The house was cute, and the location was good. We liked the woods and stream around the house and the quiet road it was on. The views of the woods out the windows were lovely. There were a few old board games for the kids, but not much else for them to do when it was raining. The TV worked well, and we had internet. The bed downstairs was a little hard and the sheets looked old. Some of the furniture was obviously old, but we didn't use a lot of it anyway. The kids stayed in the loft and thought that was fun. The downstairs shower didn't seem to get hot no matter how long we ran it, but I'm not sure why. We just used the upstairs shower. We were happy that we could bring our dog. Overall, it was a nice stay for the few days we were there, and very affordable.

This house suited our needs and budget. House was priced correctly. We are avid snowboarders and skiers and its location was great and the wooded surroundings are very nice. We would rent this house again. There was a hiccup regarding hot tub and vacasa did refund us some funds for this as it wasn’t available. We hope it will be in the future. Thanks!

Booking was very easy
Cottage was clean.we didn’t use the hot tub so can’t comment/rate it
Would have enjoyed having wood available for the wood burning stove
It would be great to have had a fire pit outside

The house was dirty when we got there, feminine products in the garbage in the bathrooms, dirty glasses left upstairs, the mirrors in the bathroom had fingerprints and water marks still on them, most importantly the oven did not work, and no coffee maker that worked. Hot tub was dirty, plus there were not any tools to clean it. I talked to the property manager, she did drop off a carafe for the coffee maker, but it didn't fit. She also told me they were waiving the cleaning fee, but that hasn't happened yet, I contacted her since I've been home, have not heard back. Location was nice, but inside the house has chunks of dust and uncomfortable furniture. If you look closely enough, you can see the sagging mattress in the pictures.

Private, peaceful, setting with the running brook, the woods, lovely open living room.

The place provided the space we needed for all our family members, and we found all the amenities we needed. It was a great home away from home as we travelled to different sites in Vermont. Thanks

Beautiful views, stream running through the property, comfortable, spacious, clean, attic playroom/bedroom for kids, close to food markets with healthy foods. What’s not to love?

The cottage is in a perfect location for accessing surrounding areas in Vermont. The cottage itself is secluded, surrounded by trees and brooks - very picturesque! Especially with the fall foliage this week. But . . . I would not return to the cottage.
I’ve used VRBO many times and have had great success securing places that live up to the description on line. Good communication with the owners. I learned a valuable lesson this time - the cottage is run by a company - Vacassa and I will not do that again. The reply time was 2-3 days and the personal touches are definitely not there.
Major Concerns - Needs a lot of TLC and tiding up of amenities such as 1. New mattresses. 2. Provide bath towels that actually dry you with one towel. Hot tub towels would be nice. Tiny soap bars in a bag and little tubes of shampoo/conditioner (think motel 6) 3. Provide containers to store food in . 4. Knives that cut an apple. Dish towels were non existent. It just felt weird using a bathroom hand towel. No washcloth! 5. There was no where to take garbage out and no bags. 6. A beautiful wood burning stove but no wood or instructions. 7. Hot tub top needs replaced! No straps, all torn and to keep the one side afloat they’ve stuffed some kind of stuff in the lining that weighs a lot to keep it upright. My overall feeling is the cottage is being run by a cooperation but not well. And my last complaint. We live in Florida - Tampa Bay Area. Hurricane Ian headed directly for us - the airport was closed, which caused us 2 full nights. I contacted them immediately re: this natural misfortune early (6 a.m.) I did not hear back from them for two days and their response was that since we were arriving the following day - no amendments could be allowed. No compromise on the 2 days lost, no offer to extend the time - just sorry for the inconvenience. That’s the difference between a cooperation and the personal touch of an owner.

We loved out stay in mid-September! Beautiful view from the treetops to the babbling brook below. Well decorated and super cozy. Fun attic nook for kids and wonderful property to explore. We look forward to returning!

Great to be able to bring our dog with us, and the room arrangement allows everyone to have their own space. Lovely cabin tucked away in the woods, but close to everything! Perfect!

