Thank you again to Ceri and Liz for our wonderful stay att Villa Carlota. Villa is very clean, comfortable and modern. Ceri was very attentive to the questions we had. Check-in was quick and flexible. Pool area is nice and the patio/terrace area sunny - the views are superb. Beds are comfortable, although nights can be cool i october so extra blankets would have been good. The only minus for the villa is maybe that you can't get anywhere on foot, the main road to Competa is narrow and there aren't any service or restaurants nearby, you need to take the car. Tried to go to rest. Pavo Real one day on foot over the hill with googles help and and ended up on a narrow alley and were chased by a big and furious guard dog, so watch out! But all i all, a lovely stay. Would definitely like be back in near future. Thank you x

Cant praise Villa Carlota, owner Liz and villa manager Ceri enough. The villa is absolutely perfect in every way, location, ( walking into the natural park to Acebuchal etc is awesome) view ( from the panoramic windows is stunning), quality of the villa and a fantastic pool everything has been thought of ( even eggcups 😀). Cant recommend this villa enough. Communication with Liz and Ceri has been faultless. Other VRBO owners could learn things from them If ever staying near Competa again, I'll be trying to book Villa Carlota, thats for certain.

Return visit to this beautiful villa in a stunning location, which is still as perfect and relaxing as our first visit 4 years ago! This is our second time renting Carlotta and we are never disappointed. With everything you need for a relaxing stay, the property has a well equipped kitchen complete with all the pots and utensils whether eating in or taking out (I particularly like the sandwich boxes and ice packs). We are a family of 4 and this was the perfect property for us to enjoy family time with the beautiful pool, views and excellent WiFi!! Well located for visiting Competa, Torox, Nerja, Frigliana and the surrounding areas. Brilliant booking experience and check in was seamless with regular contact from both the property owner, Liz and Ceri who looked after us for check in and during our stay. We’ll be back again soon! Its a lovely villa - spacious, clean and quiet. The pool is wonderful! The extra meals offered by Ceri the property manager were lovely and highly recommended. Liz was great at sending info, and was very accommodating when our trip had to be rearranged. Definitely recommended!

Great to return and enjoy the tranquil location and wonderful views at Vila Carlota. The property was immaculately clean, spacious and well equipped. I would definitely recommend the home cooked food ordered for our arrival which was prepared in generous portion sizes. Tempting as it was to stay relaxing at the poolside, we ventured into Competa village for a meal in the square and a visit to the ice cream parlour, which is a must. We also enjoyed the scenery in the local walks of the national park.

Although some way up the hills from the coast this is a lovely restful retreat with some very tranquil touches. The rooms are of good size, cool where necessary. Only minor issues would be if booking this property with small children; the pool is down a garden path and cannot be seen from the main house. The house faces north/east-ish so mid afternoon the sun has disappeared however the views of the National Park are gorgeous. One final frustration was the dust from the track seems to shower everything with a layer of dust. Frustrating as it really is a gorgeous villa.

We really enjoyed our return to Carlota. Despite Covid restrictions for the journey, it was well worth it. It truly is a beautiful location with the views over the National Park. The villa is clean, well equipped and very spacious inside and out with a good size heated pool. The home cooked food we ordered for our arrival was lovely, with generous portion sizes. We would recommend horse riding nearby at Los Olivillos who cater for complete beginners to the more experienced. We also enjoyed visiting Competa Village with its picturesque square and great ice cream parlour, and Nerja for Burriana beach. There is also a short walk to the local pub that was well worth the effort, as they serve great bar meals.

We as a family of five had a wonderful stay in this lovely villa! The conversation with the owner and the housekeeper was prompt and straightforward, the sorrounding is beautiful and the place itself very clean an well kept, the kitchen has everything you need. It´s a reasonable drive away from the beach and the next town with a good amount of restaurants and shops. The only "problem" we had was to convince the children not just to spend the whole time in the pool but do some cultural excursions (Granada ist just one and half hour away)! Thank you Liz and Ceri for the opportunity of such a nice and sunny break after all the months of Corona trouble!

