We had the absolute best time at Happy Trails! The house has an awesome layout for multiple families and really has everything you need! We were very grateful for the boot/glove warmers as our trip did see a few 50 degree days on the mountain so it was a little slushy. The house is walkable even for a 3 year old in ski boots to the roadrunner and off we went! David was very helpful through out our stay and was incredibly accommodating with any question or request! Beds are super comfy and the radiant floor heating kept things at the perfect temperature through out our stay of 20-50 degree weather conditions. one thing I’d say would be helpful to know is bottom floor has a queen & two double sized bunk beds plus enough room for a pack and play! Highly recommend & thank you to the owners for sharing their place … true gem!

We had a great stay at Happy Trails in the week leading up to and over New Years! The area had been hit hard with a storm the week prior, but the mountain did a great job making the best out it. Road Runner was open and we were able to ski in-ski out no problem. This was great as we had 9 kids in the 7-13yr old age range.
Dave was great to communicate with during our stay as well as the week leading up (given the crazy storm that had hit). The house is is updated and well stocked with everything you need.
We'll be back again soon as we loved the home and that area of the mountain!

Guys trip for a end of season shred. More then enough room and beds for 10 adults. The room on the lower level to gear up for the day is clutch. Easy ski on, ski off. Shuttle to take you to the nightlife action. Large great room or back deck for all to hang after the trails and enjoy some cocktails and dinner. Owner David is great. Easy to contact and makes the rental process simple. We will definitely be returning next year!

David was a great host and the house is very well appointed and very much loved. We spent a weekend here with extended family and had a great time. The location of the house can’t be beat and I hope to stay here again.

Awesome house in a great location. Easy ski-on/off access to Roadrunner Trail. Well-stocked kitchen. Great dining area for a large crowd. Plenty of beds and towels. Outdoor hot tub with heated mats on the deck! We even grilled one night!
Dave was fantastic as a host. Kept us well-informed and responded quickly to any questions that I had.
Would stay there again for sure!

Wonderful stay at this on mountain house! The house came with every amenity possible, including an incredible ice making machine that provided endless, perfect ice! The home owners were incredibly pleasant and accommodating. The fireplace needed some attention during our stay and David had a service person out immediately to fix. Thank you so much for letting us enjoy the Happy Trails house! We'd love to come back!

We booked David's house for a weekend ski getaway with some old friends and it was the perfect place to stay. David was so accommodating and made the stay great! Location was perfect as it was only a short walk to get right on the trail. I will definitely be booking again

Great Visit
Went with a group on our annual ski trip... plenty of room for 8 people. Hot tub was a plus. Easy access to the mountain, short walk down the road to the trails to White Cap lift. The house was clean and roomy with all the kitchen gadgets you need to have good meals.. we even used the BBQ. Dave is a great host and was willing to facilitate an early entry by someone who was the skiing the day we arrived. He kept in touch with us and addressed all questions we had. Overall, it was a great home to use for a ski trip and we hope to be back.

Awesome family Christmas ski vacation.
We had an amazing time at Happy Trails. The house was perfect and had plenty of room for all to spread out. The hot tub after a day in the slopes was welcomed by all! We’ll be back again for sure!

Awesome cabin feel with lots and lots of room
Overall great experience David was an amazing host and house over exceeded our expectations. There is so much space with 5 bedrooms and living room area in the bottom floor that can also be turned into a bedroom with the futon style bed in ther.

Best Ski House
Everything about this house reflects the fact the owners are skiers and recognize the unique needs of skiers, from hooks everywhere to hang jackets and other clothing, to boot driers, to an ice machine, to a spacious deck and hot tub. Thanks David!!

This house is awesome. Just a few steps away from the Roadrunner trail. House is super clean, with plenty of space. The hot tub hits the spot after a day on the slopes! Steve, owner, is very responsive.

Relaxing getaway
Beautiful house near the ski trail. Very convenient location, especially now. My kids went skiing by themselves and came home when wanted. No need to wait for everyone in the car. The house itself is gorgeous. Everything is super clean. The spa is a must after the day of skiing. The owner was very welcoming. He even left us a generous gift basket that saved our Christmas. I highly recommend this property and will hopefully return myself

Good till the last day
The property would be perfect if we had had good snow. Although it was tough skiing that is not the fault of the home. Unfortunately, on the last day my entire family excluding the babies thank goodness, contracted the Covid 19 virus. We were all tested before we left and tested again when we returned and we were negative then positive. Fortunately it did not spoil our vacation but we are all still recuperating. .

Great Property, Ideal Location for Ski Access
Our family group (6 adults, 5 kids) drove from Nova Scotia, Montreal and Virginia to spend New Year's at Sunday River. We had high expectations for our stay and they were exceeded. The property has a great layout and is furnished in true ski lodge style throughout with a cozy fireplace, open kitchen and large dining area at the centre. A large wraparound deck and hot tub with nice privacy fencing/lighting is just outside. Bedrooms are spread out over three levels and bunk beds provide maximum sleeping capacity. The house is well stocked with a ski gear drying rack, a slow cooker, puzzles & DVDs, plenty of towels and lots of helpful instructions/local information. The icing on the cake was the location which is on a quiet street within sight of the Roadrunner slope and an easy walk for even the 5-year-old in our group. The lifts accessible from Roadrunner were less crowded than those at the main Sunday River lodge and a great place to start your ski day. Access was convenient enough to return for lunch or a break and then ski some more or it is also only a short drive to any of the Sunday River base areas. We brought a few sleds and our kids enjoyed making a sledding run and snow fort in the yard and driveway. Our host David was very accessible and responsive without ever needing to meet in person. Highly recommended, particularly for larger groups!

