The tents where well presented. The location is great for quick access to the national park. Eating dinner by candle light was good, the food was ok and they always found a vegetarian option for us.
The safari did not come with a guide. Apparently we could have asked for one but this was not made clear.

The new tends are very good, but the old one need really very improvements. Our tend wasn’t ok, so we stayed in a tend with our friends and they offered us the dinner for me because of the inconvenience coused.

the place is very clean and well organized. it’s in the midst of nature with a very comfortable and clean tent.
The main issue is that food was a rip off. The quality of the food was so bas and it was extremely expensive. $5 for a normal processed cheese sandwich, and $20 for a dinner. We weren’t satisfied at all with the food!

This review should actually be for the adjacent sister site Mahoora as I was the only guest at Big Game and was moved to their site. Location is nice on the edge of the park, although quite difficult to get to. Languars, monitor lizards and peacocks roam through. Tents are clean but get really hot.
Food wasn't great. Not much choice and very overpriced. Shower was a trickle. No hot water (but that's fine because it's so hot). 'Guided Night Walks' walks are a bit of a joke. They just a stroll around the grounds for 15 minutes. Staff do their best but small things like not being able to be dropped off in town make all the difference. Be prepared for minimum $70US for a game drive. You can decide if it's worth it or not. Entry fee alone is 45$, in my opinion way overpriced. Apart from that there's nothing to do at the site so one night is probably enough.

Big Game made my stay incredibly unique.
I love how close it is to Yala Safari Park, the ambience if staying in a tent, how peaceful it is to hear the nature’s singing.
The generosity and kindness of the staff, Avinka was great on explaining and giving a night walk tour around the camp at night.
The bbq dinner at the camp under the stars and moon was also a perfect experience.
🙏🏻 thank you.

Very nice 'glamping' tents in a site which has made an effort to be special e.g. outdoor candlelit dining. The sunset nature walk was very good and the location, a short drive from YNP gates is perfect. We were easily there right before opening.
Our tent had two separate sections for us and for the kids and they whole experience felt special.
The tour was very good as Yala has a nice variety of scenery. Highlights were seeing crocodiles feeding at close range and an elephant climbing what seemed like an impossibly steep rock. No leopards for us despite the efforts of the driver to follow leads. Guides rated the chance of seeing a leopard at 1 in 3.
Having come from the hill country where we'd had some great food, the evening meal at USD 20 was a bit disapointing and over-priced for what was provided. That said, my kids tell me it was good!

Quiet location and very friendly staff. Very accomodating safaris.
Dinner was mediocre, some yummy sri lankan food would have better.

location is very nice in the middle of the forest, the tents are nice and well equipped, dinner was great. staff is super professional. very well organized safari. do not get tricked by people outside who are trying to sell you safari while you are getting to the eco camp if you are taking Tuk-Tuk or car in the city.
According to my husband who does catering for leaving, breakfast is overrated and could be improved. 10$ breakfast in reality is only 4$. vegetables could be added instead of so much pastries.
for people to stay longer, could be added some activities in the camp like yoga or cooking classes, horse riding etc.
overall, the place is fantastic!

The staff were fantastic, they honestly couldn’t be more attentive and caring. The tents are what would be expected from glamping. I thought our food was incredible and the safari was once in a lifetime. We had an amazing stay!

Fantastic atmosphere
Superb location close to Yala entrance gates
Excellent and helpful staff (special mention to Sagara)
Literally next to the forest
Fascinating guests and visitors to befriend :)
The food can see some improvements
The mattresses/bed left me with a bit of a backache
The toilet area could do with a full curtain

Close to nature experience
Safari was expensive compared to similar tours offered by other local companies.

It was a special experience to sleep in a tent surrounded by nature and to listen to all those different animals. It was clean and very comfortable.
Unfortunately but we were very disappointed of the dinner, even though I liked the atmosphere.

Really secluded and as close to the national park as you can get. (you can see the electric fence of the national park)

great location, very near to the park entrance. the facilities were nicely thoughts and tents were spacious enough and surprisingly comfortable. we’ve had a very good sleep and followed advice of many about mosquitos so were not bothered at all by it. there is even hot water for a shower. the food was delicious and the staff were very helpful. the bone fire was a great idea, especially with kids. the night tour with the naturalist was great, original and super fun!
the driver of our safari was very good at finding animals (and we even saw a leopard thanks to his skills!) however, there was little explaining about the animals, their habits and everything else you could expect from a guide so we were a bit disappointed although we have seen many animals!

Loved the camping. The dinner under the stars. The evening bonfire. The peace and quiet.
Some of our party struggled with the bugs!!

The staff is super attentive and one can clearly feel that they want their guests to have the best experience.; Everyone is working very hard. The safari was great and easy. Quiet breakfast in a beautiful environment and dinner under the stars. Completely recommended!

The night walk, the Diner under the stars with a bonfire, the acknowledgement of the staff. With was an amazing experience.

Dinner and breakfast were both delicious.
There could be a little more light, in the relaxation areas. Maybe some citronella to keep away mosquitos.

Friendly staff! We like the eveningwalk with Avinka. He’s a good guide! Thank you Avinka!
Pricy for hotels in Sri Lanka.

The whole safari experience is amazing! we arrived at lunch time and got a very nice meal from the staff! You sleep in tents what‘s pretty cool! In the evening you get a barbeque and a campfire. That was very romantic! And after dinner they offer a free nighttour trhough the campside and the border of the nationalpark. The yala national park is located very near to the camp, whats great! But the highlight at this dtay is the staff! they are so friendly and helbful and flexible!
We booked our room over booking.com, and we got the booking.com room (worst room…)! There are like 10 tents and we were biside one other couple the only guests and we got the most shitty tent of all of them (the other ones were free). On our arrival we didn‘t noticed that, but we went around the campside and looked into other tents, and they were much more beautiful than ours and that was very sad, because we really enjoyed our stay until there, but think its just not fair! We stayed only for one night there, thats why we didn‘t changed the room! In our opinion things like that ruin the whole experience…
The other point the Camp can improve is the mosquito thing! The tent is good protected but there are holes everywhere where the mosquitos can come in! It would be good when these holes get fixes from time to time.

promised luxury camping by game reserve but was very tired and shabby. also lots of hidden costs and Safari package is poorly organised and poor value for money. a rip off in fact
shabby tents; hidden prices; communal area not comfortable enough; poor Wi-Fi; scary wiring; demoralised over worked staff

The campsite concept is good. The staff is really helpful. The food was tasty. Tents were clean and moderately spacious
It's better if there was more space between tents since when the privacy is concerned. Tap born water quality is not as expected. It was salty probably seawater. Few water an electricity cuts were experienced during stay.

My friend got beaten by an insect (most probably a bee) that caused an allergic shock and there was no medical support or first aid kit although the camp is located in the jungle and offers safari. The camp staff was not responsive the days that followed to help with information about the insect needed for the doctors.

The dinner had great atmosphere. Good breakfast. Nice and clean tents. A different experience to stay there.
The General Manager was very strange. The dinner tasted terrible.
