The weekend was phenomenal and everything was perfect for us. It was a floor-plan that worked great for our sewing weekend and the house was well stocked with everything we needed. We all loved Tyson the dog (so gentle and well trained) and Richard was kind and helpful. The yard is full of fruit trees (a real treat when the fruit is ripe!), and the view is incredible. Sunsets were beautiful. We saw and heard the train below the back yard but it wasn’t an issue for any of us. We’ve all used earplugs at get aways and that solved any potential sleep issues for each of us. In Pinole, on San Pablo Ave (within 2 miles), we found a dessert place, delicious dinner spot (The Pear Tree) and a wonderful donut place (Bear Claw Bakery) that serves breakfast items until 11am. Famiglio Italian delivered to the house and the food was fantastic. We are already planning our next friend weekend! Thank you, Richard.

The house is clean and Richard was very friendly. This place is closer to San Fransisco and has got easy access to all of near by beaches. I would strongly recommend the stay at this place if your have a trip to SF.

Thank you Richard for your hospitality. Staying at your house was exactly the accomodation that we needed for attending a family event. The property is unique with a beautiful backyard that has a dynamic view of the bay. The beds are comfortable and the bunk bed was great for the children.

In the area for my Father-in-laws funeral. Location was near his house and worked out well.

This property was the perfect spot to stay to visit family in the east Bay, to ride the Vallejo ferry to San Francisco, to enjoy the cuisine in Berkeley, and to attend a home game for the SF 49ers. Thank you Richard for sharing this special cottage in the charming Pinole community.

Great location, comfortable beds, bright airy rooms, nice neighborhood, everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay. We enjoyed visiting with Richard - almost daily. Beautiful view of bay area from patio. Enjoyed peaches from one of the trees on property. Helpful book with places to visit and eat. Easy commute to San Francisco or northern coastal area. Would highly recommend staying at this VRBO, owner was very responsive to needs/questions.

Major issues: -I was nearly electrocuted by the coffee maker. The power button was loose and popped and sparked when I tried to turn it on. Then all of the outlets in the kitchen stopped working. Owner said he would have an electrician come and also replace the coffee maker, but he did not reply for the rest of the day. These electrical issues (along with the broken fridge and his personal visitors in the middle of a pandemic - see below) made us uncomfortable and we checked out a day early. -The refrigerator stopped working after the first day. Owner offered to reimburse for the food that was ruined if we had a receipt (I don't keep receipts from the grocery store and some of the food was homemade by a family member). He did provide a mini fridge as a back-up but this was very inconvenient. -Owner had some people come by the property to view something in his living area in the back, and we were not given any warning. This should have been delayed while he had a renter. This was not very considerate - especially in the middle of a pandemic. -The trains in the back are pretty frequent and loud (including horns). I counted several between 3am and 6am one night, which would be an issue for a light sleeper. Minor issues: -Owner lives in the back of property with his dog, which was kind of buried in the listing - you had to click on the link that says "view more about the host." It was not a major issue, but it would have been nice to be up front about this and include it under the details about the rental. That is what I have seen other owners do in similar situations and allows you to have a clear understanding of the rental situation. -owner only provided bath towels. No wash cloths or hand towels. Overall, this did not live up to the standard we were used to with other VRBO properties. The owner was also pretty defensive when issues were brought to his attention (when the outlets stopped working his response included a statement about having the house inspected two years ago - not sure why that matters if the outlets are not working now). Would not return or recommend to others. Too bad - it does have a lovely view, but that is about all.

The backyard is huge with cool brick grill and plenty of space for outdoor events. It also has a beautifull view of the bay(I think it the bay) very relaxing feeling. There is nothing better then a coffee early while staring into the San Francisco Bay. I had a great stay with no issues. Richard was also great, he was very kind and courteous and was quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had. Will definitely stay there again.

This is a very well maintained property. The house was clean and had everything we needed. the owner is very responsive and helpful. The backyard with the patio has an amazing view of the ocean. We absolutely loved staying there. Definitely will come back if we visit the Bay Area again.

The train did not bother us at all. We slept well. Comfortable beds. Not much in the house, but was not an issue because we spent most of our time in San Francisco. We were able to eat breakfast, get ready and headed out the door. We got home late each night and just went straight to sleep. Nice location for the price. We were close to everything in the bay area.
