Great breakfast, fantastic view from breakfast room. Amanda is a lovely host.
Beds are too short for tall people. They're about 180cm so anyone taller than that will have to accept your feet stick out.

We had a lovely stay. The room was great and Amanda was a lovely host who was extremely helpful in offering activities to do during our stay and was a delightful host. The food was excellent and we had a lovely stay and would definitely return.

Spacious, clean, luxurious. Owners have really created a warm friendly place to stay close to Kirkwall town centre. Breakfast great. Little extras like cafetière of real coffee, quirky mugs, puffins abound. Loved it.

We stayed for two nights at this lovely property and on our first night Amanda made arrangements with us to gain access to the house even though we didn’t arrive until midnight owing to ferry timetables. This was much appreciated. Amanda is very friendly, helpful and chatty. Breakfasts were excellent and served in a big bright room with superb views towards the sea. Would stay here again.

The host was very communicative beforehand and gave us a really warm welcome on arrival. Very Covid safe. Breakfast was superb and the icing on the cake was the spectacular views, from the breakfast room, across Orkney.

Fantastic stay. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with hot powerful showers. The breakfasts were delicious with lots of choice and in a room overlooking the sea and islands. Amanda and George are very welcoming and go that extra bit to ensure your stay is great. The position of Hildeval is perfect, On a quiet road but with easy access to centre of town for shops and restaurants.

Perfect location, friendly staff and amazing breakfast

Amanda is a very friendly host, and provided a wonderful base for our trip to Orkney. You can tell she was a hotel general manager for years before running Hildeval, her (and George's) own place. Lots of little touches, although Amanda was frustrated she couldn't do more. There was an obvious pleasure in looking after her guests. And breakfasts were outstanding - delicious, plentiful and a great choice, despite strict Covid restrictions. Our stay was excellent and we felt safe at all times.
Nothing about Hildeval - but beware that Easthill is a steep climb out of Kirkwall's main area! Location is worth it though.

We had a wonderful stay at the Hildeval. On arrival we met Amanda who was extremely friendly and provided all check-in data. Car park at the front door and our room was excellent with all of our requirements fully achieved. The upstairs lounge where breakfast is served has a fabulous view of Kirkwall and the choice of breakfast offerings is simply fantastic. George is a superb chef and the quality of the food is excellent. We had a super time at Hildeval from Amanda, George & Maisie and we will definitely return on our next visit to Orkney. Overall a wonderful stay, good location, good value and very friendly.

Food, staff, location, and cleanliness
The owners were very friendly. The dining room has a massive picture window with a fabulous view of the town, the sea, and Islands beyond. Breakfast was amazing and cooked to perfection. Will definately be staying again

Friendly staff; lot of coffee for breakfast; eggs & salmon for breakfast is worth trying.
Location is a bit further from the city centre (can be advantage if you prefer absolute silence in the night). Wifi unstable.
