This is a wonderful home, right on the beach. Very private access to the ocean and virtually no people but us. It is a distance from activities and the north shore but we preferred this. The air conditioning in the bedrooms was a plus. This home had everything you could need. If you're debating, stay here. You'll love your time.

We had our first family trip, along with grandparents to oahu. We wanted to stay at a home that was private and right on the beach.
This property was exactly what we were looking for you. You walk out the back gate and you are right on the sand; granted There are tide pools there, so it's not a swimable beach, but still the sound of the ocean the waves crashung, watching the sea turtles every night, seeing whales was absolutely priceless. The house is beautifully Set up with plenty of room for all. They have everything you can think of between coffee makers to kitchenware to snorkeling gear. Boogie boards very well prepped. The one thing that took us a little off guard was how far on the West side of the island it is; so really you're about 40 minutes to an hour drive from any other part of the island which as long as you accommodate for is fine, but you will be spending a lot of time-traveling seeing the beautiful sights of hawaii.

Property was as advertised and far enough away from the hustle and bustle that you can truly relax and enjoy time away. For those who are more of the hustle and bustle type Honolulu is only about a 40 minute drive with all the bells and whistles.

The home was nice, but not as nice as the pictures indicate. It is very far from clean, well stocked grocery stores and there were no nice restaurants in the area - they were at least 15 miles away.

Well where do I start. The views were beautiful. The ocean views were spectacular. We couldn't believe all the wild life we saw in the ocean right behind the house. The trip was a ten out of ten.

We enjoyed our stay. Lots of room for 3 adult sized children. Big, open well-stocked kitchen, beautiful views from the backyard of the ocean. Although not on a swimmable beach, there was one within walking distance. Lots of extra towels & linens. Need a vehicle to get to grocery store/restaurants.

Property was better than photos or description! A true piece of heaven on earth. Will definitely be back!!!

The house was great. My family really enjoyed our vacation! The views were classic Hawaii textbook pictures - gorgeous. The parking was limited. Only one large vehicle fit in the driveway, and the other had to be parked on the street. I’m not sure if it’s just the time of year we visited but the house was only partially air conditioned, and it could get uncomfortable some days while cooking lunch/dinner. It’s a bit far to most activities.

Beautiful!
A lovely house in a beautiful location; what a treat to watch turtles feed in the surf crashing on the lava rocks in front of the house.
The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars in "accuracy of online listing" is due to the fact that the house isn't "directly on the beach," but on the beautiful but jagged and difficult to navigate rocks just beyond the north end of the beach. If you're carrying anything more than a towel around your neck, it's easier, safer, faster, and less wet to walk down the street a few minutes and access the beach from the road.
Beaches change all the time, and this one was a bit steep below the high tide line when we were there, but although the surf looked big, we found the waves crumbled instead of crashed, which made for fun body surfing. And of course, the turtles were swimming along with us! There were also a couple of hikes with great views within a few minute's drive of the house.
The drive to Ko’olina was a pretty consistent 25 minutes (except on the last day on the drive to the airport when we got behind an accident near the electric plant, and then it took a full hour). So just plan accordingly, leaving plenty of time for unknowns.
The house itself was very clean, the king beds extremely comfortable, and the grill worked great, with two extra propane tanks provided. The back yard opening onto the rocks was a beautiful place to play paddle ball or throw a football, and my son loved the cat that hung around the entire time but never tried to come inside.
The neighborhood was quiet (except on Saturday night!) and the neighbors quiet. The smell of marijuana wafted through the neighborhood on and off day and night, but wasn't bothersome--I felt like I'd been plopped down in a Peter Mayle novel set in Hawaii instead of rural France--this is NOT a touristy place, at least it wasn't in the spring of 2022, with all the reality that that brings with it: quiet, a nearly empty beach, and lower grocery prices than on Maui, but also tent communities (not on Princess Beach though) and at least one pedestrian sighted each time we drove through town who appeared homeless and was walking erratically along the roadside--I've since read there's a meth problem around here--which is sad, but it only directly affected us in that we drove even more carefully than usual.
Don't plan on swimsuit shopping north of Ko’olina, although the local dive shop at the marina was super helpful with snorkel gear rental!

Oahu Wedding and Vacation
We were looking for a nice place close to the beach for our family to stay at during our daughter's wedding and our vacation. The house was absolutely beautiful. It had everything that we needed for our 2 week stay. The only thing we had to add was groceries. The house is on the beach with the ocean right in your backyard. The only drawback was the rocky access to the beach directly behind the house. Luckily, we found the public access a few houses over and the beach was pretty much private. The weather was absolutely generous and access to other posts of the island was very easy. The only drawback was the rush hour traffic getting back to this side of town. It just meant you had to plan accordingly.