Enjoyed our third stay at the Birchhollow house in Warren Vermont. We would love to return however, we have some concerns about the property.
1. There is a strange odor in the house -a musty kind of mildewy smell. At first we thought it might be the trash, but it seems to be coming from somewhere else. The smell hits you when you enter the door and lingers on through the kitchen and all the way to the second floor. We removed one of the rugs that was very dirty at the front door. That seemed to cut down on some of the smell, but the smell was still in the house even after the rug was removed.
2. The trash situation seems to be a continuing problem. All three times we have stayed at the house we have struggled to find extra trash bags and to sort through the compost food scraps. We are totally fine with separating trash per Vermont’s laws, but if we are not provided the correct receptacles to do this when we stay for over a week, it is difficult to maintain that expectation.
3. On this stay there seemed to be problems with the drains in the bathrooms sinks and the bathroom shower. Everything is draining very slowly. I tried using some of the liquid Drano that was provided, and that still did not remove the slow drain. We think that maybe there is a plumbing problem that’s backing up into the septic system and that could be where that lingering smell is coming from.
4. The washing machine does not drain on the final rinse and spin cycle. every load that we washed stopped and sat in unrinsed dirty water. We would have to reset for a second rinse and cycle. It should also be noted that we did not overfill the washing machine even with small loads it seems to stop and not drain.
5. On a sidenote: What happened to the towels? They are so small. They do not wrap around an adult body.
With all this being said, we thoroughly enjoyed this property, the walks to the Bradley Brooke, hot tub, and the overall comfort of the home itself. We would love to return but thought you should be aware of some of these issues that we found this past week in Vermont. Thanks again. Hoping to return.

Weekend Base Camp
If you’re looking for the perfect Vermont backdrop then this is the house/cabin. But more a house. There’s 2 brooks running behind the house which supplies the perfect sound for sleeping when you pop open the window even a couple inches. The jacuzzi was great, we were staying for a race event on Ripton and we used the house as our base camp. 100% recommend if you want peace and relaxation in the Vermont woods. One tip, there’s not a grocery store close bye. Bring what you’ll need to save some trips.

Beautiful property!
Private setting. Nicely updated, older home. Functional kitchen. Dishwasher had food debris in it. Furniture could use updating. Most of it is uncomfortable. One of the couches had a lot of dog hair on it. Downstairs bedroom is in a converted outdoor porch- cold room!! Biggest complaint, and the reason we stayed 1 night and left 3 nights early is that the mattresses are not comfortable.

Very nice private cabin in the woods
Liked the home and furnishings. Very comfortable and inviting. Check in was easy, everything was clean. Overall we had an awesome time in the house and walking in the woods by the stream. Very close to skiing. Even grilled one night. I give a 4 star rating because we loved the home and the location.
Could not go 5 because We were a bit disappointed with a few things…. The waffle maker and small hand held blender did not work. No big frying pan so we used the plug in griddle, but tat was missing the grease collection cup. One very small sheet for baking. We were able to improvise our way through, but the kitchen accessories could use some love. Additionally, we had a need for the first-aid kit for a minor cut but could not find it after an exhaustive search. Last thing, and I may have been told but forgot, there was no firewood for the wood stove. Would have been nice for the first night to have enough for one fire.
I would definitely stay there again.

Great Location, Experience a little disappointing
On the way there we felt like we were just going up and up and up. We were excited when we pulled up to the cottage and walked up the cobble path to the door as we heard the sound of the brook that. runs alongside the property. The house is spacious and the big windows made for wonderful views of the wilderness.
We found almost everything we needed for our Thanksgiving's Day celebration but the cleanliness was truly not up to par lots of things still had residue from previous use on them and the griddle was put away without being cleaned. We love to cook so finding really dull knives and no blender in the place was difficult but we found ways around it.
While we do like pets we did not appreciate all the hair found throughout house especially on the linen. We tried washing them but the appliances are a little old so much that they are no longer functional. Even after two dryer cycles the hair on the sheets would not diminish. We didn't expect state of the art appliances but we would appreciate ones that serve their basic function Washer, Dryer and Dishwasher included. Lastly, the sink on the lower level was cracked thought not leaking it definitely needs to be repaired.
We really enjoyed the location and had we not been so turned off and disappointed by the cleanliness we would definitely have returned.

