Despite being an older historical home, we did not experience any haunting.
Good WiFi, comfortable furniture. Pretty location and very quiet. We never saw another person or car in the area.
Only thing it needs is an air conditioner upstairs. We stayed in the summer time and it was stifling hot up there. Would stay again

Everything about this house is wonderful. The large deck faces the river and is an inviting place for morning coffee or a bbq. We grilled on the new Weber grill twice. The covered patio is a serene place to read or eat breakfast. The house is a gem, comfortable and warm, very clean and stocked well. The location is perfect. My wife worked on zoom and I bicycled daily. The hosts obviously take pride in what they do and were very communicative. This is the best vrbo we have ever been to. It was a great week in a beautiful home.

We loved our week - a great home base to explore the area: hiking, birdwatching and waterfalls. Thanks Mario and Danielle!

Languid river, tall trees in all their shaded canopy, and an artistic hideaway. A small nook to sit and enjoy breakfast or lunch in inclement weather. An expansive deck to enjoy in fair weather. And inside all the comforts of a caring home. Oh, and be sure to notice the intriguing, intricate artwork throughout.

This is a charming and welcoming cottage on a beautiful property along the Housatonic River!!

Relaxing in Falls Village has become an annual event. This year we used the fireplace as 'ambience" rather than a necessity.
The Housatonic was not frozen during this stay so we were able to hear the Falls.
The house has has so many great places to sit and relax. Art is everywhere ! The den is perfect with couch and easy chair. The dining room and kitchen have the basics - even seasonings. The second floor is where my son finds some much needed rest on school break -,it also has another bedroom..
.
Anyone in search of peace and relaxation will enjoy the tranquility at the cottage.

Enjoyed the location, the views, the amenities, and all the details in the design and decor. A very nice weekend anniversary getaway.

It was a snowy weekend in Connecticut, but the house was warm and cozy! We are now accustomed to visiting The Cottage. Danielle and Mario have created a beautiful interior complete with "artist corner" - books on the great artists. We just enjoy staring at the River, listening to the Falls and enjoying the fireplace. Very peaceful indeed.
We are looking forward to another stay!

We were very happy to return to The Cottage at Falls Village. The weather allowed for both indoor and outdoor time. But sitting in the den with the cozy furniture and fireplce lit made our long weekend!
The master bedroom always is super comfy. You can stay in bed or sit in the little room overlookung the Housatinic. The upstairs area is perfect for some privacy and quiet. My son used it as his study.
I look forward to my next stay at The Cottage!

This was my fifth visit and my wife's fourth, and fortunately, nothing much has changed, except for some nice new deck furniture. Once we unpack and settle in, the quiet and beauty of the cottage and its location transform us. We will continue to make our April visit an annual tradition.

This is our second time staying at The Cottage. My son's school had a long weekend so the time was perfect to visit. The cottage is relaxing: fresh air, pretty glass windows and great art work throughout the home. We visited local areas but we happy to return to the comfy cottage each evening.
We will be back to enjoy more relaxation time in Falls Village!

My son and I wanted a place to stay where we could just take a deep breath and relax. This is the perfect spot! No one guessed it would be 0° for 2 days ... but there was plenty of heat AND a fireplace to keep us warm. We actually turned the heat down and shut fireplace off because the den is so cozy.
We bought several days of food and made good use of the kitchen to make dinners. (No dishwasher but no needed.)
The bedrooms were terrific! The bed in the master BR was superb. Soft bedding, excellent pillows and terrific duvet with extra blankets. The other BR is upstairs. Equally comfortable and attached to a private sitting area with nice couches (the music room). We opted for the stained glass windows, fireplace, couch and easy chair downstairs, but the other area is a bonus.
The art in the house is lovely - all calling you to look closer. We laughed at the hidden light switches - we were stumped - but found the answer(s) in the cottage handbook. The dark wood throughout the house was truly lovely. The various handpaintings in the house were nice.
Because it was so cold, we did not open other doors to the back of the house to go to the back porch. The house is ON the banks of the Housatonic River - it froze over for most of our stay. That's cold. We saw a train pass under the area below the house. Cool! We hoped to have breakfast in the room connected to the Master BR but it was too cold. Something to look forward to on our next visit!
We will be back in a few weeks. Thank you Danielle and Mario!

Perfect long weekend getaway for four adults. Nice quiet location to rejuvenate. The back porch is the perfect place for morning coffee. You could spend a couple hours just poking around the art work. Danielle was a great host and responsive to every question..

Beautiful property in perfect location. Better than the photos.

The house is wonderful. Maintains the old charm of it being built in the 1800's, with the modern upgrades of today. The gas fire place was wonderful on the cool evenings/mornings. There was a slight musty odor when we arrived, sprayed some lysol and problem solved. Great area for a very relaxing weekend or vacation. Had a great time and would stay again!

Just as advertised! Lovely, comfortable, clean. Stairs to second floor are a little steep but great lighting and railing are a huge help. We would love to return!

The Cottage at Great Falls is an absolutely perfect place to spend a weekend or longer. The house is beautifully appointed and maintained. Situated on a treed lot on a bank overlooking the Housatonic, the atmosphere is simply one of peaceful beauty. We had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay. Thanks Danielle!

Magical house on the river!
Wow! If you are even slightly considering booking this little cottage, do it!! Pictures don't do it justice. Upon arrival, you feel like you've entered a European stone cottage! The river views are stunning! Mario and Danielle have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We can't wait to plan a return visit!

Sad to leave, as usual
This was my fourth stay here and my wife's third, and we still get excited about staying here. The beauty and quiet of the location, the charm of the cottage, and the abundant wildlife make for the perfect place to unwind and recharge. We were disappointed we didn't see any trains this time, but we did see a black bear walking along the tracks! We'll be back again.

If you want to get away from everything, this is the place. It is right in the water. The sound of the waterfall is amazing.

Artisan Getaway
We wanted a quiet place to recuperate from watching three of our grandsons on a daily basis. Upon entering we felt as if we had been transported to a villa in the Italian countryside. Obviously a lot of talent and pride was accessed when updating this home. I especially liked the marble work in the bathroom. Thankyou for sharing this special place with us. Hope to make it back again soon.

Beautiful and relaxing cottage
This was my second stay at the cottage and it has been perfect both times. It has beautiful views of the river and is very close to the great falls. The cottage is very quiet and comfortable for 2 people. It also showcases some of the wonderful artwork that the owners have created which adds to the charm. It was a delightful visit!

Italy in Falls Village
Staying here felt like vacationing in Italy. Breathtaking views of the Housatonic river, beautiful art work throughout the house and feeling like I was home the moment I walked through the door. I loved spending time relaxing, reading and just enjoying the beautiful surroundings. I look forward to returning next year in the fall. Danielle and Mario were wonderful hosts. Thank you again for a wonderful break from day to day life. It was magical.

The perfect getaway
Our stay at the cottage was everything we had hoped for. We own a retail store, which we live above, so there are always people and noise surrounding us. The peace and quiet of the cottage was life saving! After a year of working without a break, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect getaway. The cottage is delightful- like living in a museum for a week.
Danielle was very responsive, answering every question timely and completely. The Great Falls are magnificent and the area is easy to navigate by bike and car. We will definitely be back again next year.

Memorable stay in a showcase home
The house was immaculate, and all was as advertised. We spent many hours just sitting on the deck watching the river, listening to the birds and enjoying the peace and quiet. The beds were super comfortable, the kitchen well appointed, and the location was ideal for spur-of-the moment hikes on the AT or just a leisurely walk.