Fabulous time spent at Villa Carlota again! We keep coming back here because the Villa, pool and grounds are always so clean and well kept. The views are stunning with so many local walks to do - we hiked to the Lost Village and had a delicious long lunch this time. Competa has a great selection of restaurants and bars to suit all and it’s only a short car journey to Nerja and the surrounding beaches. Shout Out to Becy who provided us with a fridge full of supplies and home cooked meals on arrival PLUS an amazing Wedding Anniversary carrot 🎂! Thank you 😊

The description states "Charming" which is spot on. Nestled in a beautiful spot in the Andalusian hills this immaculately presented property is a gem amongst gems. Every comfort has been provided by the owners who are always very responsive to any questions which we found very comforting. The property manager was always "on hand" to assist with anything including a comprehensive "home cooked" Spanish menu at very reasonable prices if you didn't feel like cooking in the well equipped modern kitchen or the BBQ perched on the patio edge with glorious views. A car is essential, and the picturesque village of Competa is just 8 kilometres further up the hills. This has a buzzing centre full of cafe's serving traditional tapas and various other dishes but avoid this on Mondays as most are closed. (as we found out). Maria taxi's are very reliable and quite reasonable as suggested by the info pack. We intended to take a few walks in the National Park but the pool was to inviting and spent most of our time in it. We would definitely return as our 10 days was fabulous even with the Covid restrictions it was well worth the bother. ps if you are driving to Malaga airport is it worth leaving extra time as the motorway gets very busy at peak times which can be very stressful when catching a plane ! All in all a fantastic holiday thank you Liz.

Brilliant stay .villa was lovely the only slight negative was the remote location and a hire car would be essential . And the mountain roads are tricky if your not a confident driver . But overall it was a fabulous stay to celebrate my 50th and Honeymoon.

We spent a week at this delightful house with stunning panoramic views of the mountains. The terrace and pool are delightful. The house is stylish, very well presented and very clean.Importantly the kitchen is particularly well equipped as we ate in most evenings and star gazed on the terrace.Liz was a very efficient host and Christine and Malcom who met us and showed us to the property were very helpful.My only reservation about the property is that there is a very steep driveway at the house and it is best to reverse down unless you want to burn out the clutch on your car. Consequently we parked some distance away but we’re happy to do so. I would highly recommend the villa to anyone who wants a peaceful getaway .

We were two families holidaying together with children aged from 1 to 9. We all loved the villa. The heated pool being the star of the show. "We loved going in the swimming pool because it was nice and warm" Lily, aged 5. "When I jumped in the pool I made a big splash" Joel aged 3. The views from the terrace were just sublime, with a variety of places to sit and soak up the sun or eat together and options to sit in the sun or the shade. The 6 sun loungers which we split between the pool area and the terrace were comfy due to the added touch of cushions. The pool area was gated off which was perfect for small children and gave us peace of mind. The beautiful mountainside location came with its downside in that there was quite a big drop off from the terrace which we would say is not ideal for adventurous toddlers with no sense of danger. But the evening walks we took along the mountain track to a ford about 1.5km away allowed us to enjoy the views from multiple vantage points along the valley. On arrival we were welcomed with a thoughtful and helpful gift of wine, beer, milk, juice, bread and bottled water. The villa was well equipped meaning we could enjoy cooking meals in the kitchen each day, pick a book off the shelf to read, or grab the blanket off the sofa to snuggle under when the evening cooled. We loved the location, being away from everything, right in the heart of nature. The mountain roads are not for the faint hearted but we soon got used to the 17 minute drive down the road to the motorway at Torrox which then took us to all of the local towns and villages. We particularly enjoyed the weekly market at Torre del Mar on Thursday.

Had a lovely holiday at the villa. Very quiet and private. Everything you need is there, even pool towels. Very clean. Need a car as a little bit remote, but wonderful views.

Stunning views and beautifully looked after property with fantastic garden and pool

Would highly recommend Villa Carlota! It has everything you could possibly need - comfy beds, soft towels, fully fitted kitchen and is tastefully furnished. Outside terrace areas and the pool area are fantastic and the views really are amazing! Liz has been wonderful to deal with and most helpful with recommendations. Also should point out that Christine and Malcolm who meet and greet were very welcoming!

Spent a week here over Christmas as a family of 8 (grandparents, parents, teens and littles) and couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing, rejuvenating vacation. The views from Villa Carlota were incredible, the gated pool (we paid extra to have it heated—SO worth it) provided hours of entertainment for our younger kids, the home was comfortable and large enough for all of us to have space, WiFi was strong for the teens, the woodburning stove created warmth and ambience, the kitchen was so well-equipped we made almost all our meals there... The list goes on and on!

