On the whole, the staff were extremely attentive, polite and helpful. The hotel was nice and clean, with fairly spacious rooms.

Just after nine on the 21st we got back to the hotel and decided to have a night-cap to finish off the evening. Unfortunately the barman was particularly ill-mannered - behaviour which resulted in all three of us walking straight out. With the exception of the above incident, the rest of the staff were first class and extremely helpful. Highly recommended.

Easy to find, good service at reception.

Convenient but dated, the communal areas especially.

Children running up and down corridors screaming - not the hotels direct fault, but could be better policed. No air con and room was very hot over night - noisy to open windows. Staff pleasant but not the happiest bunch. Pricy for what it is.

The breakfast provided a good selection of hot and cold food and the swimming pool was nice, despite being on the small side.

The rooms were very tired and run down with marks and scratches all over the walls and doors. The toilet room was so small you can barely close the door. The fans from outside of the hotel were also very noisy, so little sleep was had.

We have stayed in this hotel previously and it's very convenient for the cruise terminal. The bar area is nice and light and the hotel overall very clean

The rooms felt a bit dated and could really do with a refresh/redecoration. Our room had a separate toilet from the main bathroom which was really tiny. Whilst nice to have a bath tub it was very small.

Property is in prime location

Swimming pool waiting time was over an hour in the reception as they only allow 20 at a time with no timt limit.

Very helpfull and friendly staff. Although there was no airco the staff will do anything to make you comfortable. The breakfast was very very nice and the quality perfect! Thank you so much for a lovely stay! I read the previous reviews but staff and the hotel deserve a ultra big compliment!

The check in service had a bit of asparkle to it with extras for children - really unexpected but a thrill for them that really started the holiday on a good note. The room was clean and the extra touches of branded soaps again puts this beyond expecattion. And although as others have said the pool and gym are small they again go beyond what you can expect at this price point especially on a weekend - it provided another space and exciting extra to the holiday. All in all these small additions set the novotel away from the the standard experience.

Superb location for Southampton town centre and our visit to the Mayflower theatre. Everything is within walking distance. This hotel has an incredible breakfast selection to set you up for your day and the indoor pool and sauna was a wonderful treat. All the staff we spoke to were welcoming, professional and kind. We liked the added security touches on the foyer doors and our room was great.

Nothing to mention, although we could hear some noise from the dockyard over the road during the night.

The hotel had a large variety of foods which you could choose from and the food exceeded my expectations

The room was fine and clean and not bad for the price. The location was really good for the shopping centre and access to the ferry for isle of Wight.

The room was fine, the breakfast was a bit too expensive so we did not have this. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was because it had a pool. My husband and I have 3 kids and this was our only couple of nights away on our own. On 2 different occasions we could not get access to the pool. Once because it was full and once because it was having work done on it. The location was great but we could have stayed somewhere for cheaper without the pool.

The place is old and not maintained for a 4 star hotel. Carpets are full of marks. Toilet is so enclosed with white walls feel like the prison toilet as seen on movies.