Sun,sand and turtles!
Property and what it offered was excellent, great location for turtle watching! Had everyone needed and more! Neighbourhood -as mentioned by others -did seem to have tension between locals and visitors- but we felt safe enough.

Holiday trip
Amazing property! Biannual trip and found this gem this year. Could not be happier with the amenities, location and direct ocean access. Everything was as advertised and then some. Parking is tight if you have two vehicles but worth the ocean front view and spectacular sunsets! Leeward side of the island is our absolute favorite and is close to our Ohana. Would definitely recommend and we hope to be back at this property on our next biannual visit. Mahalo!!!

Makaha get away
Been coming to Makaha all my life and staying at the Hawaiian princess. When this house became available I was stoked. Everything was up to par. We will continue to book this house for as long as it's available. Thanks for the memories.

Awesome family vacation
Stayed in this property with my family of 5 and my sister’s family of 5. This house was enjoyable for all! Full disclosure, Makaha is along Waianae and is locally known as the “rough” side of the island. Getting to this property will include traveling through some less than desirable areas and traffic can be a challenge as Waianae has only 1 way in and out; a fender bender can cause an hour delay. However, as we have family on the island, we were well aware of the challenges before booking. Once you get to the house, it is fantastic! Being in a less touristy area, the beach behind the home was largely vacant and the leeward side of the island produces a wonderful experience for the whole family. We’re familiar with the entire island and most beaches do not compare to what this house has in its backyard. The house is also well appointed and comes with plenty of necessities and water toys like body boards, snorkeling gear, coolers and chairs. The kitchen is large, the outdoor space is great, and the bedrooms have mini-split cooling units that kept us comfortable at night. The main pitfalls outside were the lack of air-conditioning in the main living area as well as the small parking space. We had a Jeep and a Honda Pilot which made for a tight but possible fit. We recommend this house and would certainly stay here again.

Beachfront Home
If your looking for direct beachfront home, this is it. Beautiful sandy beach right behind the home with a backyard full of palm trees. Beautiful evenings and mornings on the back patio. We had a family of 9. Five adults and 3 teenagers. Plenty of space and the house was very nice. Driving to the place it looks a little sketchy, but the area where the house is was fine and we had no concerns. Most activities are anywhere from a 40-90 minute drive. We really enjoyed the place and would definitely stay there again. Thank you for sharing your home!!!

Perfect home in small town
The house was perfect for our family and on a beautiful beach. The house is pretty far from everything but we just planned accordingly. The beach our front is gorgeous, we just had to be careful because the waves are pretty intense at times. The owner and caretaker are very responsive and helpful. Overall we loved our stay In Oahu, Mahalo!

Perfect 10 days
The house is large, spacious and lovely. We had 9 people, kids and adults and we all had our own space. The beach right outside the door was fabulous! Directly in front can be a little rough for non swimmers, but once you get past the breakers and undertow it was fine. We saw a few turtles, lots of fish and dolphins in the distance. My only complaint of the beach is, it was DEEP. Never encountered sand so deep you could hardly walk in it. Valerie was very responsive anytime we had questions.

Wonderful beachfront property
Lovely home that accommodated two families comfortably. Good access to beach right in backyard! We’ve stayed here twice. In Mid June the beach stretch is longer and closer to the property. We stayed in mid March and the beach access was covered but a short walk down wasn’t too bad, more reefs for kids to explore. Definitely recommend this place for family with older and younger children.

Amazing waterfront house/lanai/yard/view
Really love the views and sunset from the lanai and yard. So peaceful and private to sit out there and listen to the waves. Amazing secluded beach is a few feet away. Interior of house has all the little touches that make it feel like home. Highly recommend.

Beautiful backyard beach
We loved this house! Very comfortable and spacious for two families with kids. It provided for all our needs: laundry, beach gear, large dining table, spacious kitchen, evening family room, and backyard hangout. Love the beach view and yard with palm trees and tropical flowers! Wonderful location to snorkel, hike, drive to Honolulu, and watch sea turtles. Thank you for sharing your home!

Wonderful Family Vacation
This house was in an ideal waterfront location for our family vacation. The house was modern and had all amenities of home. It had a well stocked kitchen and outdoor cooking area.
We ate outside most mornings and were able to see whales from the lanai. Would highly recommend.

Averything was broken, about to break or very dirty
The dishwasher, the crusher and the a/c in the main bedroom were broken when we arrive and it took 8 days to replace.
The screen for mosquitos was tear, the sink in the kitchen was block, and a never saw a rent so dirty.
In the naeberhood there is a lot of people leaving in tent or cabanas on the beach.
The weather was great.
I will never rent again by VRBO

A little hidden jewel
This is a great property, plenty of room for a large group or family. Sits right on ocean with fence for safety if you have children. Beautiful sand beach. Water is rough but you can walk down beach to calmer water. The area you drive thru is a little hard to see, but once you arrive it is well worth it. We were very comfortable. Would definitely stay there again.

