We had a great time staying at the Paddy Shack for our family vacation. The house itself was very nice with an open concept that was perfect for spending time with the family. The beach area was great especially for our 3 year old daughter. It is hard to find both a family and pet friendly place to stay and this checked off all our boxes. Our hosts were so helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable!

We had a great stay. Ellen and Pat were excellent hosts and the house had everything you could possibly nee for a week at the lake!

Pat & Ellen are gracious hosts! The house was spotless and attention was given to small things travelers might need, like sunblock and forgotten toothbrushes. The furniture is comfy and we loved how they had everything from paper plates to weighty cutlery and wine and martini glasses. There are even s'mores sticks to roast your marshmallows by the fire pit. They made it clear not to hesitate to ask if there was anything else we might need. It's a short walk down a fairly steep hill to get to the lake. We pretty much had the small sandy beech to ourselves our entire week there. There were plenty of chairs and tables and lots of flotation devices, including a chaise lounge (my favorite!) and a water pad. My husband & I enjoyed the kayaks, and our daughter enjoyed showing us all up on the paddle board. If you are looking for a nice private retreat to get away with your family (only 5-6 other houses grouped on the road) this is a great spot! Within a 10 minute ride is a really nice brewpub/full restaurant/outdoor creamery with an excellent breakfast/lunch diner across the street. Hannaford's market only 15 minutes away. Lots of great day trips within 30 minutes (like Wolfeboro & Weird beach) to an hour (like Portsmouth and York Maine beaches).

This rental checks the important boxes - clean, warm, comfortable, and well-stocked. Plus you couldn't ask for better hosts! We were there for a storm that took out power in wee hours of the morning to 600,000 residents, including ours. Pat was at our door at 8am to start the generator and make sure we had everything we needed. As a courtesy caution to anyone who brings their dog, please know that the neighbor has a not-so-friendly German Sheppard who is let out to go potty off leash. To avoid conflict, we simply took our dog out after theirs was back inside. This shouldn't deter anyone from staying here - just be aware if the dog happens to be out. We would definitely stay again and can imagine it would be great fun in the summer with access to the lake! We were here for the entire month of October, and the trees were absolutely beautiful.

We had an excellent time. Full access to canoe, kayak, beach area. We will definitely be back. Owners are great!

The Paddy Shack was a quiet and relaxing place to stay. The kids enjoyed being outdoors. They were able to find all kinds of cool things in nature. They enjoyed fishing at the dock, kayaking and looking for frogs. Pat and Ellen were friendly and accommodating. We drove our boat up and were able to dock it for the week. The cul-de-sac was so far in that it was quiet and calm. Pat and Ellen have gone above and beyond in providing the essentials for your stay inside and outside. Awesome!

We have two young children and a dog and there was more than enough to do right on sight that we barely left. The place was immaculate, beds were comfortable, and very private. We would absolutely go back!

The location of the house was perfect for our quiet getaway. The house was clean and cozy and nicely decorated. It was stocked with firewood for a fire, plenty of dishes, linens, and towels. We loved floating in the lake on the hotter days and exploring the area for delicious restaurants.

Our family stayed at this home while we were settling in NH. The owner and his wife...and neighbors. Well, let me say this...I wish I would have bought their home so they could still be my neighbors, 3 weeks was not long enough. Pat...thank you so much. We miss you guys.

Great location. Had a low-key stay with family. Enjoyed taking quiet walks and hanging out by the lake.

We had a magical week at the lake! Our boys, ages 4.5 and almost 2 loved the little beach and the shallow water which allowed them to be independent and safe while swimming. The house had everything we needed and the owners were extremely friendly and helpful. We spent our days playing with trucks in the sand, jumping off the dock into the water, swimming and playing in the water and taking the kayaks out on the beautiful lake. We had the beach to ourselves 99% of the time which was awesome. It’s a short walk down a little road, almost like a long driveway. It’s so close my husband would walk half the way up and I’d walk halfway down from the house to swap while our little one was napping Inside so we each could be with our older son in the water a bit. Basically it was so short we could still see the house and the water half way down. It’s a bit steep though. The house had a fully stocked kitchen, plenty of towels and supplies. My bed was a little hard for me but that was my only issue all week. My boys were SO sad to leave. It was completely fantastic!

We needed some down time and this was the perfect spot and time of year. 1 bad day, rain, but other than that perfect. We live in NC and loved the crisp nights and warm days. Our hosts could not have been more gracious, they live a stone throw from our rental but we only saw them on the weekend, when we did they were the friendliest people you can find.

Every aspect of the rental was smooth from booking to arriving at the property. We all really enjoyed our stay! Your home was very accommodating, beautiful, and comfortable. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

Patty Shack is very clean, anything you need is available and the owner Pat and Ellen are very nice and accommodating. The lake is amazing! We are able to use the kayak, canoe and paddle board. Life jackets are available as well. Our 2 fur babies enjoyed the stay as well. The location is perfect for us.

Simply put, it was wonderful! The owners, Pat and Ellen, are very friendly, and available, if need be. The Paddy Shack is a special place, with special people. We will be going back for sure.

Pat & Ellen were very personable and a joy to work with! The property is very nice and relaxing, well equipped & in a great location! The visits from their dogs made it extra special for us, as we are dog lovers! We would definitely recommend staying there!

Wonderful cottage for our needs! Sparkling clean, super easy check in and great communications with the owners. This is our 3rd time staying here - we wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else.

The only downside is that the property is hard to find (on gps). Everything else was top notch. Beautiful lake a stone’s throw away. Very helpful and friendly hosts. Highly recommend it.

The property is beautifully furnished and well situated close to the water. Our boys enjoyed kayaking every morning with the boats provided. On the chilly evenings we enjoyed movies and games. It has all the charm of a lake cottage getaway with all the creature comforts of home. Owners are nearby and responsive to any questions or concerns.

We loved this place. The house feels like home. It is not only charming and wonderfully furnished but so clean. The amenities made it easy to love and enjoy. The two porches were definitely a favorite place for all. Ellen and Pat made us feel like family from the moment we arrived. They are phenomenal hosts that made our stay memorable and so special. The lake is a short walk from the house but is so serene and enjoyed at all times of the day.

Centrally located for our needs

The cottage itself was spacious, plenty of room for our family of four plus the family that occasionally dropped in to visit. It was well stocked and adorably decorated. We loved the views of the lake and appreciated the use of kayaks while were there. We have only good things to say about the entire rental experience. We hope to have another opportunity to stay at the Paddy Shack.

We had a wonderful time staying here. Ellen and Pat are very nice and so are their dogs. Would have given it 5 stars but in the pics there was no mention of another house directly in front of this one blocking your view of the lake. Wasn't really an issue with us but worth mentioning. Also, just for anyone wondering about cellphone service, we have AT&T and had no problems with a signal and the house has free Wi-Fi !! We would definitely stay here again !!

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Paddy Shack last week! We spent pretty much all day hanging out on the beach. We have two small children who loved jumping off the dock, playing on the swing set, and playing with all the beach toys. Pat and Ellen were so nice and accommodating. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed! We can't wait to come back next year!

We stayed a week at the beautiful "Paddy Shack". The accomdations were second to none. It was a small trek to the beach, but the beach area was great for swimming, fishing, playing lawn games and hanging out. Kayaks and a canoe supplied by the McGoverns who were fantastic hosts. Only reason for 4 vs 5 stars is the property itself is not directly on the water, however a 2 minute walk gets you there. Would highly recomend this property.
