Original Lucerne-in-Maine cabin

Enjoyed the scenery!

We recently spent 10 days at his cabin and while there were aspects of the trip that we appreciated, several significant issues marred our experience.
Positives: good location, offering a charming appeal and a quiet atmosphere. The owner did respond fairly quickly to our concerns, although follow-ups sometimes required multiple attempts.
Concerns:
Cleanliness and Maintenance: Unfortunately, the cabin did not meet our expectations for cleanliness. There were wood scraps and other trash around the property, and we encountered a rodent problem with mice droppings present on most surfaces. We had to clean all surfaces ourselves before use, which was both time-consuming and unsettling.
Lack of Welcome Information: There was no welcome packet or informational guide in the cabin, which would have been helpful for navigating the property's amenities and addressing issues like the power outages we experienced.
Water: The water was non-potable, and drinking water would be supplied, which was mentioned on the website. The owner provided only a single gallon of water for our 10 day stay and we had to request additional supplies.
Overall Experience: Despite the cabin's potential, the lack of attention to detail and unresolved issues significantly impacted our stay. We expected a cleaner environment, more responsive service, and better communication from the owner. Unfortunately, the reality did not align with these expectations.

My cousin and I needed a place to stay while visiting Acadia and this was perfect. I wanted my own room, a clean shower, a fire pit to cook on, and fresh mountain air.
The cabin has basic amenities, great for a low maintenance stay.

We spent the weekend while visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
Quaint cabin but close to town. Enjoyed the firepit. Great for our dogs.
My only constructive feedback is that the beds could have been more comfortable.

At the time I booked the property It was advertised with a fridge and oven. I arrived to find the property had no oven at all, and a dorm sized fridge. It was also advertised as having AC, but in reality It only had a single window unit in the living room that wasn’t even big enough to cool that room, let alone the bedrooms and the rest of the house. I messaged the property owner, and her response was just that it’s usually cold there and the property is rustic, and she changed the listing for future users. We had to throw away a bunch of food as there was no way to cook it, but found the trash was already full. It took the owner two days to empty it so we’d have someplace to put our trash in the meantime, mice got into the property ate through some of our soft shell luggage, and got into all the food that could not fit in the small bread box or dorm fridge. I would have rather stayed at a KOA campground in a tent where at least I’d have clean water and a cooler with me to store my food away from animals. Profoundly disappointed.

This is a fabulous cabin and the host is lovely and the check in process is great and location is great! That said, the kitchen is lacking and not quite as advertised. There was no oven. The fridge is a mini fridge which was very limiting. The stove top is really just a two burner hot plate which functions but is very slow. That said, for the rustic and wonderful location, it was just great!

My sister and my daughter and I love staying in this almost 100 year old and hand built cabin tucked in the woods surrounded by rhododendron trees. It is an older property so some things are old., but this added to the charm and the feeling of being part of the old main woods. Thank you for sharing your home with us

We really enjoyed the cozy cabin in the woods. It truly felt like the cabins we both visited as children. Loved all of it.

Interior clean but very dark. Ceiling fan on porch not working. Repairs were being done to deck so anything replaced was just thrown off side of deck. View from screened in porch obstructed buy large water holding tank or septic tank. Beds very uncomfortable. Water not working first day property owner was able to have turned on within a few hours of our texting her. Had booked for 9 days left after 3 days.

Beautiful scenic location in between Bangor and Acadia with a well stocked market within a 9 minute drive. Only complaint is the internet suffered during the rain, but cable still worked.

We enjoyed our stay here. The place is just as we had hoped, a nice cabin in the woods. We used this as our basecamp to take day trips to Acadia. It's about an hour away, but the drive is easy and nice. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us.

This cabin was the perfect location for our stay in Maine. The cabin was charming and had all the amenities. We were able to relax on the screened in porch and watch the mountain disappear into darkness. It was also a short drive to Acadia where we spent our days hiking. The host was kind and helpful.

The cabin was rustic and had its own charm. It was nice after a day in Acadia to come back and grill dinner and have a outside fire and relax.

This rustic cottage was better than anticipated from listing and some reviews. It was perfect for us and our 2 pups and had everything we needed. It rained making us unable to use fire pit and great deck. Loved the screened porch. It was a little further from Arcadia than we though. We only spent 2 nights and if our stay was longer we would have explored the area. The inside fireplace was relaxing and warm while we listened to the rain.

