The best swimming pool we had during our vacation! Dinner was excellent. The staff was very helpful.

We appreciated that the Countryside replied very promptly to our requests with regards the safari tour, that they arranged for us, and we were very happy with the guide/driver, also information about the elephant transit place that is close by. They provided fruit and crackers as it was an early start and on our return we enjoyed a hearty breakfast. It was lovely to have a pool to relax in later and we enjoyed watching the bird life also enjoying a little dip late afternoon. The Sri Lankan dinner we had was tasty. The staff were very friendly & helpful, especially Dushan who also arranged a car to our next destination. Good value & ideal if visiting Udawalawe National Park.

Just a little more attention to detail for cleaning, also doors that don't close & lock easily (probably due to the humidity).

We loved our stay! The Countryside Udawalawe is a lovely hotel with villas surrounding a pool and garden, calm and relaxing atmosphere. The rooms were very nice - comfortable bed, good A/C and nice modern bathrooms. The management is amazing & organized - we had their driver bring us from Ella to Udawalawe, and then again from Udawalawe to Dikwella. The driver was great and the car very clean and comfortable. He was right on time and pointed out sites for us along the way. They also booked a private Jeep for a safari through Udawalawe Park, and they were very accommodating of our last minute change in plans. The safari driver/guide was excellent and made sure we saw lots of animals. The managers were always there when we came back to the hotel to make sure everything was going well, and we had a nice Sri Lankan dinner and breakfast there as well. Perfect location - very close to the Park and the Elephant Transit Home.

Neat bungalows, wonderfully refreshing pool, friendly staff, clean facility, easily arranged and reasonably priced private safari tour (26$). Perfect value for money.

Nice place to stay a night to go on a safari in the national park. The room looked nice, had a small sitting area, a desk, and a water kettle. The AC worked. The bathroom was clean, hot water, great shower pressure. The Sri Lankan breakfast was delicious, with hoppers, fried egg, coconut sambal, and fresh fruit. The elephant transit home is a 10 minute walk away. The hotel can arrange the safari for you.

Good location. Quiet surroundings. Lovely pool. Food provided was home made. Friendly staff.

Water supply extremely poor in bathroom. Taps were also leaking - need maintenance. Washing machine should be mentioned as available as paid service. No dryer in room. Meals should be served with net cover or something else to protect from flies - they are in abundance due to forest.

Tranquil, just a few lodges, so not overrun with tourists like us! Beautiful tropical garden setting. Lovely pool, extremely helpful and pleasant staff, clean and tidy. Breakfast particularly good. The safari tour and driver arranged for us was outstanding and excellent value for money.

Everything was spotless, came on Friday to work for the afternoon and took the Safari at 5am the next day, the internet was great and they have a generator on site so power cuts were not an issue. Had dinner at the hotel which was delicious, special shout out has to go to Dushan Sandaruwan who was an absolute gentleman and made a great stay an amazing one! Will definitely be coming back if I ever come back to Udawalawe!

Nothing, everything was better than expected.

Lovely modern clean property, quality bedding and furnishings. Nice bathroom with plenty of hot water , A/C works great. Pool area is lovely and hotel is a few minutes walk from elephant transit home. Staff are super helpful and they can arrange a safari with a brilliant driver. Huge breakfast included in room price. This place is such good value

Very nice rooms, good food, friendly people.

The swimmingpool is unfortunately not clear, lots of insects, you can not see the floor, so we decided not to swim. That was a pity, because we booked it because of the availability of the pool. We understand it will be difficult to clean the pool if not many guests are coming.
