Location
Unfortunately a lot of rain, but you couldn’t have helped that!
4.1
The room and location were fantastic. The tavern and restaurant provided great food and a lovely ambience with the large wood fires going. Being so close to the wildlife as well was amazing. We saw Wombats and Paddymelons every day right outside our room.
The accommodation is quite expensive for what it is. The buffet breakfast could have been slightly fresher but otherwise was an enjoyable stay.
4.1
The room was lovely and very well equiped
Probably nice to have more choice on the menu in the resturant

Cradle Mountain is a unique location and peppers lodge is based right near the heart of it. Although an older lodge, our room was modern, clean and well presented. The small hikes/walks around the lodge led you to some amazing hidden spots, and there was an abundance of local wildlife in the area. Whilst there the temperatures dropped to - 3 and awoke to sleet and frost covering the entire area; it was quite magical and almost as if I were living in a real life fantasy. The food within the lodge was pretty good, it was a little pricey but I did expect this.
There isn't too much I didn't like. We did have an issue with our heating in our room which unfortunately happened around 2am in the morning. But after a few calls to the off site manager the problem was resolved very quickly.

Parking close to room.
Wait staff were not helpful.

I loved the separate rustic cottages and the main reception with lounge and restaurants was warm and cosy.
Nothing I didn’t like

Perfect location to go to the tazzie devil sanctuary, and catch the shuttle to dove lake to see cradle mountain. Free wifi in club house, non in rooms, no TV either no phone access . Wildlife active at night, saw devils, wombats and a platypus (in the hotel pond). Gas open fire in room, lovely and warm, beds comfy. Free washing machines and dryer.
Not worth $700 a night. Shower terrible, kept going cold. second bed was a single sofa bed…
Worth about$250 a night for location only. room basic.
4.1
Perfect stop on at the end of a very cold mountain climb. Great warm cabins with all the amenities you need including the unexpected nature visits at your door step (wombats and paddy melons + a platypus sighting). Food was incredible and hearty, main building setting with multiple open fires and places to spend time relaxing was perfect, especially after a hard day trekking. Highly recommend! Will be back!
4.1
The nature walks and the beautiful location with wildlife animals. Jolly had exceptional customer service
The bistro staff were incompetent. Multiple times our orders were incorrect. Staff didn’t seem to care about the mistakes.
4.1
Excellent location, nice Rooms
Service at breakfast was slow, often items on buffet were not filled up in time. Breakfast requires a slot which is a bit taking out flexibility
4.1
- Perfect location to visit Cradle Mountain NP
- Big and nice accommodation
4.1
Room very comfortable. Bar & bistro
Price. No television. Building external (Unit 6) looked quite dated
4.1
The location is superb
The cabin was clean but old and tired looking. The restaurant was overpriced and being told we MUST order a two or three course each was unacceptable- no option just to order only a main meal.
Breakfast was adequate but being told you can only have 1 free coffee was ridiculous. Everything was self service right down to the cutlery.
4.1
Location and the comfort
The tavern restaurant is too busy, not enough capacity, chaotic in the day time
4.1
We felt very relaxed the moment we arrived, the room was so clean, well appointed, quiet and comfortable.
We enjoyed the buffet breakfast each morning, which was included in the rate.
The wildlife around the lodge was amazing.
The lodge is in a very convenient location for all walks and treks.
4.1
Conveniently located to the all the hikes. Best place to see all the amazing animals.
The lodge charges is way too high
4.1
Location was amazing, just at the entrance of the Cradle Mountain National Park.
We had 2 spa suites, they were large, comfortable and clean. The room cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. The fireplace was a good touch and we enjoyed using it. Each morning and evening you will run into native animals like wombats and wallabies.
The Highland restaurant had exceptional service and tasty food.
Phone reception is variable, TELSTRA has reception at the lodge but not OPTUS. The lodge does not provide wifi or a television in the rooms. This is something that should be reviewed considering the other nearby accommodation offered these services.
The lodge should consider resurfacing all the roads to each of the lodges as they are currently full of potholes, this is supposed to be the premier accommodation in this area and this does detract.
The Bistro food and service were not to the same standard as the Highland restaurant, the team were trying hard but were understaffed. This led to delays and confusion in the orders. We only ate once there in our 5 nights stay, we preferred to go to the adjoining hotels and eat there.
The rooms had a kitchenette but no microwave. I suggest review of this policy which allows guests the flexibility of not having to eat out every night.
The service of the front desk was variable. Check in was fine and the person at the desk was welcoming.
When I tried to organise a night animal viewing tour I was told that the lodge no longer offered this service and that it was run by a third party that I had to call and organise myself. I ran into another guest 5 minutes later who informed me that they had been able to book the same tour the previous evening. I sent my son to the front desk to see what would happen if he tried. He was able to book it with the same person that had told me 15 minutes earlier that he could not do it for me….

We were immediately welcomed and greeted by a staff member called Glenn. He made everything very easy and explained everything we needed.
In the bar bistro area it was extremely busy and there was one line only for food or alcohol service. We just wanted to have a quick drink when we returned from our walk and we were told that we would have to lineup right at the entrance to grab some drinks, so we declined or decided just to go back to our own room.
4.1
The lodge atmosphere is great and the rooms/cabins are in small groups and hidden amongst the bush, so it all feels secluded. Breakfast was good and it was great to have a choice of two restaurants for dinner. Nice to sit by the open fires that are in multiple locations throughout the lodge.
Easy access to the shuttle bus to get into the park. Some walks are close enough to do without the shuttle.
There's plenty of wildlife around the lodge.
The design of the bathroom in cabin 82 is not good. The water from the shower comes out all over the floor and I think they need to put a door on it or renovate the room.
Not a dislike - but the images led us to believe the lodge was on one of the national park lakes (ie Dove Lake). We should have done more research.
4.1
It was very luxurious and warm with a fireplace in our cabin. It was easily accessible to everything. They provided umbrellas to use and a mud room for shoes or wet coats. The bar and bistro were a lovely set up, with great food, a little higher price but great facilities.
The restaurant was very indulgent, fancy menu options but very well presented and tasty.
We were there early as we made good time and were able to get into our room early.
Nothing, it was amazing!

Location in the National Park.
Great cabins,
Breakfast was excellent.
Hotel styling is perfect for the location
The weather was miserable - heavy rain made it impossible to enjoy any outdoor activities. Act of nature beyond anyone's control.
4.1
This is a special location and the cabin, lodge, restaurants and grounds all combined to provide a great alpine experience - even before we ventured into the Dove Lake area.
