We had a great time at Ranch Villa Arenal. The grounds are absolutely stunning and well taken care of. The house is lovely, though rustic and has no air conditioning in the common areas (just in bedrooms) and screens are only on some of the windows (so there were more bugs than we’re used to). The home is rich in history and has a very “Costa Rica authentic feel.” The master bedroom was recently renovated and charming. The home is centrally located for many activities but while it is set back from the street and generally quiet, there was a concert / party one night we were there at a school across the street that was quite loud until around 10:30 PM. The hosts were very attentive to our needs and came daily to clean inside and take care of the grounds. Very gracious and kind.

The house and grounds were beautiful and so well kept. The backyard and pool area was the perfect spot to hang out after a long day of adventure. We had one meal prepared by Yadi which was delicious! Another plus of the villa were restaurants and grocery stores well within walking distance. Will absolutely consider Rancho Villa Arenal for future visits.

Cannot say enough about this beautiful oasis. My family of five adults and four children (2, 5, 8, and 9) stayed at this beautiful villa for a week. We truly enjoyed our stay. There was plenty of room for all of us and it had a pool, hot tub, a porch with a great view, gorgeous grounds, and playground for the children. The check in and check out processes were easy. The villa was located close to activities we chose to do. The host Jorge, concierge Jordy, the groundskeeper Joaquin, and housekeeper/cook Yadi were all awesome. They were responsive and helpful. Joaquin was there every day to keep the grounds and pool beautiful, and to take care of anything we needed. He took us on a wonderful tour of the grounds. Yadi and another staff member kept the villa clean and cooked (including cleanup) delicious meals for us (breakfast and dinners/Costa Rican). It was nice having the option to have meals during our stay especially when we arrived and after long days. The prices were reasonable. We highly recommend this villa.

We really enjoyed our stay at this villa. The back of house opens to the wonderful grounds and pool. It was a perfect place for relaxing after a busy sightseeing day. The activities and drivers provided by the concierge Jordy were great.

What a beautiful place. We felt so special and welcome. The grounds are impressive and clean. Each day the pool area gets cleaned . We had ladies fix our meal 2x and the prices were very reasonable. There is someone on the grounds who would help us with anything. Everything we did was close by.

The Ranch Villa Arenal is a gorgeous house and property. We felt at home and fell in love with Yadi the house keeper/cook and Joaquin the grounds keeper. Yadi cooked a delicious breakfast every day and Joaquin entertained us with tours of the working ranch. The Fortuna area offers many activities for all age groups. Our family had a fantastic time and highly recommend this property. Pura Vida.

Our family of 13, ages 73 to 5, stayed for 7 days at this property. The moment we stepped into this villa we felt "on vacation". It has its own personality seeped in history not a bland cookie cutter house.
The outstanding landscaping made you feel you were in a remote area yet you are actually within walking distance of necessities and only a few minutes from La Fortuna.
The grounds were planted to attract local wildlife and we were always entertained by these visitors. Jaquin gave us an educated farm tour (he is the diamond at this villa) of the crops, answered any questions that we had and went out of his way to be helpful.
One suggestion would involve the many light switches throughout this large home and grounds. After a week we still had not figured out where some were located.
Labeling them or a detailed diagram in the house manual would be very helpful.
The extra bedroom on the main floor is perfect as a handicap room. It has sliding door to bathroom and walk in shower with shower chair.
Our family has been home a few days and we miss it already.

We absolutely loved our oasis. Ranch Villa is conveniently located outside of Fortuna, about 10 min, if that. It is next to, in walking distance, a nice restaurant, small sodas, and a grocery store. The outside living is beatiful with pool, hot tub, nature lagoon, and playground for kids. Birds galore! Toucans, macaw, lizards...Yadira cooking was a fantastic and easy way to enjoy CR food and the pool time, although a little expensive.
Our main issues, although not really the house's fault, but if developing country- we either had no hot water, no water, a trickle of water; a giant spider in the kitchen; lots if bugs; and a broken hot tub (which they fixed after we convinced them in broken Spanish something was wrong- am electrical shock in water). Again- we take issues in stride when staying in other places, but guests should know it still has challenges. A way to improve the house would be an ac unit in the living room or fan over inside table and see if the water pressure can be normalized. Also- bring noise makers for traffic. The house isn't on the road, but the vehicle noise gets loud.

