I love older homes, and this one was done really cute and true to its historic roots. Everything we needed was provided. It must have been recently sprayed for bugs, because there were numerous dead cockroaches around. This isn't odd for Florida, though. The relatives who slept in the single beds said they were pretty hard, but then we are all up in age and have our aches and pains. Overall, a very good place to stay and very close to downtown. I would stay there again.

Short but sweet stay!
We all loved our weekend stay at this historic cottage. Clean and comfortable with interesting pictures and photos. The old clock and the hour glass were favorites! The stained glass windows and old oak floors added to the charm. We hope to return here!

Every bit as good as the listing.
An 1835 place that beats any condo.

Perfect cottage!
We immediately fell in love with this historic property. My friend and I were in town for a plein air painting event and the location was inspiring. We could walk to endless scenic places and had perfect access to restaurants and shops. The kitchen is well stocked and provided cooking essentials. The living room and dining room are quaint and comfortable. The home was BETTER than expected. Perhaps in the future a smart TV in the living room and more comfortable mattresses?

Ramey Cottage needs a little tlc
The location is great. We wanted to grill and could not due to the poor condition of the grill-it was filthy. The cable tv did not work for us. Although the air conditioning worked, we would have liked it a little cooler but instructed not to tamper with the controls. The ceiling fans helped move the air.

Excellent!
Excellent all around experience! Cottage was so amazing; clean, and well stocked, centrally located to walking to all the cute shops and restaurants and not to far from the beautiful beaches of St. George. Had fun with the teens geo caching around the area! We will be back!

A little bit of history at the beach
The rainy guest cottage is so comfortable and welcoming. My family and I really enjoyed our stay. It was amazing to be able to walk to all of the shops downtown and see the historic sites without hopping in the car. When we wanted to hit the beach, we had a short drive over to Saint George Island where the public access and the state park are immaculate and never too crowded. Loved it.

Beautiful, historic property in Apalachicola
At 150+ years old, this place was really cool! The cottage is cozy and very comfortable with an AC that blows cold and good hot water. The proximity to downtown is also fantastic... easy walking distance to everything. My only complaint is with the queen sized bed... it's terribly uncomfortable... like sleeping on plywood. I left with a back ache. Regardless, I would stay here again!

Charming Cottage
Very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. And just a block or two from the commercial district of Apalach. Would highly recommend and hope to stay here again!

Charming and comfortable
The Raney Guest Cottage is a very charming and comfortable place to stay in Apalachicola. One of our favorites in Apalach/SGI, where we have been vacationing for years. Cozy yet spacious, lots of nice homey and historic details - we felt at home immediately. Unexpectedly well stocked - nice sheets and towels, cleaning and paper supplies, even condiments! As a result we only needed one grocery shop and will bring less of our own supplies next time. The location is good - close to everything but slightly out of the fray.

Lovely historic cottage in a great location
From the moment that we pulled up to the house and saw the light shining through the window, this cottage felt welcoming and inviting. It is very well updated with all the modern conveniences, but still maintains its historic charm and warmth.
The cottage is in an excellent location in the historic district, one block away from the main street. So nice to be within walking distance of restaurants and shops, and not to have to always be in the car. And we loved sitting in the rocking chairs on the front porch watching everyone go by.
Check-in and out was very easy. The property manager Kathy is very easy to deal with and provides excellent communication.
This was our first visit (but hopefully not last) to Apalachicola, and we can't wait to return and stay at this wonderful cottage!
