This house was just what we needed for a end of summer getaway! Location could not be best- steps from the beach and restaurants. We had the best time and didn’t want to leave. Thank you for a ride Sergio ending to summer!

We really enjoyed our stay at the property and spending time with our adult daughters. The view from the roof deck was spectacular and everything on the island is easy to walk to. A beautiful and peaceful beach vacation.

We had the best time at Paula’s house. The house was clean and included almost everything we needed. The decks on the roof was fun, but the deck on the first floor was also perfect for sitting outside. The walk to the beach took almost no time, and the outdoor shower made clean up easy! The place was very dog friendly and we enjoyed having our four-legged family with us.

The house was exactly as described in the property overview and pictures. Check in was easy and convenient. The house was clean and had a lot of natural light. We contacted Paula to inquire about the games which were mentioned as being a available when we couldn't find them and she very quickly dropped off a bag full of games. We also had to contact her when we noticed small ants in the kitchen and again, she very quickly responded and came over to take care of them. I absolutely loved watching the sunsets from the rooftop deck! We were very happy with the house and with Paula.

This was our first stay on Plum Island, and it was wonderful. Paula’s beach house was perfect for my husband, me, and our small pup. This rental is so clean and well-equipped, you literally just have to bring your suitcase and a hairbrush. The spacious back deck was perfect for afternoon reading, and a step down to a sandy, fence-enclosed area was secure for our little guy to play in. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, the bedrooms on the lower level were quite damp, but we stayed on the main level of the house, which was cozy and comfortable. A very short walk brought us to a beautiful beach, which we had to ourselves this time of year. Nearby picturesque Newburyport is a lovely waterfront town filled with restaurants and shops to explore. Thank you, Paula, for being such a responsive, helpful host. We will definitely be planning a return trip next year.

Everything about the property was as listed. It is extremely close to the beach, Plum Island is beautiful and the owners were very easy to talk to. It is a great house to bring dogs to as there is a wonderful fenced in backyard that is very secure for the dogs. The tower on the house is stunning and offers a wonderful view of the ocean and area. The kitchen was very well equipped and serviceable. There is a big dining room table. The shops of Newburyport are very close to the area and easy to get to. Sitting on the back deck was very pleasant. The TV with the sound bar was terrific. Now, the reasons we cut short our vacation. The back sliding door would not lock at all and there was no stick to put into the slider area to reinforce it. The owners were away and told us they would bring a dowel over as soon as possible, within two days. This made us very uncomfortable, although the owners reassured us the area was completely safe, which it most likely is. However, this didn't sit well with my wife or our sister in law. The second issue was the downstairs bedrooms, there are two of them. The area had a very musty, almost moldy smell to it, even with the air conditioning going in the room downstairs. Now, we have had an extremely wet summer here in New England and I am sure that contributed to the problem, but the couple could not stand sleeping down there and decided to sack out on the couches upstairs. Our son and wife were contemplating joining us later in the week, and we cancelled them because of this issue as they have two young children. My wife and I had the upstairs bedroom, which was kind of small and only had one bureau and one nightstand. It did have an air conditioner in the bedroom. The living area was kind of smallish and the furniture was uncomfortable, and we don't think it would be a good fit for six people. We do think it would be fine for a couple or a single person, as long as the back door gets a lock. We'd also recommend getting three new up to date air conditioners and think about getting a dehumidifier in the basement to help eliminate the musty smell. We have to only give it an overall two rating, because we only stayed two nights because of the issues mentioned. For what we paid, and in comparison to three other places we have stayed at using similar methods of renting a house and comparable prices on the Cape and on a lake, we would choose a different house next time.

This was our 2nd year staying at Paula's Plum Island beach house. The 2nd year she provided great weather and a relaxing stay. We love our time so much on the quaint and quiet Island and staying at the clean and well provided home that we're planning on staying for 2 weeks next year. Thank you Paula for being such a lovely host.

We were looking to stay somewhere local but relaxing, Plum Island was perfect. We felt like we were in a different world. I put my order in for great weather with Paula last fall and she did not disappoint neither did her cozy beach house. From the airy beach decor to the fenced in yard for the dogs. The house served us perfectly, as well as our guests that visited during the sunny beach days. We all loved the outdoor shower and the convenience of nearby downtown Newburyport for shopping and dining. Looking forward to next summer on the island, where I had the opportunity to spend many summer days as a young girl.

What a perfect week - location, property, weather, etc. it was the ideal escape for a week with family.

Stayed here for a little over a month while traveling and never had a single issue! Everything was very clean, had more than enough kitchen utensils for cooking and was SO close to the ocean :) Absolutely loved my stay! Hope to come back in the summer some day!

House was in great location, 5 min. walk to beach. Very comfortable home, and it was clean and inviting the minute you walk in. Enjoyed morning walks to beach, and on roadways around the area.

We just love this house and location. Paula offers an immaculate, gracious beach house- and thinks of everything you could possibly need to enjoy your time on this special Island. The rooftop deck is a treat; and I can’t say enough about how great it is to be able to bring our dog with us. She even provides blankets for the pups! We plan on returning next year, thank you Paula!

This is our second year at this house, and we love everything about it. Super close to the beach, Lovely back yard with great deck and kid friendly. Paula is an excellent host! Look forward to many more years here!

