Exceptionally disappointed with the twin room given the many positive reviews and high scores I read on booking.com (shabby and dated with stains/dirt in the bathroom), which was then massively exacerbated further by intimidating behaviour by the person I believe to be the owner when we were leaving to find somewhere else to stay. This individual was knocking on the car and standing in front of it as I was trying to pull away onto the very busy main road and then started using his phone to either film or take photos of us and the car, which caused a tremendous amount of stress and upset on top of the already disappointment in the room and pressure to very quickly find somewhere else to stay. A very stressful and upsetting experience overall.

We were able to park outside (this is day and time dependant so check the signs). We were greeted by a very friendly lady who showed us to our room. Room was comfortable, and had little fridge, tea and coffee facilities and a little en suite toilet and shower, and the curtains blocked any remaining light well. Beds were comfortable as well. Breakfast wasn't included but when my friend said she didn't want anything cooked the host Kevin didn't charge her for hers anyway, he was super friendly and welcoming. We were there for one night for a reunion at the university and had such a nice time we parted saying we could come back, and if we do we'll look to book at Clayhanger again.
Only thing I'd say about the room, booking a twin room I always imagine the beds will be a little bit separate, rather than pushed together but it's really a minor point, we aren't a couple but have shared rooms before so wasn't a problem, but some friends might prefer a bit of distance.

Very clean and homely, the owner was so kind and accommodating. We had everything we needed for the night - the cotton pads provided to take makeup off with were a cute touch!

The staff were absolutely amazing, i called asking if it was poss to chwck in early and Kevin was very kind and accomodating. I got called into work th day of check out and asked if it was possible to keep my luggage til i came back and again he was very kind and helpful. Only a call away if you need anything. I wil definitely come here again when stopping over in Newcastle.

As far as I know, breakfast was not available. (I went to the Wetherspoons just five minutes down the road!)
The temperature of the shower was very hot. When you exit the guesthouse you are straight onto a very busy road.

I stayed for 2 nights to be close to a training clinic I have to attend as part of my degree.
The room was clean and cosy, I had my own en suite bathroom, a fridge, a good quality bed and pillows, and good WiFi - enough to stream movies and also work on my laptop at the same time!
I called a head to ask for a taxi reliable company and was given Roseville taxis - who were also great!
Over the next 4 years I will be attending the training clinic many times, and would not hesitate to stay at Clayhanger House again.

Location was good, it is on the main road towards Newcastle. The lady who welcomed me was accommodating, showed me around and gave me a brief tour when I arrived. My room was a ensuite twin bed room, with window facing the main road. Cleaniness was well kept, the toilet was of a modern design and felt comfortable. Water pressure was strong. The room comes with a small fridge which was very convenient. Bed and duvet was nice and warm, comfortable and I had a good rest. Overall a wonderful experience and I would definitely consider staying here again.
The window was facing the main road, directly opposite the building was a children centre, so there was some noise in the morning. Also by the many cars passing by, but noise within acceptable range.

The owners were lovely. They had made sure every little detail was took care of. The hotel was in the perfect place for us as it was only a 10/15 minute drive to the monkey forest. There are a couple of pubs in the surrounding area that are in walking distance too

Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful with any issues and really helped make the trip lovely. Breakfast was very accomodating all the different needs of each person and the morning coffee was great
I cannot think of anything to complain about the trip. Even when there was a slight issue with our bathroom door, the response was very quick, professional and handled the issue as quickly as possible.

The room was very clean, clean towels on the bed, mattress was amazing, and had a great night's sleep!
Light was coming in through underneath the door during the night. Internet connection was intermittent.

Location was good and the staff were friendly
When we booked, we paid for breakfast which included a full English breakfast, but the owner told us only scrambled eggs were available. Disappointed, as if we had known this, we would have not paid for what was a poor breakfast. I cannot see any reason why we were not offered what we paid for.
