-free and clean. Finally, on Booking.com it says 48m2 but it’s no more than 20m2. Perhaps that’s a typo.
