Everything. The location was right in the town, the staff were very friendly, the room was spotless and the breakfast was really lovely. Wouldn’t pick anywhere else to stay in Colchester.

A very friendly welcome to the hotel. The room was lovely and warm and we had free parking as there were not many people in the hotel. The location is excellent

The bathroom was not as clean as I like (hair in the shower and some soap at the back of the loo) and the pillows were a bit lumpy.

The bed was the worst I’ve ever slept in. The mattress didn’t fit the bed and had a thick lumpy mattress topper that also didn’t fit. The quilt was too small for the cover. The whole bed arrangement was very uncomfortable.

Breakfast was as advertised, continental buffet. Good selection, friendly staff bringing tea and coffee.

Very welcoming, everything went like clockwork, room was just right, lovely shower. Breakfast well stocked continental type as the restaurant was closed...no complaints though. Really good location for exploring Colchester at the end of the High Street.

Great location and a good sized room with lovely bay windows. Well stocked breakfast area and the ability to eat breakfast in the courtyard.

Minor nigles: Couldn't open our bedroom windows, so had to use air conditioning at night. This made loud noises intermittently that repeatedly woke us both up. Toilet flush kept sticking down. Shower is set on the wrong wall which meant you had to squeeze past the shower head to get into the shower cubicle.

I thoroughly recommend the hotel. The staff could not do enough to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Continental breakfast included decent yoghurt.

Whatever I didn't like was far outweighed by the hospitality. As we were walking from the train station, it struck us that the hill leading to the hotel ensured a good work-out!

We had a pleasant stay. Parking was a bonus in the centre of town.

Not the hotel's fault, but Colchester's traffic system is a nightmare for a visitor. You can only get to the hotel via a restricted traffic zone from the top of the road. To do this you go through a sign that says buses and access only. We read that as deliveries, police, ambulances etc. But you can go through it!

Free parking in the middle of Colchester friendliness of the gentleman that didn't give his name nothing was too much trouble for him beginning able to sit out in the beer garden in the evening

Staff is very polite and willing to help at all times . Walking distance to everything. Some rooms that we stayed before are amazing (looking on the main road).

Rooms we got were on top floor , very small and too hot even though we were given fans . Rooms were not comfortable at all this time.

Staff were amazing. Very friendly, welcoming, accomadating, and happy. Ideal location in heart of Colchester Town. Quiet aswell for location. Room was clean, tidy with a few complimentary items. The onsite bar is intimate and classy. Breakfast in the morning was fresh and plentiful. Would definitely recommend and will be returning in the future

The room was okay for one night, very dated. The pillows were very lumpy, ensuite was very small, the room didnt have the option to lock from the inside which I felt uneasy about and may have contributed to my poor night's sleep.

it was very hot and the window in one of our rooms wouldn’t stay open. The hotel is aware of the problem. The small rooms and historic building are part of its charm but bring their own problems.

Great location for a stay in the town for visiting the mercury theatre. Within 2 mins walk. Lots of eateries nearby also.. Great location. Great hotel with personal touch of excellent customer service from management team on site

Breakfast was good with lots of choice.

The bathroom was not well designed. Water from the shower wet the floor in front of the sink. Also the mirror above the sink was too poorly lit to be of much use.

There wasn't anything to dislike about this hotel or the stay. It was pretty much perfect in every way.