Great Get away on the beach
Perfect spot for a family get away. Beach can be rough for little ones. Short walk down the beach for calmer water. Comfortable beads with cooling until in each bed room. No cooling unit in the living room or kitchen. Just needed to turn the other units on and keep the bedroom doors open and the outside doors closed. The neighborhood looked a little rough but the people were very nice. Definitely would go back.

Perfect lanai to watch the world go by
Our first visit to Oahu for our intergeneration vacation. The house worked out perfectly and the lanai a wonderful place to spend time after a day of sightseeing and traffic. Whale watching and coffee go well together each morning. Mahalo Makaha Villa.

House is fantastic for a family. Beautiful mornings watching the ocean tides from the lanai.
Well maintained home and grounds. Off the beaten path near some great beaches on the west side of the Island. Long drive to Honolulu and other attractions. We recommend to others as there is plenty of space for a family.

Best vacation ever
This house is out of Honolulu about a half hour (no traffic). The beach location is amazing. The amenities are great. We didn't have any needs. The house was great for the 9 of us. There is a binder available with lots of options for hiking, shopping, surfing, etc. There were 2 normal and 1 small boogie board available, along with snorkel gear, beach chairs and mats. The kitchen is nice and has everything you need. Plenty of towels for the beach and bath. We will be back. Thank you for sharing your home.

We love it!!
We return every year here and are always very pleased, so relaxed and appreciate everything about the home and property. The home is very spacious for 10 and we can always spill out onto the lanai, the yard or out to the beach.
Valerie and the staff are always so very helpful - they have always responded quickly to our requests to make our stay exceptional.
My only concern this year was about the coconuts on the property. They were falling sporadically throughout our two-week stay and some of them are quite large which could be harmful.
Other than that, as usual - another stellar stay!
Aloha and mahalo nui loa Valerie and staff!
Chuck and the gang!

Great house, loved the beach.
This is an amazing property and wonderful beach. Our extended family of 9 felt very comfortable here. The neighborhood and surrounding town is not in the "resort area". I didn't think it was, but I will say I was a little shocked driving to the property. However, once you see it a few times, we just got over it and enjoyed our stay. Traffic was pretty bad but we just planned around it. The beach was amazing! Loved eating on the patio and having the sounds of waves crashing.

Very Comfortable Vacation Home
This is a well cared for and well appointed vacation home. It was beautifully decorated and well equipped with all you would need for your stay. You have all the sheets, towels, kitchen appliances, and beach equipment you need to be comfortable. When we had an issue with an appliance, the homeowner was very responsive and really cared about our satisfaction. The washer and dryer were new and came in handy as we washed our clothes before we went home. The view from the back yard melted the stress away. We ate all our meals in the patio. The beach behind home was never crowded although the waves were pretty rough at times. The home itself was a little far from Oahu's touristy spots. The locals were welcoming and friendly. As in many parts of Hawaii, you will drive through Oahu to the house and see Hawaii's social issues with poverty juxtaposed with the richly beautiful scenery.

Best beach in Hawaii!
If you are looking for a resort town feeling, this is not the place for you. When you drive through town, it is filled with homeless people everywhere and they live on the beaches in makeshift villages. When we pulled up to the house, it was in a neighborhood of nice and shady houses. Cars were parked with no wheels etc.
But, once you got into the house, it was like you were transformed into a new paradise. The house was in good condition and had plenty of space for all of us.
The real gem of this property is the backyard and its view of the beach. There is a gate that lets you access the beach all the way down to the condominiums about a half mile long. This beach did not have any homeless, and only a few locals, who basically fished. They were not a problem at all.
The surf can be dangerous right behind the property, and there are rocks there, but a short walk down the beach and you are in a safer zone. Just note that the waves do get pretty big and it pulls you in with some mighty power.
The drive to Waikiki area can be long, especially during rush hour, so plan accordingly.
Overall, it was amazing and our family loved it. Would have given it 5 stars if it was in a nicer neighborhood/community, but then again, we'd probably had to pay double the price.

Wonderful and relaxing beach house
We really enjoyed our stay at the beach house from drinking our coffee each morning listening to the ocean to eating our dinners each night watching the water. The house was perfect for our needs and we loved the local town. We would stay here again!

We were spoiled!
We absolutely loved staying at this house. The beach was ideal....truly the best beach we played. The locals say it’s one of the best beaches as well. If you want a vacation that is low key without all the people stay here! The house was awesome! Washer and dryer made a huge difference for our large family. My kids would have stayed at the house and the beach right behind it the whole time if we let them. I will miss this house and location! Thank you!!!!!!
