This apartment was perfect for two colleagues and myself to travel to NYC for a few days on a budget. Though it is not in the touristy part of NYC, nor is it necessarily the prettiest neighborhood, the building and neighborhood have a lot of history and character. Additionally, it's not too far from the Nostrand subway terminal, and then you're off! My biggest/only complaint about the property is the parking. It is street (parallel) parking only, and it has alternate sides enforced (though we got lucky for the holiday). Otherwise, it was a great stay!

We were very pleased not only about the apartment but also those who helped us to have a very comfortable time away from home. The information book was very helpful. Thank you for a great visit

Overall everything was nice and clean. The heaters worked really well. This apartment is on the second floor which came as a surprise. Getting used to all the noises out side took a little time. Totally recommend this place and would be willing to go back again as well.

This property seemed like it would be great. The pictures looked good and there were many good reviews. When we got to the property (an hour early), the cleaning lady let us in and said she would hold our luggage, which was great. Check in was at 12pm, so we walked around for a bit and got back to the place around 12:10. She was still not finished with the room and had her crying children with her while she was cleaning. Meanwhile the man downstairs was shouting at the children to be quiet. Not sure if he's a neighbor or another guest. We waited another 10 minutes and then she came down and said it was ready for us. The property was not clean, there was thick dust around the baseboards and there were 2 dirty rags in the bathroom leftover from the "cleaning". The bathtub had grime and hair and didn't look like it was cleaned at all. The towels they gave us were dingy. The sheets and comforters looked like something out of a 90s dorm and didn't smell or look clean. We woke up at 4am to scorching heat from the radiator and were unable to control temperature so we had to turn on the window AC unit and open the windows while it was 30 degrees outside. He did answer when we called at 4AM, but was unable to do anything about it.

Checking in was very easy. The property manager was very attentive with any questions we had. Would stay again, have recommended to several friends.

This clean and cozy apartment was a great resting spot for my family of three. The kitchen was well stocked and clean. The beds were comfortable. We used the futon too so that came in handy. I loved the classic brownstone lined street. The apartment was in a convenient location to the subway and grocery store. The welcome book was very informative and helpful. We had two issues that influenced my decision not to give 5 stars. One was that there was construction of some sort going on in the apartment next door the first two days. We were coming in after a red eye flight so it made it hard to take a much needed nap the first day. After that it wasn’t so much an issue because we were out but it might be a good idea to advise the guests of this. Second we came home to the apartment the second day to a strong smell. It smelled like marijuana. I wouldn’t blame this on the owners as it was probably another guest or a worker but it did take away from our experience. All in all except for those two issues we enjoyed the apartment and our time there. I would rent it again as long as the construction was finished.

The property has all the comforts of home. Makes an extended stay very comfortable. Very good restaurants, markets nearby. Subway stop east walk. Would definitely stay here again.

The overall layout of the apartment was awkward with no where to sit in the main area other than on the bed. The bathroom tiles around the tub filled with dirt/mold completely unlike the picture of the tub in the apartment post. The remote for Netflix/ alternate tv had no batteries and the hostess had no idea how to work it. She said she would find out and let us know the following day and we never heard back from her regarding this. We were awoken several times the one night with yelling and screaming, unsure if it was from another apartment or outside. All other apartments that I have stayed in before for the same money had shampoo, soap and tissues available but this place did not. On the positive side, we arrived late to the apartment, around midnight and Juanita was gracious and friendly when letting us into the apartment. All in all, comparing this to past experiences, we were disappointed and would not stay here again.

We were 4 friends visiting New York for a festival and we loved our stay. Mr.brake and is family perfectly received us and was able to answer our questions. We loved the appearance of the apartment that met our needs perfectly.The neighborhood seems good to live we and find everything we need at one coner of the apartment. Grocery store, restaurants, liquor store, everything is close. Moreover, it is located 5min from a metro so we could move easily. If we come back to Brooklyn we will definitely go back to the same apartment.

good place to stay in your vacation

Wonderful place to stay. Easy access to the subway for a quick ride to anywhere you wanted to go!! Would definitely stay again!!

I chose this rental because it was close to my son who lives there. It accommodated me and my sister for the time we were there. Very clean. M.Bryant Tennessee

The 2 of us stayed 9 nights. Kitchen had everything we needed. Coffee shops, convenience stores/delis & restaurants close by. Nice neighborhood feel to the area. The bed & bedding were great-the sheets were really soft.

