Pictures did not show how spacious and open this lovely cabin is. I can't wait for a return trip! If i could say one thing that would have made it better, it would be a king size bed in downstairs bedroom.Everything else was PERFECT!

Amazing, just amazing. While familiar with the area, we did not realize that there was the perfect home for a planned vacation that provided an amazing deck with a view (we spent a lot of time here), comfort and space in the master suite. Space throughout the house and the multiple level of decks. We were amazed at the privacy of the location of the house. A true retreat. This will be the only place we stay for our annual trip to Galena going forward.

The property was absolutely beautiful and the location was exceptionally private. My husband and I stayed four nights, mainly as an opportunity to relax, reset and enjoy each other, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. This was the PERFECT setting as it is nestled in a serene landscape of trees, water and nature. We thoroughly enjoyed the cozy architecture of the log cabin, and picturesque view of Lake Galena on the large covered deck (that has a hot tub!). The location was close enough to Galena to make popping in to town for dinner or drinks very easy. Another plus was the full service spa just a few minutes away. The property was very clean, and we appreciated there wasn’t a long list of checkout duties. We didn’t have any issues while staying there so I can’t comment to owner responsiveness, but pre check in communication was timely and thorough. We recommend this property to anyone looking to get away with their significant other. We would rebook in a heartbeat.

We have stayed at this lovely property several times, and it is absolutely PEACE personified. Unmatched views and tranquility. This home with it's soaring log beams and comfy touches at every turn just makes us feel like we're coming home every time. Thank you Mike and Skippy for taking such good care of us during our stay. The cottage was gorgeous and very clean. Beautiful view of the sunset on the lake. The property host was very helpful in answering all of our questions. We had a wonderful time and would love to stay again!

My husband and I stayed at the Cottage for our 15 year anniversary, for a weekend in March. We wanted somewhere that would have things to do no matter the weather. This place has it all! We even got to watch a thunderstorm roll in off the lake, while sitting cozy on the massive porch.

It was clean, well kept and had great views. It is far from town, so be sure to pack accordingly.

Our fifth or sixth time staying at the property, it is definitely our favorite in the Galena area. Always cozy and inviting, even in the middle of winter. We enjoyed grilling out, warming by the fire, and watching the ice fishermen out on the lake. Noticed new appliance upgrades this time around, which was lovely. Maybe one suggestion is to upgrade the mattress in the upstairs bedroom and possibly the shower handle. Other than that, always a treat.

Great quiet location making a relaxing day really easy. Mike makes the stay as easy as possible. Much appreciated!

This place was perfect for a weekend getaway. So cozy and the property manager was excellent to work with. The hot tub had trouble getting hot with how cold it was outside so we unfortunately weren’t able to use it but the jacuzzi tub in the master was a perfect backup. We will definitely be back.

We spent the New Year’s weekend with friends at the house. The view is so beautiful and we enjoyed just sitting in front of the fireplace while we watched football. The location is great, the house has everything you need, and Galena is only a short drive for yummy food.

This is our second time at the Galena cabin and just like our initial stay, we were pleased and enjoyed our Christmas break. Highly recommend!

Mike & Skippy's place is truly fantastic. We escape there every December. We've been blessed to travel many places in the country. The view out of the window could be in Minnesota, the Smoky's, New England, or out west somewhere. We are blessed to have it in our "Illinois" back yard!

One of the best, coziest Vacation Rentals I've ever stayed in. Great for a couple looking for an idyllic retreat or for two couples looking for a long-weekend getaway. I am seriously considering booking it again next year. The house even came pre-decorated for the holidays!

Lovely, picturesque cottage on the lake. We enjoyed this house immensely!

We had a great stay at this beautiful cabin/cottage. Very spacious and view is fantastic. Loved the covered stone porch and the satellite music pumped through the whole place and outside! The only cons were that it looks like kitchen faucet needs some attention or needs to be replaced. Also, it states in the description that this is handicap accessible, however, that does not appear to be true, as someone in a wheelchair would not be able to climb into the shower downstairs. There also is no wheelchair access to get into the cabin or out to the porches, as there are steps to go from inside to outside. There is a lot to do in the area!

Log house with lake view. The best part is no traffic noise at all! The night sky is beautiful. I believe it is a designated dark sky area. Great for a long weekend.

We could live here! Beautiful, peaceful, the view is amazing, hot tub…amazing. The stars…perfect. The place is huge for just two people, we could have lived on the covered porch alone. The historical richness of the area is surprising, seek out the little, short spots and take the tours - you won’t be sorry you did. We saw the recreated Fort in Elizabeth, toured Grant’s home and the Dowling house, and of course walked up and down Main Street. We will be back!

Mike and Skippy, Thank you for creating the beautiful cottage for everyone to enjoy! We found ourselves spending most of our time relaxing at the cottage. Our morning coffee was held on the front porch followed by a walk around the territories. The hot tub on the sun deck was a great way to enjoy our morning beverages upon our return or just to sit and watch the activities begin on the lake. The wooded area and wild flowers around the cottage and the lake view provided so many sights wild life. The rabbits, squirrels, geese, deer and eagles were fascinating to watch. The sound system in all areas of the house and on the back deck was a pleasant surprise. We played many classic songs while reminiscing. Thank you for an enjoyable 39th wedding anniversary experience. We plan to return again!! Many thanks!

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend in Galena. The cabin was beautiful, clean and had a great view of the lake. We also enjoyed access to the owners club for swimming since it was a hot weekend. We definitely want to come back!

Wonderful place to stay. Location is perfect. Close to lots of things to do. Favorite activity for me was to read on the covered back deck as it rained looking out over the lake.
