While the pictures are accurate, they do not do justice to the beauty of the property and coziness of the cabin. The view of the grounds, from the bed, waking up in the morning was just awesome. You have the sounds of the rainforest all of the time. Our girls loved the loft, and it really made a seemingly small space not feel crowded at all for a family of 4. Easy 10 minute drive into La Fortuna. I'll be day dreaming of our morning coffees on the patio for years to come. If you're on the fence, just book it, you won't be sorry.

Beautiful grounds with lots of room, plants, trees, bamboo, a duck pond, a stream. Perfect area in general. Arenal is visible from the street. There were lots of different birds and animals passing through occasionally. The cabin itself has A/C and was super cozy, I slept super well. The only complaint is that there were too many cameras all around the outside of the house, bit of an overkill, wasn't as comfortable with that, would have felt more private with just one or two facing the entryway.

We loved our stay here! 10/10 would recommend if you're looking for a non-hotel option to call home at the end of a day of adventures. It's just the right amount of secluded and off the beaten path, while still feeling safe and incredibly homey. It has everything you need inside, we loved the screened in porch to relax on at the end of the night too. It gets quite toasty inside while you're gone without the AC on but luckily there are two ACs to really pump out the cold air and cool things off. There were only two of us so we did not need the additional beds, but just note the other beds are upstairs in a loft that requires climbing up a wall attached (and very hardy) ladder to get to. Probably not great (safe) for young kids but perfectly suitable for teens+. Just something to keep in mind. We hope to stay here again in the future, should we come back to La Fortuna. Love the property. All kinds of birds. There was a running creek and a pond which allowed us to be serenaded by frogs at night. Everything was well kept up. Neighborhood felt safe at night. Found a little café in La Fortuna that specialized in chocolate, Absolutely delicious there.

Pros: Lovely creek runs along back of property bordering on jungle, with gravel pathways around perimeter of property. When pathways are accessed in the dark use a flashlight, due to debris and quite dark at night. A large stand of bamboo provides cooling shade but drops lots of foliage. We saw a couple of frogs at night. We enjoyed good WIFI connection. Dining table and chairs are indoors as well as king size bed. The bed is very soft, yet comfortable. Safe is large enough for laptop computer. Kitchen has many appliances, utensils, and dishes. Cons: Gated driveway does not lock. Saturday afternoon awaken from nap by woman looking for dentist. Sunday morning found 2 workers on property unannounced. We were not informed. Sent email for instructions on cooktop, received response over 24 hours later and apology about woman. The property has security cameras, but we did not feel very secure. Sofa, chairs are on screened porch, but the temperature was 35c/95F on most days too hot to enjoy. We sat on the porch early morning, 0600 otherwise morning sun shone in. No hot water in the kitchen, but microwave is close and was able to heat water in the microwave. Thankfully the home is air conditioned but is not very cool in the daytime. The air conditioner cools ok at night. This is our first trip this time of year, we usually travel to this area in the Fall. Maybe it is cooler in the Fall. Beautiful, Private, Secluded, well maintained spacious grounds filled with all the sights remarkable sounds of this wilderness area, minutes from fabulous La Fortuna Town Center. We delighted in the sounds especially around sunset, as the place came alive with nature, but no mosquitos! Just about 3km from town we found our place delightful in every way. The remarkable team at Home Vacations and House of Tours went above and beyond to make our stay special and memorable. Our stay was great, our tours delightful, educational and exhilarating. Our kids loved staying in this cabin! The property is absolutely amazing, with a pond, a creek and a giant bamboo bush, etc. lots to explore. Our favorite thing was listening to the sounds of the rain forest around you at sunset. It is really an enchanting and beautiful property. The cabin is represented well by the pictures, small but functional and comfortable. It's a really well built cabin. The AC worked, the water system is good, the lockbox was a nice security feature. The King bed was a little soft for our liking (perhaps an individual preference) and veranda chairs were not super comfortable to sit in for any extended length of time. The main negative on this place however is the inversion range. It sort of works, but not like it should. It took us nearly 2hrs to cook pasta on it the first night as it doesn't keep constant heat and the control pannel locks up. We were tired and hungry from the day and would rather have spent the evening doing something more than fiddling with a stove and waiting for water to boil. If not for this I would have rated the place 5 stars. It is about 10-15min from Lafortuna, so a car is esential for this stay. Overal, if you are not planning to cook much, this is a great value, but beware of the stove top.