The studio was perfect for a quick trip to check out schools for our son. The place was clean and the access to train was perfect. Would definately recommend again!

The owner was very helpful and accomodating. He helped us get a parking spot on the street the night we arrived. Unfortunately the property requires a great deal of work to become suitable for rental: 1. The apartment entry door does not properly close. 2. An added air-conditioning unit is not properly mounted, and during the spring rains the noise will keep you awake at night. 3. When the rain stops you will still not be able to sleep because of the video games the neighbors play till late night. 4. The bathroom is the most run down piece of the apartment. Holes in the wall, wear and tear everywhere. 5. The kichen is very decent and well equiped. The worst place we have EVER rented through VRBO/HomeAway. We felt like in a third world country, not in the Big Apple of USA.

Home was very close to subway! We had everything we needed for our stay. Neighbors were all friendly. We had a fun time exploring Brooklyn and Manhatten.

The apartment was comfortable for my husband, daughter and I. The subway was not far away and shops to buy food supplies very close. A fantastic Chinese takeout (Wing Chang) on Fulton has a huge selection and serves very fresh and tasty meals. We got food from their almost every day. John and Kim were very welcoming and available to deal with any issues, but we didn't have any.

It was exactly the place we needed in our stay. Close to subway and groceries and plenty of shops to buy everyday items. As a family of five with two kids we felt perfecly safe in the neighbourhood even the nights we came back very very late at night. As for the apartment itself, everything was working, hot shower/bath was a blessing for our kids; kitchen, microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker really made our stay comfortable because it all worked perfectly. Plus, John and Kim were so kind to us! Our kids fell in love with Brooklyn thanks to our 'home' so we would definitely rent again if we are lucky again to come back!!! Thank you so much John & Kim!!!

We loved everything about it. Everything was clean. The place looks exactly like the pictures. Train is only three blocks down. The owners were really nice. We felt very comfortable. Wi fi didnt work. But im sure it would have if we had taken the time to tell them. But it didnt really matter since we were never there. It was really just to sleep. I recommend this place 100%. And once again I would like to thank the owners for everything.

The Brooklyn Hancock suite was nice for our particular budget! The owners John & Kim were very nice. The location allowed easy access to the subway and local eateries, shops and bars! The area was clean and safe to walk at night. We were two women who were able to navigate the city while feeling safe!

We enjoyed the apt. It was very clean and roomy. Only wish that we could have left the air conditioner on , so when we returned the room would be cool. It took a long time to cool down. John and his wife were very nice. We arrived late at night and John came and stayed out side while we unloaded our car and helped us find a place to park. Thank you for making our New York trip great. My husband and I took our daughter and two grandchildren to New York for a week and not having to worry about were we stayed was a nice feeling for us. A well located apartment in a quite and safe area, close to the subway station (5min walk). There are many groceries and markets nearby and it is very easy to go to Manhattan. The home was comfortable and clean, and it contained all the things we needed. The owners are very friendly and we will recommend this place definitely to friends. Thank you for a great stay.

We couldn't have enjoyed our stay more! The apartment was exactly as described and pictured. Very comfy and plenty of room for a family of five. Our schedule changes and many questions for our hosts were well recieved and posed no problems whatsoever, they were very helpful and patient with us! :) We will definitely be back!

John and Kim's apartment is really nice. It's a good place to stay, with full and modern furniture and very well located: close to Nostrand and Kingston-Throop subway stations and with many groceries and markets nearby. It's easy to go either to Manhattan either to JFK airport from it. Besides, Bed-Stuy is a lovely neighborhood. John and Kim are very friendly and it was nice to meet them. The relation price-quality is very good. My family and I would definitely come back!

Great cozy apartment close to amenities and Manhattan. Friendly owners and wonderful stay in a different area of Manhattan. We would recommend it!

We loved staying here. John and his wife were very welcoming and their communication with us from the time we set up our reservation was always very quick, timely and helpful. The walk to the subway was easy to get to and only a short distance. Getting into the city was easy and fast. There were three of us, myself, my daughter and my grand-daughter and we felt very safe in the area, even at night when returning from the city. This was a very economical way for us to experience our first trip to New York.

Owners were very nice. It was a learning curve for us to ride subways, city culture and getting around but overall very nice place to stay.

Great stay!!! The owners were super friendly and flexible with our arrival time. They not only told us it was our second home, it felt like it. This was truly a home away from home experience. I felt like I was staying with family. The neighborhood is close to anything we needed restaurants, stores, transportation. I would definitely recommend this property.
