We loved this trip. For the price you cannot ask for any better. Great check in, safety briefing, clean boat, black and grey water tanks, generator, inverter for hubby's cpap, comfy enough bed, warm shower, great BBQ to cook our lamb roast on and location FANTASTIC. Easy to operate, owners great to deal with and cannot wait to book again!
The weekend ended too soon! Our friends had the Explorer which had comfier cruise seats and front deck which was great whilst cruising for them. Sitting out back whilst cruising was too noisy.

Moama Houseboats On The Murray
This couples trip away has been a long time coming! So when looking for a couples holiday on Booking.com, we were so surprised and pleased to see the “Houseboat for two” advertised as an option!
Being on a small houseboat is not a “luxurious” accommodation option, but having the freedom to travel anywhere you like on the Murray definitely is!
The houseboat for two had everything we needed for our 4 night stay away… for anyone going for longer than two nights - the boat could definitely do with more toilet paper, large garbage bags and a couple more towels though. We were so very happy to find out that the bed on the boat was very comfortable, just like “home” ;-)
On our previous Lake Eildon houseboat trip (overpriced !) we had to supply all bedding and linen, whereas the house boat for two on the Murray had it all.
We did prepare ahead though with packing our own linen which turned out to be a good idea because over the period of a 5 day, 4 night trip in July where the Murray river was flooded and the banks were muddy it came in handy to have “spares”.
The bathroom is a very simple “wet room” with a portable toilet and mini shower. One inconvenience was getting wet feet / socks when using the toilet during the night, so unless you thoroughly dry the floor after every use of the shower, you chance the possibility of transferring the water and dirt from your feet onto the floor, back into bed, not to mention having to change your socks umpteen times if not wearing shoes! (hence the need for additional towels, or use a mop!)
There is some under bed storage which was helpful, we brought a fair bit of stuff for our long trip as we left home two nights before our houseboat booking, we stayed at motels along the way and didn’t want to forget anything. There’s plenty of cupboard space if you move things around. Making a fire on the bank at night (in winter) and fishing off the bank is amazing!.
Nothing not to like - but fish were scarce due to flooding but still loved the getaway more than any other holiday we could’ve picked!!!
;-)

We loved being able to cruise up and down the Murray at our own leisure. The River Cruiser was an ideal vessel for two. Had everything we needed as was very cosy and comfortable. Chris was a great help and showed through and how to drive the boat. Highly recommend and would love to do it again
Not realising that when you first go ashore, it can get boggy. I would bring gumboots or go barefoot.

It was a great experience, and easy houseboat to maneuver once we got the hang of it and we were confident with what we were going. It was relaxing to sail up and down the Murray River. The host was always available for assistance, casual and friendly

Great little boat, with everything you need for two people. Bed was very comfortable and the boat was easy to drive/park.
Bathroom was obviously very basic just toilet and shower head but thats what you expect being out on a boat. Still very clean

We hired a River Explorer for three nights. These are the cheapest self-contained houseboat offered by Moana on the Murray Holiday Park Resort. The houseboat was easy to drive and proved compact but functional.
It was well stocked with with cooking utensils, linen and plenty of thoughtful extra like torches and beach towels. It was great to have hot water, a hot shower and a comfortable bed every day. The BBQ on the front deck also made it easy to prepare meals whoever we didn’t want use the kitchenette cooktop.
The resort provided a detailed instruction folder that also included detailed river maps. We found the boat easy to drive. Docking each night was a breeze. Just drive up onto the banks of a scenic stretch of river and tie up to tree. It couldn’t be easier. The resort staff were always friendly and helpful. They were also very accommodating and always reasonable with requests and tactical support.
We took the resort’s advice and spent our first night about 1km down the river on the edge of the speed controlled (no wake) zone just round the bend from the new river crossing bridge. This let us to get familiar with the boat before venturing upstream on our second day close to Morning Glory Resort. We went this far upstream to get away from the jet skis and water skiing who dominate the lower reaches (mainly downstream from the Goulburn River junction.
As a first time experience on the Murray River this houseboat was a cost effective and easy to master option. Our only disappointment was the the boat was starting to show a few signs of wear and tear. While it was always functional it wasn’t always glamorous.

Great way to discover the Murray River. As the houseboat is small you are able to stay more remotely. Peaceful and beautiful. Great adventure, camp fires on the river bank.
A few technical issues along the way but Damien was very helpful and quick to assist.