We had a wonderful time at The Ranch Villa Arenal! The house and grounds are beautiful and the staff was warm and welcoming. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub and sitting on the porch at night. The Ranch was close to all of our activities in the area. We would highly recommend this property!

I cannot say enough positive things about our stay. Jorge was an amazing host with amazing staff. Jordy, the concierge was so responsive and helpful with organizing everything for our stay. Yadi, the chef, made the yummiest food for our group and Joaquin, the Gardner, gave us a fun and interactive tour of the property. My husband and friends raved about the house and grounds. Would 100% stay here again!

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The family were great in preparing the food for our meals. The children enjoyed the tour of the farm and the birds and hummingbirds were beautiful.

Looks like the listing. Great overall stay will a large group of friends. Huge property with lots to see (fruits, birds, etc) and pool w/ hot tub. Water pressure can be low at times if more than 1 person is using a shower.

Well this place surpassed our expectations. The grounds were absolutely immaculate, and host was so responsive and helpful. Yadi and Joaquin were both extremely helpful and kind. I highly recommend you have Yadi prepare you the traditional Casados with Fish for lunch or dinner one day. It was one of our favorite meals in Costa Rica. The pool was lovely and kept very clean. We loved the little town of El Tanque and lots of stuff a short walk like bakery, super mercado, Victorino's (good restaurant), Empanadas stand, etc. Close enough to La Fortuna and all the activities that are offered in the region. I highly recommend Jalapas if looking for a nice lunch or dinner with views of the Volcano and valley. Luis and his wife were both very nice and live next door and have an amazing garden. Food and service were outstanding! We hired a driver with a van to stay with us for our entire stay and it worked out perfectly and made our trip more enjoyable. You will not be disappointed with this home and so grateful for the family for sharing it with us. It is truly a very special "home".

The property was absolutely beautiful. Exactly what we wanted. The garden, the hammock, pool and jacuzi were so amazing. Definitely soak in the pool and jacuzi if you come in. The garden view is absolutely amazing. The downstairs bedroom/in law suite was newly renovated so it was perfect. Upstairs could use lots of upgrades/improvements but we expected this. There were a few times we kept finding strange black dots on our beds even with the mosquito net closed and the stair rails had strange shredded wood deposits that need to be looked at. Besides these minor issues in a old home, the propert manager Jorge was always responsive, Joaquin the garden keeper was always making sure the garden is great, the pool is clean and his tour of the farm was so great. Lots of fresh fruits and coconuts to sample and taste. It was nice to stay on a property with a working farm. Make sure you have good hiking shoes for your trips. Yadira was always on time. We had asked her to have breakfast ready by 7:30am everyday since the kids are always ready to eat and we wanted the option to sleep in while they had food. It worked out great. Fresh delicious homemade breakfast everyday. We also asked her to make dinner 3 of the nights. She made us chicken with rice and meat one day and empanadas (which we ate throughout the week for snacks), chicken soup the next day. This was one of my favorites. Last day was grilled casada for everyone. Definitely enjoy some meals from her and maybe even learn.