Great getaway spot!
This house was very remote which is exactly what we were looking for. The house overlooks the forest and is incredibly peaceful and quiet. I love all the little details and nooks. There are books and games everywhere so you won't run out of things to do. And the hot tub is perfect! We will probably stay here again

Beautiful
What a gorgeous home on a beautiful parcel. We loved exploring the river behind the home and the fall scenery. The home was very clean and smelled great too as a bonus. The few pieces of wood ready for the wood stove was a nice touch. We enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to returning with more family and friends.

Birch Hollow
We absolutely loved our time at Birch Hollow. The cottage is roomy and light. Tucked inside the cozy living room, you can connect with the changing colors of the trees and the falling leaves just outside the large picture windows.

Our party of 4 adults and 4 teens had an awesome Columbus Day Weekend at Birch Hollow. It is kind of a classic Vermont home with an artsy vibe. It has a great hot tub which we all enjoyed after hiking. The house is set on a hill overlooking a stream/brook and forest area that the kids and dog especially loved to explore. Very close to the mountain!
The mattresses on most of the beds have seen better days, otherwise no complaints. We'd go back!

We loved this house! The main living space is full of interesting art / antiques, and the view into the trees and down to the creek from the huge windows can't be beat. Our toddler had so much fun playing outside here, exploring the creek and waterfalls and searching for salamanders. It was really nice not having a TV in the main living area (though there are a couple upstairs in more kid-friendly spaces.)
Only heads up we'd really give is that there are no curtains/blinds/shades on any windows, so if you want to sleep past dawn, maybe keep that in mind. There also weren't rods or hooks for rigging something up temporarily. Separately - one hot tub lover on the trip couldn't find chlorine for the tub. It didn't seem super clean.
All the above said - we're already talking about when we can come back and with whom, to fill up all those great rooms.

The home was very cool. However there was no AC which was not a problem except windows wouldn’t open (broken/missing handles) or the screens were missing from those that did. There was no screen door on front or back doors so we did not get much air flow. The cobwebs were all over outside -the lights on the balcony didn’t work. The living room/dining room furniture was not comfortable and past it’s prime. The bedroom vanity was broken and the chair used as a nightstand was all gross from watermarks. No lamps in that bedroom either. The. hot tub was dirty… this home could use some maintenance it had a cracked glass window and dead bugs all over all of the windows and the bath window had film you could not see through, it ruined the view. I felt like I was in a hotel as it had those white scratchy small towels, tiny soaps, only so many detergent packets. Most homes I’ve rented in the past came with a list of things you needed to know, notes for heaters or AC, if bears are near property and what to do. Usually a list of good places to eat and shop nearby and usually a desert from a local place. This did not have that, it was clearly run by a company and not the Owners/users of the home as it did when home away operated this company It is a lovely area. We did have a great time. A bear even showed up 15 feet from the front door on our last night- scared the hell out of our dog!Great house, could have been much better had it had some TLC. Not liking this house rental company - with all the additional fees I expected much more-

Great house in a peaceful forest
We have truly enjoyed our stay at the Birch Hollow Cottage. The open space area is perfect for a larger group to eat, play games or just hang out… If it gets cooler, you can start a fire in the wood stove :) We were able to go hiking right around the house and go down by the river. Warren Falls are few mnts. away - great spot to dive and swim or just sun bathe on a rock while listening to the sound of a river…. We also drove to Lake Champlain (45mnts) beautiful drive. (Winter time must be also great there as the Sugarbush Resort is few mnts away…).
We highly recommend this peaceful and relaxing house!
