beautiful older but grand hotel in lovely surroundings… dining room and food excellent… bar facilities and service outstanding

The front desk staff were exceptional. I counted at least 4 languages spoken with ease. The one young blonde front desk lady was very good at answering questions and explaining the advantages of the region. Every staff member encountered were polite with strong customer service skills - from front desk to dining room to housekeeping to maintenance. The Maître d’ was very accommodating to guests yet the dining room was run with precision. The room had an outstanding view of the lake and the mountains. What a pleasure it was to wake up to that every morning. The breakfast was varied from hot to cold fare and every guest I saw left with smiles on their faces. The test of any hotel is if guests would want to return. This guest definitely would!!

The hotel is very lovely, all details are well thought through. The location was very good for us too, very close to the boats, and we also enjoyed a 15 minutes walk to the center of the Stresa along the lake too. Beautiful. I liked the breakfast area, beautiful garden, pool, bar area on the balcony, excellent views from the roof, very friendly and attentive staff. I would say it is a good find, we enjoyed staying in the hotel Royal very much! Thank you!

Breakfast included was lovely. Plenty on offer and good quality. Location is perfect for visiting the Borromean Islands, and a 20 min walk from the main town, where there are plenty of great shops and eateries. View from our room was amazing, we had a balcony over looking the lake

Tea making facilities in the room would have been nice, but this seems to be something they don't do in Europe??

Very nice place. Old style but very clasic. Central location near by the beach promenade and city centre. Nice staff at the hotel.

We stayed 5 nights at Hotel Royal. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The staff couldn’t be nicer. We ate dinner there 4 nights. The food was great and a very good value. Breakfast was included and was also delicious. The wait staff are dressed in suits bow ties. We felt like we stepped back in time.

It was right next to the boat dock. It also had incredible views.

It was a 15 minute walk to the city center, which is only a problem if you have issues walking.

A magical hotel. Little. Personal attention. Great location, half a minute walk from the lake and the cruise to the islands. The hotel is very beautiful with stunning seating areas.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Independent, family run hotel. Close to rail station, 10 min walk into town alongside the lake.

The road from the station needs a footpath!

The garden filled with roses in bloom made for beautiful surroundings - nice hotel with various comfortable seating areas to choose from ... breakfast on the garden terrace was a lovely start to the day.

Location was perfect, with great views of the lake. Close to the Hop On Hop Off ferry. Great walk, along the promenade, into the town centre.

Very minor, but the shower was not great, and the bed was hard. Bar manager was a bit abrupt, bordering on rude. We named him 'Basil' (Fawlty Towers)... Also, the pool was under renovation, but there was no communication to let us know this.

Good location with free parking. Very friendly reception staff and we did get a free room upgrade which was a nice surprise :-)

The walls in the bedrooms were very thin indeed - in our room (don’t know if all rooms were like this) we could here the water pipes all through the night which were very loud. Anytime someone in a nearby room flushed their toilet we heard it and then there was dripping in the pipe afterwards. We also could hear people snoring and talking in the room next door :-( The bed was also very squeaky which kept us awake.
