House and neighborhood was perfect! Host responsive and friendly with a house that had everything. We walked on the beach daily despite storm Debbie looming! Duck has the perfect amount of restaurants and shops! Allowed for time with family which is always the best!!

This home is nice and steps to the ocean. That is fabulous. The beach is absolutely stunning!
The kitchen is fully stocked and the property manager is very responsive as we had a few problems and they worked to resolve them quickly.
The pool is a community pool and quite a distance from the home. They have a lot of rules so the pool was not much fun.
Our beach wagon broke two days into the trip.causing us to try and carry everything to the beach. On our last day, two maintenance men came and brought a new one for the next customers. That was disheartening. They also assembled a new grill and said , the grill we used was in terrible condition. We knew that, yet used it the whole week.
We had a wonderful time in OBX yet the cost of the house, approximately 5,000.00 for the week was a lot for the older home and its amenities.

We enjoyed our stay at Writer's Refuge. This home is clean, comfortable and well equipped. Location to the town of Duck and beach access is very convenient for guests interested in sunbathing or shopping and dining out. There are some things needing a little TLC. Some outdoor equipment and furniture requires maintenance or replacement, ie: rusty/ torn beach cabanas and umbrella stands/ table and chairs on upper deck. Bedroom space is tight for 10 people, we had 7 adults, 2 small children. Sliding door to small "writer's deck" is difficult to open and close. Several table lamps needed light bulbs replaced. There is no controlling the weather and it was rainy before and during our stay. The nearby parking lot next to the house was a pond the entire week due to inadequate drainage/grading and that extended into the side/ backyard of this property. We did not take advantage sitting on the first floor deck due to high mosquito activity there. Screen door on the upper deck is flapping loosely letting in flies/ mosquitos.

We loved our stay at Pineapple by the Sea! We loved the community and being steps away from the beach! This house was perfect for our party of 5 adults and 3 teenagers, incredibly spacious and equipped with every thing imaginable! We look forward to renting here again in the future!

We really enjoyed our stay at Patty and Lane’s home in Duck. Their house was impeccably clean upon arrival and was exactly like the listing. It has everything you need for a relaxing week at the OBX. The beach is a short walk from the house which was fantastic especially since we had our 3 month old granddaughter with us. I definitely recommend their home to anyone looking for a great place to stay.
One note: Don’t follow Google Map’s directions to get to the place. It takes you down the wrong street that does not have access to the property.

You can’t beat this location! STEPS from an absolutely gorgeous beach- what more could we ask for?! The house was decent- definitely not the most up to date, but for the price and location you can’t beat it! Patty was great to work with. She even recommended a photographer for us to get family pics done while we were there. Thanks for a great trip to the OBX!

We had a great vacation at this house. It was beautifully decorated and everything was accurate to the listing. The house is in a great spot where you can see the sunrise and the sunset. We would definitely go back to this home.

The house was lovely. Description was accurate. Everything you could need was provided. Close to a lot of restaurants and little grocer. Very, very quiet and secluded. A nice area to stay in. Kids played outside in a shady yard and driveway.
House itself was convenient. Kitchen was fully stocked. Plenty of space to spread out.
It is a much farther walk to the beach than anticipated. There are stairs to go up and then sand down a dune. This is really difficult if you have kids, coolers, carts, etc. We stay on the beach 9-5 so if you just go for a bit and don't have a lot then it would be easier. We are used to first row being much easier to access the beach.

Our stay was wonderful. It was so easy to walk into the house and get settled in. We have stayed at a number of beach houses on the East Coast, but this was our first stay at the Outer Banks. We fell in love with the area and the house! Its proximity to the beach was key, and with the owners providing beach chairs and beach towels, it made the beach experience very easy. We had our own beach tent so didn't use the umbrellas but did note there was one or two there if need be.
We also took advantage of the pool that was located about 1.5 miles away. It was not busy when we went and very refreshing. Note this is not a pool where you can toss a ball or bring a tube (it's part of the tennis and racquet club for members/guests), but for us and our kids (ages 11 and 13), it was a perfect way to spend a couple of hours.
In the house, Patty provided everything you would need.
There were towels, sheets, extra pillows, blankets, kitchen towels, pots, pans, knives, serving dishes, a few spices, and a large brita in the fridge. We visited the Harris Teeter in Carolla on the Sunday after we arrived and we were able to find what we needed. We went out a few meals in Duck and then went exploring down Route 12 into other OBX towns for a few meals. The center of the town of Duck (about 3 miles from house) is cute with boutique type stores and lovely souvenir shops.
All in all, we had a fantastic time. Thank you to Patty for making it easy to create a home away from home!

