Gorgeous location and extremely cool facility with tons of history behind it. The view from our balcony — coastline and ocean, mountains on the side — was to die for. Being situated in the medieval village, which was fun to explore, was a bonus. Staff: Incredibly friendly and helpful. Honestly, everything was just about perfect.
Not a complaint, but there are better and worse ways to solve the access from town issue. Website is clear about three parking lots where taxi or Uber can drop you. As rookies we chose the one that required quite a hike up the hill with luggage. Call ahead and they can tell you the better options, and even pick you up at the drop point.

Everything was amazing bout this hotel. The service was exceptional. We had the most gorgeous room with a large bathroom and beautiful views. The hotel itself is stunning.
Nothing - it was fabulous

the property sits high above Nice. The views are really great and you can walk right out the door and have full access to the charming medieval town.

Lovely hotel with very friendly/helpful staff (especially Reginald and Fiona!) The on-site restaurant is delicious too! I would stay again.
The location is great if you want to be off the beaten path, however if you want to be closer to the action it’s a little out of the way. It’s a preference though not a bad thing!

Lovely, unique hotel with fantastic views to the sea. Room was a good size as was the bathroom and it was all very comfortable.
The restaurant was closed on a Monday night. The restaurant terrace is one of the main attractions of the hotel so it was very disappointing that it was closed. Breakfast was only OK.

Very friendly staff. High services. The place is a lovely place for vacation. We like this hotel, with the delicious breakfast. Also the dinner at the Restaurant with a fantastic view. The shuttle works very good.
Great experience.
The bed was too soft for us. This is a personal matter.

Quality of staff, location.
Little choice of courses on the restaurant’s menu.

The staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. They even dropped me to the station each morning and I could call them to meet me off the train after work. Bed was very comfortable, room quiet and large.
The only down side was not having access to internet from my room, so my data roaming charges are significant. I was in a house in the village and the wifi did not reach. It would not have been an issue if on holiday and just a daily check in but with alot of prep to do for meetings not so good. Then again this is not the normal location for a business traveller. I would have no hesitancy coming back despite the lack of internet in the room as the hotel more than made up for that issue.

Location is very special - on top of an old hill town/fortress, but still reasonably easy to reach on foot or by taxi. The town is very charming. Do read the arrival instructions which they send you prior to your stay - everything is very well explained there. The rooms are cute, have an antique feel to them. If you luck out - you may get a room with a view (some rooms have a view to the narrow street outside). The staff are all very nice and welcoming, very helpful (and speak good English). They provide recommendations and advice / directions. The whole hotel has an ancient castle feel to it, with vaulted ceilings and stone artwork from 1920ies. The restaurant is top quality and boasts an amazing view towards the coast. The breakfast was expensive but had good quality food.
The “luxury” part is kind of missing. Everything is fine but hardly astonishing.

A perfect hidden gem of the French Riviera. The village had all the charm of the other popular hill top villages but just not the crowds of people. It exceeded all expectations and is a great location to explore the surrounding areas. The hotel is beautiful, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We were upgraded to a junior suite and it was the best surprise, the room was fantastic, very spacious and beautiful views and terrace. We also highly recommend the restaurant, the food was delicious and the restaurant itself was very atmospheric, the ornate roof pulls back to allow for Alfresco dining, you have views all the way to the sea, it was very romantic. We would absolutely return.
There is nothing to fault, this hotel is a hidden gem!!

the village is amazing, up on a hill and parking is 10-15 min walk to the hotel but once you 're up there amazing views and little cobble stone paths to explore, lovely castle etc
did'n like the bed, very soft. Also, our room had a door the was out of use but behind it they parked the motorcycles and there was fumes we can feel. pls do something about that door and change mattress

Love the views and location in the medieval town. The staff was amazing and were quick to respond to any need. Five star service was received!
Minor things like floor tiles that needed to be secured but beds and room were comfortable.

The room had direct access from the street, was not located in the main building. There was some street noise as this is an old house and the door/windows are not well insulated.

The website made it look good.
We checked out a night early from this “luxury hotel” because it was poor in cleanliness, service, furnishing, and food. The website misled us about what the hotel was really like.
After staying here, we declined to stay at the second “Small Luxury Hotel” we booked for our trip. It cost us, but we had lost trust in the “SLH Collection” after visiting this hotel.
We wrote ahead to Château Le Cagnard hotel about parking. We were told it was simple and they shared a map with us for car parks. When we arrived, it took 90 minutes to find a spot. We ended up parking on the road in Nice - one car park they recommended had a fresh smashed-in car window, one car park didn’t take SUVs (although we’d advised them in advance), the other couple were full. It was a stressful arrival.
Arriving at the hotel, we weren’t offered any refreshment (we arrived in 40-degree heat, France’s 2022 “heat apocalypse”). Instead, we were rushed around a tour of the breakfast room and bar. When we got to our room, I filled a glass with water: I had to spit it out - the glass was not clean - it still had washing detergent on it.
In the room, the curtains had rips and stains, the upholstery on the chairs was worn and had come away in places, the floor had stains, there was someone else’s hair by the bathroom sink. The bed didn’t have a proper mattress - instead there was a topper on the bed base.
The quality of customer service was poor for a luxury hotel: dismissive, uncaring, “can’t be bothered”.
The breakfast was simply not good enough for a luxury hotel or the amount charged per night. We tried some breakfast but decided to go elsewhere.
As we checked out, the manager played “rock, paper, scissors” with a junior staff member to see who “had to take us in the shuttle to our car”. He laughed with delight when he won the game and didn’t have to assist us. It was highly unprofessional. He carried our bags to the shuttle car, smashing them against the walls on the way!