My husband and I stayed at Paula’s cottage during the first week of June with our dog Alvin. We had the most wonderful time — it was quiet since most kids were still in school and it felt like we had the island to ourselves! The cottage was perfect for our stay; it’s rare to find rentals that are pet-friendly AND beautiful! We loved the light and bright beachy vibe. Everything that we needed was there, including beach towels and chairs, a Bluetooth speaker, hairdryer, and plenty of extra blankets (the beginning of our stay was chilly!). We spent a relaxing week hanging on the beach (an easy 5 minute walk), eating lobster rolls from Bob Lobster and ice cream from The Cottage Creamery, and strolling around Newburyport (The Paddle Inn was a favorite for dinner). For those with pets, our dog loved the hiking trails at Old Town Hill in Newbury. We would absolutely stay here again, thank you Paula for being such an excellent host!

We picked a particularly hot week to be on Plum Island and were very grateful for the comfortable air conditioning in the house. This home is very well maintained and stocked with everything we needed for our stay (sheets, towels, games and beach toys) The rooftop deck was an added bonus. We were up there every night to relax after the kids went to bed and enjoyed coffee up there in the mornings. The house is a 5-minute walk to the beach and there is plenty of off-street parking. We would certainly come back again and hope to do so!

Clean, comfy, near to beach, great views from rooftop porch, well-stocked kitchen, plenty of parking. Fun places to eat and all in walking distance, Parker River Preserve just down the road, a great place to visit, spend time on beach, fish. A bit tight for 5 adults and two toddlers, but all in all a good time. We'd come back!

I grew up going to Plum Island in the summers with my parents. when my kids were young, we vacationed at Hampton Beach every year, and I always made a point to bring them to Plum Island. I never lost the love I had for it. We have rented for the past ffour years here on the Southern end of the Blvd. We love the Island so much, that we came back again. this year we decided to take our two pets and wow, it was great! Paula and John made sure that anything you could possibly want in a rental at the beach, was provided. I can't say enough, about have a great bathroom. The cottage was clean and updated, yet managed to keep that beach feel to it. We had a front porch, my favorite, to a back deck with seating and a grill, and oh let's not forget the roof top deck, where you can see from one end of the island to the other and also Newburyport. The kitchen was a decent size and so very clean and had alot of amenities. We didn't cook much, but all you needed was there if you wanted to. Having laundry is so important at the beach and it made my week so much easier. We don't watch TV on vacation, but it was there, for the taking. We love the Beachcomer, and this location was a short walk to everything including the best sandy beach. The beach is not rocky, which is a little uncommon in Massachusetts, one of the reasons, I love the it there. We are going back again next year this time, for two weeks. thank you for your hospitality Paula & John!

less than a 5 minute stroll to the beach. We chose this property because we wanted to vacation with our 2 Golden Retrievers. The Beach and community was the most dog friendly we have ever encountered, and our post labor day stay was delightful. The house is exceptionally well kept, and had everything we needed. Owners were exceptionally nice and helpfull. No complaints at all about anything. I really enjoyed staying here, and hope to return next year.

Photos and description are exactly as described - the cottage is well maintained and immaculately clean. Anything you might need is provided (bed linens, bath and beach towels, beach toys and boogie boards for the kids, books and board games for down time, well-stocked kitchen). Things we especially enjoy: - the roof top deck with views of the ocean on one side, and marsh on the other - 5 minute walk to the beach - back deck with grill, where we ate most of our meals - 10 minute drive to downtown Newburyport - historic seaport with lots of shops and restaurants Activities that we enjoy are going to the beach, kayaking, spending time at the Plum Island Refuge where you can enjoy the beach or do bird watching, and visiting Newburyport. The week passes too quickly. I've been coming to this particular cottage for 9 years, and have just signed up for next year. It's always a pleasure to stay here.

A special place, that is loved by many and well-maintained.

Loved the location, proximity to beaches, refuge, and Plum Island Grille couldn't be any better ....unless you're willing to pay beachfront prices. So close to Newburyport too. The cottage itself is well appointed and thoughtfully designed. Kitchen and bathroom well stocked, laundry room was really nice to have along with small fenced in yard for our pup. Nice outdoor porches,grill and beach amenities along with an awesome rooftop deck (views !), great internet, and TV. Ventilation with ocean breezes on the first floor. Owners WERE responsive to inquiries. Only negative .... the two bedrooms on first floor, (basement level) ... although they were well designed and decorated, lacked fresh air ventilation.

I have rented this property for over four years and our family considers it our home away from home. We have reserved it once again for 2019. The owners have provided all but our clothes and food. Everything required to prepare our meals is available. It takes only a few minutes to walk to the public beach, a convenient store and a couple of restaurants. On rainy days shopping in downtown Newburyport is a short car ride. There is a lovely deck off the kitchen where we enjoy our meals, especially breakfast. You can park your car when you arrive and not get back into it until you leave. Truly a relaxing experience.

This is the third year in a row that my family has vacationed at this lovely house. As always, we arrived at a clean, bright, inviting home. Everything we need to spend the week is available to us - from kitchen items to extra blankets for cool, June nights. We love watching the beautiful sunset from the rooftop deck. The short walk to the beach is great - especially with all of the items a family of four brings along! John and Paula are available if needed and always accommodating. We are already booked for next year!
