Staying in a castle was a very unique experience

The staff were excellent and very welcoming. The restaurant choices were limited but reasonably priced and good value. The room was medium sized and looked into the rather bare courtyard of the castle. The public areas need to be refreshed and the grounds were not as lush as in other pousadas. All the pool chairs were taken. There were only about eight spots available. Perhaps buy more chairs. Good parking space nearby. Nothing to really see in the town itself, but a good stopover on the way to another destination.

It was a unique clean facility. Amazing the condition and to be able to experience the history.

Not a lot of other attractions or sites in Alvito but a short drive to Evora which has sites to explore

Wanted a drink from the bar but only wine available despite the obvious bottles of gin and whisky in a locked cabinet. Hotel was very quiet but given that it was open we felt a full range of drinks should have been available

Good breakfast with fresh produce. Really nice staff. Great restaurant with great food, I definitely recommend going there. The room was big and nice. The surroundings and garden are tidy and clean, even if not too big.

The pool area doesn't get much sun after pretty early (17:30 when I was there) which is a shame. The decor is a bit outdated but it's still nice.

Staffed by young people, all exhibiting a high degree of training excellence. Very attentive and friendly and made our stay so enjoyable. The evening meal was excellent too. A special thank you to reception who let us know an item had been left by us inadvertently and then posted on to us. Enormous care taken and we're very grateful.

Beautiful facility, clean, comfortable rooms with modern bathrooms. Nice dining options. Lovely pool area in gardens.

The noise from a town celebration went till 6am, and the pounding music was loud.

They have a big problem, not enough staff to run the restaurant. It can only take around 50% of the guests. You have to go to a roadside cafe for dinner.

The location is amazing, the castle is very well kept, the rooms are big and clean. The pool is great and the service was excellent. We had dinner there and it was good and with very reasonable prices. We really enjoyed our night there.

The bed was a little small but we slept well anyway.

Stay in a fabulous castle and have a 5 star meal!! This was so relaxing and fun. We splurged to have the suite because…castle. The staff was truly phenomenal and so friendly. We needed to make a dinner reservation, and we are so thankful we did because it was spectacular; it was all local and it would’ve been a $300 meal in the states (it cost 60 euros). The castle even has wifi, an elevator, a pool and great air conditioning!

The only drawback was that we go lost driving there- so that’s our fault. We would just say to make sure to confirm the Pestana address from the Pestana website to be sure or where you’re going (Apple maps and booking.com didn’t do the trick).

Had dinner at the restaurant and loved it, such good food, the staff is very nice, breakfast is diverse and good quality. The bed were extremely comfy. The pool is small but really quiet and pleasant to be at.

The constant piano music, could change a bit. But those are just details, loved the staying.

Loved the room - so spacious, comfortable bed, lovely view out to the garden. REALLY appreciated the A/C and pool. Great breakfast.

The dinner we had (churrascaria) was terrible - the meat was way over cooked.