This was a unique stay near Acadia National Park! It was very peaceful to stay in the woods in a rustic cabin and the surrounding area was very beautiful. However, I had a couple worries with the stay: having to reach out to the owner after our check in time to get instructions on how to access the building and the water situation. It would have been nice to know about the water issues prior to checking in but we made it work! Overall, this is a very neat place and I would recommend staying here.

The water went out the day after we arrived. We were told it would be 5 or 6 days before it could be fixed. They brought us bottles of water for flushing the toilet. We couldn’t shower/bathe. They offered for us to go to a campground 7 miles down the road to shower/bathe. That’s not practical when you have a family of 5 to do every day of your vacation. We couldn’t cook or do the dishes. They stopped communicating with me on the repairs. So we had to go to a hotel instead. They refused to give me a credit or refund. Honestly it was the worst vacation.

Very tranquil secluded cottage. It’s rustic, but that’s what we were looking for. Will stay there again!

Rustic cabin experience
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property manager was quick to respond, polite, and very helpful when we had questions. We recommend this listing.
Note: The property doesn't just have a cabin feel, it is (italics) a cabin. If you're looking for comfortable hotel-level convenience, this might not be for you. You're in the woods so there are bugs. The water isn't always consistent (not the fault of the property, but the area). But the rustic experience is real and we loved every minute of it. There is a beautiful stone fireplace inside and the place came with its own wood and drinkable water. For colder months there's two outdoor firepits and the patio area is both private and nice. I don't think the pictures do it justice.

October getaway
Fireplace nice but except for first night, we had to buy our own firewood. Unfortunately, mice along with their poop, all over the kitchen. Feeble water pressure not adequate for showering. Water had bad taste so we bought our own. Grill wouldn’t light. Mattress was comfortable. Very hard to turn around in the driveway with a full sized pickup. Easy driving to see the beauty of Downeast. Great TV and WiFi. Nice screened in porch to take in the sunsets.

Property was not clean. Oven was dirty. Fridge showing rust. Beautiful location. A little cold.
Average. Location good but kitchen
not clean and only heat was a space heater. Fireplace was suspect. Needs flue cleaned.

Great Stay
Overall great stay. Clean, easy to get to, well stocked, quiet location. My only caveat is that “lake view” is a bit of a stretch but over great stay- we’d definitely stay again.

Fresh air. September is a great month to come to this camp. Very cozy and great place to read and chill. We want for nothing. See you next year.

Beautiful near Bangor!
This place was absolutely beautiful and nicely tucked in a little woodsy area. The description was a little misleading with the Waterfront, the lake was somewhat visible but nearly as much as I thought it would be. Otherwise, my partner, dog, and I all had a very nice stay and felt this was a very special little cabin. We definitely can't wait to come back!

Amazing place
This is a gem.. The cabin feels like u r secluded in the woods but u r not far from a highway. The grounds r beautiful...The cabin is cozy and unique. The fireplace is amazing and the outside deck is big with a firpit. We went around Arcadia and bar harbor and was able to back and enjoy the peace and quite. Our host got back to us very quickly with any questions we had. This is a place to go to reconnect with family and forget what is happening in the world...

impression
the cabin could be very nice if some things were done - better lighting inside, clearing of landscaping around the cabin and some work at the end of the driveway. it makes it very dark and not welcoming at first sight. the water went out the night before we were to check out. we contacted the owner, but never heard back from him until the next morning. we had no water the last 15 hours of our stay. he didn't seem concerned and didn't offer us any type of compensation.

Rustic Mountain Cabin in Maine
It was a real adventure for us to have the chance to stay here and we loved it! Enjoyed all the special touches that made us feel right at home. We enjoyed grilling out on the deck and waking to all the mysteries of nature. We were in Maine for a family wedding so were filled with all of those activities and didn't get to Cadillac Mountain but hiking and Schoodic (sp?) Point was wonderful, as was our lobster dinner at High Tide. What a beautiful area this is!

Could use an update and cleaning
Good location, small but homey. Yard is a mess with discarded grills, tackle boxes, etc. lack of outlets, showers in the claw foot tub were interesting to say the least. Needs a deep cleaning, yard cleanup a new shower and more outlets.

My girlfriend and I had a great time here. The house was cozy and a comfortably place to stay. Our favorite part was having coffee on the screened in front porch.
