Maravilloso la verdad es que nos vamos con un gran recuerdo de Costa Rica, Giovanni y Luis unos excelentes anfitriones el lugar sencillamente maravilloso, sin lugar a dudas es la mejor recepción que hemos tenido. Lo recomiendo a 100%

The hosts (owners) were so helpful, kind, and available for us. We were able to have dinner late in the evening even though the kitchen was already closing. The place itself is lovely, in the middle of nature, yet cozy and comfortable. We had breakfast every morning by the pool and hearing the birds sing. The room was clean and comfortable. Highly recommended!

Not much to dislike! The location is a bit remote but if you have a car it’s easy to find and near all the volcano areas.

Good location for bird watching and reaching the Pocosol Biological Station. Friendly staff and good breakfast and nice pool area.

Excellent customer service with a beautiful view of nature.

I didn’t like that there was no mini fridge in the room to keep drinks. There was a communal fridge by the pool, but that’s less convenient.

Giovanni and Luis were so kind and welcoming to us. San Rafael Ecolodge is clearly a labor of love, and they put care into every decision they’ve made, from the lush gardens to the thoughtfully appointed decks and verandas. you can always find a peaceful spot. They also make beautiful Costa Rican meals- breakfast and lunch is on the patio and you can hear the cacophony of creatures at dawn and dusk. just during dinner my son and I saw many birds including hummingbirds visiting the potted flowers next to us, a tiny gecko, and bats. when we had an early tour and I was worried about getting a coffee (my only vice! without it I get a migraine), Luis got up at 5:30 and made me a thermos of hot coffee!! I was so surprised and grateful. it was a lovely stay that we will always remember.

Giovani and his team are so welcoming, kind and accommodating. The place is clean and in a tranquil environment.

If you stay here, it's recommended that you have a car. It may seem obvious, but it wasn't for me. 😂 I was able to take a bus into town and ubers home, but the cost adds up quickly.

My husband, son, and I stayed at the San Raphael Ecolodge several nights during our winter holiday. From multiple perspectives, our experience was excellent and enjoyable. The hosts - Giovanni and Luis - were both efficient and knowledgeable in helping us choose and organize local daytrips to areas of interest; they also reliably arranged transportation, since we chose not to rent a vehicle during our stay. In the mornings before our excursions and in the evenings after our return, they fed us graciously from their varied and delicious menu. The setting & arrangement of the ecolodge made for a tropical paradise, with comfortable accommodations situated in a beautiful and tranquil forest, a stream, and a swimming pool integrated into the outdoor lounge area.
