It was one of the best places I’ve ever been! The style of the building is very interesting: traditional style mixed with Indonesian elements of decor. Everything made with love! The owners of the hotel is very nice couple was greeting us with a big warm. The room was clean and cozy. The restaurant offers you gourmet cuisine. The hotel has Spa and you can order massages or face treatments. The air is so fresh around so I couldn't stop enjoying breathing! The calm and silence all around!

Very comfortable room with large bathroom, everything was spotlessly clean. Staff were professional and attentive. The location is very rural and totally peaceful. The only noises we heard were the birds and the bells from a heard of cows grazing in the field below the hotel. Views are absolutely spectacular. We ate lunch and dinner and the food was excellent. The beers and wine we had were also very good. Free typical continental style buffet breakfast was good.

Use of the spa facilities is 25e per person for an hour, this has to be pre booked. The spa looked to be quite small and we did not use it as we felt it is not value for money. While all the food and drinks were had were excellent, it is quite a bit more expensive than what you would expect in the region.

The location and the view from the dining room were magnificent. The staff were charming and very helpful.

Not enough electric light in the bathroom. Not much choice on the restaurant menu after a couple of days.

We were one of only two couples there. We also had our one year old daughter and dog with us and they were very accommodating. We had the entire dining room to ourselves for dinner!

The food could have been a bit better.

The location is incredible - the views are beautiful. The hotel building especially the woodwork is really nice. The restaurant on-site has exceptional food and is highly recommended for a traditional local meal. There are plenty of hiking routes into the spectacular Gorbeia Natural Park a short drive away.

(This is probably a very naive statement for a not so touristy area however….) For a hotel that advertises as speaking English on booking.com - check in and check out were quite a challenge and on arrival we were not made aware of any bar facilities or local conveniences (we were offered a dinner reservation and spa booking at additional cost) we didn’t initially feel very welcome to the hotel.

Stuff was not friendly and assistive. They disregarded our request and question, and extra charged us for basic facilities such as spa. we did not enjoyed the foodd in the restaurant, and the prices were extremely high.

Relatively expensive for all extra services. Breakfast was limited, not much choice. Restaurant has really good foods but come up quite expensive.

We loved the location and the rooms with a terrace and the view of the mountains. We did not have the time to use the spa facilities. We were travelling with our dog and the area is perfect to take walks.

What an extraoridary place to stay! If in need for rest, walks, silence and enjoy a great restaurant, wines, spa and kind family run hotel with unique identity look no further. Great traditional Basque building with indonesian touches in the interior (yes it does work). This a wonderful place with the most kind family running it. The food is superb and of great value (4 course menu 34 euro). Great walks in the forest start just outside the hotel. No background noise; just a great place 45 min from Bilbao. This palace should have 4/5* not sure why only 3 are allocated.

Not sure if it rains for a week..... ;-) But really nothing.

The location was great for access to local hiking and especially Mount Gorbeia. The owner showed me an access point to the mountain that saved me from driving a long way to a mroe known starting point for the hike. The spa was fun and we had a couple massages that were organized by the staff whihc were soem of the best we every had. It was also very, very quiet which we loved.

Really there were no negatives and we would stay here again in a heartbeat (and probably will!).

The hotel has been built and maintained with the upmost care and attention to detail. Everything used for the construction was of very high quality and very nicely and tastefully decorations. The breakfast is superb, the environment was a true paradise and everything was perfect!

Everything was great. Nonetheless, I think the hotel is catered more towards the adults-only or couples clientele. They were very gracious by opening their doors to families with young kids such as ours, and although everybody was very kind and understanding of our kids behavior, there is a mismatch between the ambiance of the hotel and the guests. I think if it will be more open towards having families and kids they should relax a bit more some of the seriousness of the ambiance. Otherwise I think the couples and adults that go there expecting a super relaxed time may be surprised to hear kids playing, while at the same time families that want to enjoy the location and the natural surroundings with young kids may feel the ambiance a bit too stiff and serious for families. Nothing wrong with the hotel, the services or the staff, it was really wonderful! But I think the ambiance of the hotel matches more an adults-only clientele. If they want to cater towards a broader clientele that includes families it would be good to relax a bit more the ambiance. Again, not a criticism at all, everything was PERFECT, it is just a personal perception...

The views

Rude reception! Left standing for ages and hardly acknowledged. Asked for butter with roll at diner and were told they didn't normally offer it. Bath tiny & weren't shown to room just given key and left to own device's