We absolutely loved staying at this gorgeous well cared for Villa. The grounds were breathtaking. Birdwatching was almost as good as going to a national park. We were 3 families with 6 kids ranging from 10-18. We loved the house, pool, grounds, and farm. Joaquin, the grounds keeper was so friendly and kind even though he spoke minimal English. He proudly showed me around this majestical place. We were traveling all over the country. I wish we could have stayed here longer.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at this home. It was centrally located to most activities which we greatly appreciated (15 min drive to La Fortuna town, Arenal volcano, Tabacon hot springs and Sky Trek Ziplining). The home (including all beds) was very comfortable with a great layout. Simply beautiful property and grounds. The pool with waterfall and jacuzzi was also a nice treat, although we had trouble with the pool filter which was not operating when we arrived. Other than that, we had a fantastic stay and highly recommend this home. The fresh coconuts cut down by Jorge on our last day was a very nice gesture and he was very helpful throughout our stay.

This is a lovely, huge house that is perfect for large groups. The backyard/verandah is a feast for the eyes, the bedrooms are comfortable, a very nice sitting room for gatherings and the bathrooms are clean with hot water. Very convenient location, near a grocery store and not too far from all that La Fortuna has to offer. The staff is responsive, helpful and flexible. Jordy was critical to helping plan our excursions and transfers, Yadira made several delicious meals for our group and Juaquin gave us a wonderful tour of the property. Would recommend to anyone who wants a relaxing trip for a big group!

This truly is a beautiful property, both inside and out. We had a group of eight, six adults and two kids. The kids each had a room, and three couples had private bathrooms and spacious bedrooms. We highly recommend utilizing Yadi the chef! She prepared breakfast every day and dinner two out of the four nights we stayed. Everything was amazing and we all particularly loved the fish for dinner. Joaquin who maintains the beautiful grounds gave us all a great tour of the extended property, and knocked down coconuts for us to drink the juice. Yadi and Joaquin are delightful people and made us feel fight at home. This is a piece of heaven in a beautiful country. If you are looking for an amazing place to stay in the La Fortuna area look no further!

A well built and cared for house situated on an amazing property. This was the perfect vacation get away for my family. Everyone had their own room and bathroom, and we had plenty of places around the property to hang out, play games, or just relax with a beverage. The back veranda was a wonderful place to gather for meals, and the cool ACs in the bedrooms worked great. A short drive to all kinds of La Fortuna activities, and within walking distance to fresh fruit, groceries, restaurant. An amazing place to stay while in Costa Rica!

This was a beautiful property and the stay was amazing. Hands down the grounds man was one of the best people we have ever met! Had a mishap where my wallet was left and nobody notified me until I reached out, but otherwise all went perfectly. Such a beautiful property!

We had the best time at the villa. Yadi cooked the most amazing meals, Joaquin took some of our group on a tour of the grounds but on top of that he always seemed to appear right when we needed something, anticipating our every thought. We truly have no complaints, this was the perfect location and experience for our group of 8 adults.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the ranch villa! The backyard was the perfect place to destress with a ton of wildlife and beautiful gardens! The best decision was to have Yadira make us dinner the day of our arrival. We all had the fried talapia and it was the best fish we had on the whole trip.. highly recommend! We also had her cook us breakfast each morning which was amazing. The villa was in perfect location- close enough to walk to stores and an amazing restaurant (victorinos), and an easy drive to the hot springs and arenal volcano. We went on the Don Olivio chocolate/coffee tour which was only a 5 minute drive and a great experience! We could not say enough good things about the backyard and we highly recommend staying at this villa if you are planning a trip to La fortuna!

We had an excellent time celebrating my dad's 85th birthday. The location was central yet out of the way so it felt private. The staff was super attentive. We had a hickup where I left something at the house when I went back to San Jose and the staff had it messengered over. The food prepped by Yadira was outstanding as well! Thanks for a great time!

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful property. The outdoors are what makes this property amazing, the interiors are nothing special. The backyard, the views, the nature around the property is just incredible. The only issue that we had was when we had NO water in the house one evening. It was quite a challenge but luckily we got that taken care later that night. The water pressure is an issue, so be mindful about that. The chef's food was not as good as other reviews, you have some great options close by or in La Fortuna. Overall, 5 stars just for the backyard!