This house is spacious and comfortable. It's very close to the beach, which is a distinct advantage. Coming from a long distance away, it was so helpful not to have to pack beach chairs, beach toys, umbrellas, and boogie boards. All of those amenities are included, and we made use of them. Lots of beach toys and crabbing nets to use. We enjoyed our vacation here.

This is my family’s second time renting this house and you can’t beat the location or the beautiful home. My husband loves surf fishing and the beach in walking distance to the house has amazing fishing and a beautiful clean beach.

The property was very nice. Great location, in two minutes you're on the beach. Patty supplied everything - sheets, towels, even beach towels, umbrellas, chairs, and a cart to transport everything to the beach. Beds were comfortable and four different decks. Communication was great. Beach is closed to the public so not crowded, at all.

This house is lovely and is stocked with so many essentials. What I loved most is that the beds were very comfortable, and also that everyone had their own space if they wanted it. The common areas are spacious and accommodate a large family very nicely. One other thing to note is that we had an infant and some loud snorers, and none could be heard during the night. It was a great find!

This property was extremely clean & very well equipped & comfortable. There was more than enough room for the 7 of us (3 people could not join at the last minute). The walk to the beach was short & the beach area was not crowded. We enjoyed our vacation very much!

We had a great experience here! There were four kids (6wks, 2, 6, and 9) and 6 adults. The only downsides were the railing around the top of the spiral staircase (too far spaced so we really had to make sure our 2 yr old didn’t try to go through them) and that there was no bathroom on the main floor with the kitchen/living room. Otherwise the house was nice and clean and in a great location! Tons of beach supplies to use and a quick walk to the beach, which wasn’t too busy despite being the middle of July. We enjoyed our stay!!

Perfection!!
This house had everything that we needed and more! Our group enjoyed cooking and enjoying meals together and hanging out in the huge kitchen/dining/living space. The bedrooms were perfect for the six of us. The 1-2 minute walk to the beach was just right and all of the chairs and beach blankets you need are provided. And the wagon was perfect for lugging everything f there and back. Our favorite feature was the outdoor shower. We’ll never stay anywhere near a beach without one again. We had an amazing experience and have nothing negative to say about this house!

Perfect in every way
We enjoyed a very special time in Patty's lovely beach home; the location, layout, spaciousness, and attention to details provided us with an experience that, I believe, we could not have found anywhere else in the Outer Banks.

We are so happy we found this listing. The property is located in a minutes walk from the beach. It’s a beautiful location with private beach access. The house had all the amenities and was thoughtfully decorated. Having the fully functional kitchen was fantastic. Everything you needed was right there. Patty was wonderful to work with and so responsive to needs. We can’t wait to go back!

Perfect location
My family and I (2 adults/2 teens) very much enjoyed our stay at this beach home. The house was clean and nicely decorated. There was a nice open layout on the top floor with plenty of space to spread out. Having a screened in porch in addition to all of the deck space was very nice. It was an easy, short walk to both the ocean and the bay. The house was just a short drive from the downtown of Duck which offers many nice restaurants and shops. There’s also a nice path to walk or bike there as well.

Wonderful two weeks by the beach
The top floor of the house is spacious and open with tons of light. It is a comfortable and cheery space to cook and eat meals, hang out with family, and look out to the ocean and roof tops. The outdoor decks are accessible and have comfortable furniture for outdoor lounging. The bedrooms were on the smaller side, but comfortable and had plenty of space to put away clothes. The two bathrooms were adequate-one with a shower and one with a tub. The outdoor shower was great and the most used shower in the house! The proximity of the house to the beach is the best feature of all and for this, we plan to be back. The Sanderling community is quiet and the beaches are beautiful and never too crowded. We also enjoyed having access to the pool. Great place to vacation!

Summer Stay in Duck
We enjoyed our stay at Writers Refuge the second week of August. The walk to the beach was very quick and easy. The house was fine for relaxing after busy days outside and everyone found their private space comfortable.

Close to the Beach!
The property is just a minute’s walk from a beautiful beach. Kitchen, living room, screen porch and decks are large and nicely and completely furnished. The bedrooms and bathrooms are small but entirely adequate and who wants to stay in bed when the sand and waves are so close? The outdoor shower has hot water - an unexpected luxury! The house accommodated two entire families - one with little kids and the other with teens.

Lovely home with a short walk to the beach
This was a great house for our family vacation. The open floor plan living area was great for family time. The dining table easily accommodated 10 people, and the kitchen was well stocked with cookware and utensils. Patty was an excellent host and responded to questions extremely quickly.
