Freshly picked fruits, yoghurt and delicious home baked goodies served with home made preserves . Fresh brewed coffee or tea . Great start to the day.
We stayed in the delightful one bedroom cottage . It was impeccably clean and had everything needed to make you feel at home . V comfortable bed .
Rachel is absolutely lovely ( so is Mia her little dog!) v easy friendly manner , a fab hostess and an awesome cook. We thoroughly enjoyed our home made dinner with wine pairing . It was totally delicious . All fresh produce and super quality ingredients .
The gardens are totally gorgeous with various places to sit and enjoy a glass of the local wine.
Rachel also hosts a welcome drink and home baked snacks early evening each day for all the guests which is a lovely way to meet new people .

Rachel was amazing, the place was gorgeous. Amazing garden, hospitality - was just perfect and wonderful. Highly highly recommend to anyone travelling with a small group of friends, or with adult family. Amazing spot to explore vineyards from. :)

Breakfast was amazing. Mia is the cutest! Rachel's hospitality is truly outstanding.
There could have been a slightly easier method of communication but probably Booking.com's fault

having a room in the sane house as the owner - awkward and unexpected

Very good location for exploring Martinborough area. Lovely friendly experience with superb gourmet food - both breakfast and dinner. Very like being a welcome guest in somebody's home. The host, Rachel, very engaging and interesting - and a great source of information about the local food and wine scene. Lovely garden that also produced fresh organic ingredients for meals.
Bed a little soft, which seems to be a New Zealand thing as occurred everywhere we stayed.

Nothing to dislike

A very warm welcome. Rachel was the consummate hostess. Wish we had stayed longer than one night as the Martinborough Fair was being held. First Saturday of February and March annually.
Not a thing.

Everything at Prodigal Daughter was amazing. Rachel was very attentive to us during our stay, even booking us a very early taxi back to the train station. We also dined in one night with other guests which was a lovely experience. The food was excellent and I enjoyed the opportunity to interact with the other guests. The proximity to town was perfect - a short 5-7 minute walk to the center of town and many wineries. Netflix in our room was an added bonus!
We also loved Mia!! Thanks Rachel for an amazing stay.

We met some nice people.
This is so over priced, it's ridiculous. It is actually an odd, dirty, run down B&B. It's worth about $130 a night. The kitchen doesn't have an inch thats not covered with something and it's dirty! The garden is a tip with crap piled everywhere. Rachel tries but I found her really odd, forced, not genuine. The onsuite is literally a cupboard with a noisy fan, inappropriate shower head. The bed was terrible, old and ready for the tip. I have stayed in multiple different places in Martinborough - this was hands down the worst!!

Comfortable, clean and accessible.

Good breakfast. Rachel is lovely to spend time with. Very comfortable room, decorated with a lot of thought and attention to detail, I also liked coming home with a box of feijoa's.
Lack of other guest dining in made that aspect of my stay at the Gourmet Lodge not what I had hoped for (this was just the way it played out, and beyond Rachel's control). But I really appreciated Rachel coming up with a good plan B - dinner out together - and I also appreciated her generosity in shouting me that. The room pricing felt a little bit at the top end for what was on offer (normally would have expected some extra's beyond a well-equipped ensuite room to be on offer - like a spa pool or sauna to be part of the deal at that price). However on leaving, I felt glad I had stayed there, and that I would do so again next time I need some Wairarapa time out.

Super friendly hostess. Made us feel welcome from the minute we got there.
The lodge is a realy pretty house and perfectly located only a short walk to Martinborough center.

Rachel is a happy and friendly host. Her home is quiet, welcoming and in a good location.

This was the only accommodation in Martinborough available for the night we wanted to stay and for that I am very grateful. Good location in the main township. Walking distance to the Square
Very expensive for what it is. The accommodation was very "tired". Average cleanliness. No wifi available in the room, nor TV (not that we needed one). It is not a very good option for those merely wanting a bed for the night as we did. The unit was free-standing but the access was still through the main house which made us feel a little uncomfortable coming and going. The lodge markets itself as a gourmet dinner B&B and I am sure the experience is much better if you are wanting the company, conversation, drinks, nibbles and dinner on offer but for us it was very poor value. Breakfast was light - nice, but I had expected a cooked one for the money.

Stay was lovely, but feel for the price paid the bathroom was tiny. When bending down to access the sink, I found myself bumping into the vanity mirror. The sink was far too small, about the size of a shoe box. The shower had an old school turn dial and shower head. Whilst the shower head was lovely, it was oversized and not functional for the tiny shower. Room was lovely though again on the small side. Rachel was awesome, despite tiny room and bathroom made to feel very welcome indeed!