Nine of us (two families of adults) had a wonderful time at the villa. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and maintained by the ever helpful Joaquin, and the house is kept in great shape by Yadi (who is also an amazing cook). There are enough bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate a large group easily, and the outdoor living space was spectacular. Our group spread out between the large covered terrace and the pool area.
The proximity to Victorino’s is a huge plus!

Family of 8 adults traveling to the Arenal Volcano region. We had the most memorable time! Be sure your touring schedule is not so tight you don't have time to just relax and enjoy all the home has to offer. The house was spacious for 8 adults and tastefully decorated as well as conveniently located in town and not too far at all from La Fortuna. The outdoor space was a highlight and throughly enjoyed by all. I loved getting up early in the morning and sitting under the covered porch just listening and watching all the birds. Sometimes it's the little unexpected experiences such as this that make trips most memorable. We enjoyed Yadira's meals everyday under the covered porch. Everything was always so fresh and tasty!
The grounds are kept immaculate by Joaquin and the fresh coconuts were a real treat that he chopped down just for us! He also gave us a tour of the property where we sampled a few other fruits that I had never even heard of.
Ranch Villa Arenal is truly a magical place. We hope to book another stay in the future!

This is a lovely property just outside of La Fortuna. Everyone was wonderful and the back yard is beyond beautiful. This is the perfect place for those who don't want a typical tourist experience. It is like living on a plantation in the jungle. We did not want to leave.

Property was beautiful. There were 6 of us and more than enough room. Check-in was easy, everything was clean and kept that way throughout our stay.
Joaquin the gardener does not speak English, but very nicely found a sloth in the field behind us, took a picture to show us what he had found, then took us to it. Yadira made lasagna, quiche and empanadas which were all fantastic.
Villa is just a short distance from La Fortuna, so was easy to get to everything we wanted to see.
Would highly recommend.

I rented this for me and my adult children. This place was spacious and the outdoor spaces were amazing. Took advantage of sweet Yidiras cooking, she makes with love. The restaurant around the corner Victorinos (walking distance) was AMAZING. Chicken parmigiana was delicious. The town of La Fortuna is a quick drive. If you are visiting the Arenal area with a group this is an excellent choice and you won’t regret.

This place is truly out of this world.. entry to the property is like a 5 star resort.. when we checked in, Melanny was waiting for us, she was very sweet and helpful.. once we entered we found it very spacious.. stunning landscape with lush green vegetation.. pool and hot tub too.. very well maintained.. friendly staff always present .. we had their chef cook delicious dinner for our group .. highly recommended!!

Our group of 10 friends thoroughly enjoyed the property. We made arrangements to drop off our bags early and got a quick overview of the house. There was plenty of room for 5 couples. There were five bedrooms upstairs…one master with an en-suite. The other four bedrooms had two bathrooms between them. Beds we’re comfortable and the rooms were clean. Each has its own A/C.
While the house is beautiful, the outdoor areas are outstanding. The pool was refreshing and the spa was large enough for a big group. Make sure to get a tour of the property with Joaquin. Ydrira was a great cook and prepared excellent breakfasts and dinners for our group. She even arranged to get a cake for a birthday celebration.
The house is about 15 minutes from La Fortuna. One tour group picked us up at Victorinos which is just outside the main gate.
It’s a great location for a large group and dining in was convenient, economical and delicious.
Currently there are renovations underway to add a new master suite which will be beautiful. Don’t hesitate to book this piece of paradise for your stay near La Fortuna.

Beautiful house and property. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, friendly staff. 10 minutes from La Fortuna but easy to access. Plenty of wildlife to view on the property.
No wifi the 1st day and some construction going on during the stay but Joaquin and the staff were courteous about asking when we were going to be at the house to limit the noise. Great breakfast prepared at the house and other meals and services available.

Girls trip! Gorgeous home and property well maintained by caretaker Joaquin. Yadira made us a delicious lunch and breakfast. We were walking distance to supermarket and great restaurants. Felt safe. Highly recommend.
