Beautiful old house. Bedroom was exceptional, clean and comfortable. Owner so friendly and helpful. Made us feel very welcome.

Excellent breakfast and good location close to town

Parking was on the street as it would have been difficult to get our car on to the parking area at the front of the property due to the narrowness of the access.

What a fantastic welcoming and stay. Both Pablo and John made us feel so at ease and relaxed in their beautiful home. On arrival we were invited to join them for a glass of wine with a couple of their friends and family in an exquisite garden full of flower. We travel on a regular basis often using hotels and B&Bs throughout the year, but this must be one of the most delightful places we have ever stayed in. The finishing touches, attention to detail and divine breakfast, served to us in their garden on our request, made our stay so special and one to remember.

The Lions never disappoints us and we have returned several times. Breakfast is freshly prepared to order and particular note should be made of the delicious fresh fruit salad!

The Lions is easy to find and there was no problem with parking. The hosts are very friendly and attentive and we were made very welcome. This lovely 200 year old house has been superbly and sympathetically renovated and the garden is beautiful. Our rooms were very well equipped and comfortable - just what we needed after a gruelling 4 and 1/2 hour drive. There were plenty of breakfast options. Our breakfasts were generous, beautifully and well prepared, and served with a personal touch that made us feel special.

There is really nothing very negative to say. There are no ground floor rooms but we had our 92 year old mum with us and she managed the stairs easily. We had to go out for our evening meal and apart from one local pub (where the food was good, actually) there was nowhere else easily walkable for mum. However, there are lots of venues in and around Newark town centre only a short journey away. So if you are able or mobile the location of the Lions is not really a problem.

I have travelled with my young daughter to various hotels in the Grantham/Newark area. We were both made to feel very welcome during our stay. These guys have a house full of beautiful antiques and a garden that anyone would envy! The breakfast was also tremendous. Keep up the good work, we'll be back again!

We had a room at the front which had some traffic noise. Would ask for a garden room next time. But this wasn’t something that could be helped by the hosts.

A beautiful house, in a great location just outside the town centre. The room was very spacious and comfortable with a huge bathroom. There is a garden to sit in when the weather permits, and a lounge where you can, well, lounge.

The breakfast was excellent. It set us up for the day. The hosts, John and Pablo were very friendly and welcoming.

A beautiful Georgian property within walking distance of Newark town centre. The property was spotlessly clean. As the weather was good we were able to sit in the garden in the early evening with a gin and tonic. Pablo was an exceptionally good host who did his utmost to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

There really was nothing to dislike about the property.

the friendliness of our hosts, they coudn't have been more helpful. from carrying our luggage up to the room to welcoming us into their garden with a free drink and polite chat . They went out their way to make our stay enjoyable.

the hosts were just so welcoming and made us feel very special even though we were there just 1 night. The room/bathroom was super clean, the bed linen lovely and crisp and the mattress very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent which we had in their delightful garden. We would 100% go back.

The only thing I could say was shame the water was not hot enough to enjoy the big bath. But saying that in no way changes how excellent the facilitates were.
