To be honest we had low expectations because we thought it was weird we had to send 3 different persons about our arrival time (dinner & breakfast time)....While we drove there we still had low expectations because it's a bit deserted, but once we got there it was one big pleasant surprise. The room was a bit crowded for us (5 people in a small room), but the hospitality and the pleasant courtyard (with some pet cats) made us feel at home quite soon. We found out why we had to send 3 different people : it's a hotel/hostel where they work with all local products and you get a huge community feeling. Person 1 was the person of the hotel/hostel to inform our arrival. Person 2 was a local chef who cooks for you in the 'shed' in the garden (SUPER COSY and BEST FOOD we had at our entire trip in Argentina). Thanks for that Nico!! (you have to pay the food directly to Nico, that's why you have to send him separately)and person 3 was the person who arranged the breakfast. Our diner was with local meat and local wine.
We traveled for a month and almost every night we slept somewhere else and we all agreed that Chakana Hospedaje Rural was the cosiest stay with the best food during our entire trip.

This property has a very chill, relaxed, bohemian vibe. There are lots of artistic touches throughout the property, such as crochet cushion covers, cactus wood side lamps, lots of hand painted murals. Staff very relaxed and chill with Jason speaking decent English and recommending local places of interest. Communication through WhatsApp was efficient. Lots of covered parking. Many little chill out seating areas around the property.
Weren't told until checking in that they only accept cash for payment. We messaged them the day before, as requested, that we would like to have dinner at the hospedaje, however the chef decided he was not making dinner that night with no explanation. Fortunately Jason at reception recommended a great restaurant, but meant driving 20 minutes back into town. Breakfast was meager, just toast and lemon cake with coffee, no fruit meats or cheeses. From the description, I had high expectations of a family run agro-tourism property with locally made food. Rather, the property had the feel of a backpacker hostel.

The very friendly staff, the optional dinners made from scratch, the comfortable bed, the location relative to Talampaya National Park, the covered and shaded parking, the many cats, the colorful decor
The limited amount of hot water for a shower, the dirt road from Villa Unión to Banda Florida (where the hotel is located), the challenging door lock, the presence of small insects in the room

I loved the rustic, natural atmosphere, which may not be for everyone. The staff were very, very helpful and friendly. Natalia kindly went out and bought us some beer and Nico cooked a delicious dinner for us. The home made wine was delicious too.
We were not prepared to do the very shallow river crossings in our rental car. It was not a problem, just a surprise.