This was our second visit to Villa Carlota and we can’t wait to return! The quality and size of accommodation with heated pool and stunning views from the spacious patio gave us the perfect late October family holiday. The sun shone all day, every day with temperatures of 22-25 deg giving us the option of just lazing around sun bathing or venturing into the surrounding countryside and villages. The villa has a selection of books/maps including a detailed trail map for the National Park which the villa overlooks. My gaze was constantly drawn to the 1830m high mountain named Navachic which I hope to scale on my next visit when I remember to pack my walking boots! All the local villages are a pretty collection of bright white washed buildings that creep up the hill sides around a seemingly random network of winding narrow streets and paths. Our favourite village Frigiliana rewarded us when we explored its upper reaches and stumbled upon Restaurant El Adarve with its ‘piquant’ chicken risotto and equally ‘hot’ view from the terrace. We returned back to the villa from Frigiliana via the mountain track (recommend confident drivers only and during daylight hours due to single track along steep-sided valleys) and took dessert at the historical El-Acebuchal (highly recommended for restaurant baked bread, fabulous salad, wild boar stew etc). Villa Carlota is a very well furnished comfortable home and a credit to the owners, who organised everything so professionally to ensure we enjoyed our return visit. We will definitely be back!

Villa Carlotta is simply superb! In a great location out on the campo, affording spectacular views, this well appointed villa is a great home from home. Comfortably sleeping 8 (although we had a party of 6). Ok, so there's no phone signal and the wifi's a bit temperamental (hence the 4 stars). Clearly the former is outside of Liz's control, but hey, you're on holiday, so what's the rush? 5km out of Competa and a little more for neighbouring Canillas, Villa Carlota is close enough to humanity for when you need it and far enough away for when you don't. Use Maria's taxis when you need to get about (her card's in the great welcome binder -and she speaks excellent English for those of us who's Spanish is embarrassingly limited). Would categorically recommend the house to anyone. You won't regret it.

I stayed at Villa Carlota with 4 girlfriends and we had an absolute ball. Between us we have 11 children and 7 dogs and felt we were due a rest! Apart from a couple of short outings, we stayed at the villa and sunbathed, swam, read, ate, drank and had a daily siesta. The villa was perfect for us. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived, the beds were very comfy and we had everything we needed for our stay. Throughly recommended for families too as the pool is secure. My only regret is that we didn't 'have time' to have a good look around the area. We vaguely mooted the idea of visiting the lost village but couldn't summon the energy!! That will keep for another trip in the cooler months. We ate out at El Pilon in Competa which was fantastic (ask for a table on the Terrace), lovely friendly waiters/waitresses and great food. They even gave us a free shot as we left, which set us up nicely of the rest of the evening! We telephoned for a taxi (can't remember the name but the card is in the folder) when we ate at El Pilon and a lovely chap collected us, with 15 minutes notice. He refused our offer to pay on arrival and just said to call when we had finished eating so he could collect us and we could pay then. I'm not sure that would happen in the UK! It truly couldn't have been better and Liz was fantastic at getting back to me with any questions prior to our visit.

We really enjoyed our stay in this well maintained, well equipped property. The views were wonderful and the villa was very spacious outside and in. The pool was just the right temperature and ideal for fun with the children. Will definitely make another visit.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time in our two week stay at Villa Carlota. The property itself was well equipped and with the excellent swimming pool met all our needs ,the location in the mountains made it well situated for the small town of Competa and all in all made for an excellent family holiday. I /we rate this property and location as a 5 star rental,,,,we had a great time !

We spent a fantastic 10 days in Villa Carlota. Villa was very clean and spacious and well equipped. The pool was lovely and refreshing . Competa is very nice and beautifull village and there is several other little villages near by where you can visit. We visited also in the caves of Nerja and Alhambra in Granada. Maisemat olivat sanoinkuvaamattoman upeat, niitä jaksoi tuijotella pidempäänkin. Ympärillä oli todella hiljaista, joten jos rauhaa kaipaa niin siellä sai todella olla rauhassa. Sääkin oli juuri sopiva kesäkuun alussa, ei ollut vielä liian kuuma. Emme tarvinneet altaan lämmitystä, vesi oli ilman lämmitystäkin suomalaiseen makuun sopivaa.