Great stay at Happy Trails!
We had a great weekend at Happy Trails. The house had everything we needed and more! The living spaces were very comfortable and so were the bedrooms. It was very easy to walk across the road to the trails - having the ski on/off access made it easy to come home for lunch and get right back on the trails. Dave was very helpful and easy to contact if we had any questions. We are looking forward to staying at Happy Trails again - thanks!!

The house is gorgeous! Everything ablout it screams vacation from the ski themed decoration, the cozy beds, hot tub, large windows, huge dining table perfect for larger groups, and both ‘adult’ living room on the main floor and kid friendly den downstairs. The proximity to slopes meant we could come and go as we pleased and avoid the crowd at the main lodge, parking nightmares and shuttles. We were spoiled. Dave was a great host, readily available for questions, with a welcoming and warm demeanor. Very comfortable for large groups.

Fantastic and warming slope side house along Road Runner Trail at Sunday River
17 other guys and myself recently stayed at David's house over super bowl weekend and we had a great time! The house was within a 2 to 2.5 minute walk or so to the road runner trail and was easily accessible which is a huge plus. It makes such a huge difference when you don't have to drive anywhere. We were actually able to ski home from the Foggy Goggle as well which was an adventure in and of it's own right but doable. The house itself had very comfortable beds and room to sleep all of us. The house was clean and warm. Although only a few of us used the hot tub, those who used it were well relaxed after a long day of skiing. David was very accommodating as he provided us with a tour of the house over the phone and gave us great suggestions where to go out and eat dinner. David was always a call/text away if we had any issues...which we did not. He wanted us to utilize the house and have fun doing it! I felt very comfortable renting from David and will hopefully do so in the near future. Great house and I would definitely recommend renting this house if you are planning a trip to Sunday River in the near future!

Great house & location
My group of 8 stayed here over MLK weekend and loved it! Dave was very responsive and hospitable. When we arrived, he walked us through the house over the phone. The house was clean, spacious, and the hot tub was awesome! The access to the mountain is so easy and we really enjoyed how close we were to the local restaurants and bars. Fantastic property and WALK to trail!
My husband and I hosted our entire family —children and grandchildren— for Christmas in the mountains. Happy Trails helped make for an exceptional vacation. We found the home to be well equipped, cozy but with lots of space. The bunk rooms were perfect for the individual families and the master bedroom was spacious and let us old folks escape a little earlier! Our son and daughter in law loved the lower bedroom with their daughter and six month old...perfect fo late night interruption during midday naps!
We set up a table for games and puzzles and also brought our own Christmas tree...once again, plenty of room. At the end of the day We enjoyed our glass of wine (or two) in the wonderful hot tub! So fun.
A vacation at Sunday River never disappoints..best snow conditions possible. We even had a whole day of heavy rain and still skied the next day! Whether you want to walk a very short distance to a trail or drive to Barker or South Lodge, all is very easy and convenient.

Ski trip - Owner was great and super responsive, house was nice and great location!
Our first stay at Sunday River! We stayed here with 6 adults, 5 teenagers, and 4 young ones. It was an ideal location because we could walk to the Roadrunner trail to ski to the mountain without having to drive - the teenagers loved that. We did drive them over to the mountain for Night Skiing to South Ridge - which is about a 3 minute drive from the house. The hot tub was great, the house was nice and there were lots of beds. The owner was great - was very responsive and in constant contact to make sure we had everything we needed. Very enjoyable and tiring stay!

Excellent Stay and Clear Rules
We really appreciated the care put into making quality instructions which made staying here easy for us as much as it makes it easy for the owners. There was tons of space for everyone and the hot tub was a nice bonus.

Beautiful home!
Rented this gorgeous cabin for a wedding, stuffed 20 people inside, and it couldn't have gone better! Was close enough to the hotel to get put on the shuttle route and housed us all for two beautiful days. The hot tub is clutch, the kitchens and bathrooms we're spotless, and we grilled and had the fire pit going both days. Thank you so much David & Linda!

Great Location & Ideal for Large Groups
Stayed at Dave’s place for three nights (thurs-sun) in mid August with 13 of my old college buddies (early 30s) to play a scramble golf tournament at Sunday River Country Club. The location of this house was ideal considering we spent two of the three days playing golf. It is 7 min from the course which was super convient. The last day that we were there we just stayed at the house, grilled and played yard games. The house is in excellent shape and working with David was very easy and straightforward. He was very flixble with payments which was important for the size of our group with everyone paying their own way. Couldn’t have worked out better. I’d love to do something in the winter there, seems like it would be a dream.
