The Old Bakery is clean, light and airy in a fantastic location for access to the wonderful walks and also has great views. We really enjoyed our stay here and will return.

Property was delightful, situated near the village pub and shop post office and chip shop there was also a lovely bistro. The beach was within walking distance but was downhill! The coastal path was also accessible.

Its a lovely cottage with lots of space and light. Good position, although parking is an issue. On face value it appeared clean but could be improved.

Great location in center of Mortehoe tucked down a side street opposite the pub The Chichester Arms.
Woolacombe about a 5 min drive down steep narrow road that can get busy. You can walk over the hill would take about 30 mins.
Parking can be pre booked with North Devon council is a must as no parking at property.
Property itself spotless and perfect for 6 of us 4 adults and 2 kids. Great location for pubs and takeaways. 👍

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at Old Bakery Cottage.
The cottage was perfect for our group of 5. Views out over to Woolacombe were stunning, the facilities within the cottage were great, location is fantastic, only a 5 min drive into Woolacombe, can be walked, but a steep hill to come back up. The village of Mortehoe is great with 2 lovely pubs serving great good, a fantastic fish and chip shop, tea shop, bistro and take away.
Just perfect and would definitely recommend. We will return.
Thank you.

Comfortable and spacious accommodation
We enjoyed our holiday at The Old Bakery which was very clean with a stunning view from the balcony and would not hesitate to go there again, such a lovely little village with beautiful coastal walks too.

The view from the balcony makes this home a perfect location. The sea view and the fields around you are spectacular. The home is fully equipped with all you need to self cater. Comfy beds and lovely showers. Ticks all the boxes for me!

Perfect
We’ve stayed here many times over the years and it was so good to be back after 2yrs gap. Great location,2 pubs serving good food and great for walking and the beach.although you’ll need the car to get there unless you don’t mind walking up a very steep hill on the way back!

Fabulous View
This is the second time we have visited The Old Bakery over a two year period the house and it doesn’t disappoint it has an excellent view from the balcony it’s a little sun trap. The bedrooms have plenty of space and it even has a laundry room the living room and dinning table are amply large with that good view all in all a splendid place to base yourselves. If your walkers like us you will enjoy leaving the car and setting out on foot in Mortehoe as the coastal trail is stunning as is the walk behind the Bakery to Woolacombe. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back!

The Old Bakery. Stayed many times, would stay again. Very clean and great location.
We have stayed many times at this property. Great location, very convenient and great views. It has definitely improved over the years we have been staying ie new kitchen TV etc. We do feel however it needs new more comfortable furniture in the lounge area and the dining table and chairs are awful. Having said that it wouldn’t stop us from staying again.

We had a wonderful weeks stay at this property, fantastic location in a lovely village. Quiet and comfortable with everything we could need. Would love to come back again one day.

Old Bakery Cottage Mortehoe
This was a real find for us and did not expect such a well equipped self contained property. Our stay was for 7 nights in a very quiet village with two pubs, a fish and chip shop and a specialist take away shop. The ground floor contained three spacious bedrooms, a bathroom and laundry room. One bedroom had an suite which was small but convenient. The 1st floor contained kitchen, lounge and dining area leading onto a large external patio area with views to the sea and hills at the back of the property. This layout proved to be the selling point of the property. Would definitely book this property again especially as it was ideally placed for visiting Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and other nearby places.

Old Bakery was a perfect cottage in a perfect location for a great week in Woolacombe. From booking through to arrival we received all the information we needed to ensure a smooth rental in these difficult times. The cottage itself was immaculately clean and had everything we needed for a wonderful stay, the views are glorious and the space is comfortable with plenty of room for six people.

a hidden gem
Our 3rd visit to the Old Bakery and you have not let us down, a real home from home with the added bonus of a few improvements, a fantastic new kitchen with new layout and a new shower.
The cottage has the most amazing views from the balcony, the hills and the sheep and cows to on one side and the most amazing view of Woolacombe bay to the other side; plus it is nestled in the beautiful hamlet of Mortehoe. Which has everything you need for a holiday, 2 pubs, a fish and chip shop - which are amazing! an ice cream shop and a park for the children!!
The owner is very friendly and approachable, we love the pink house, as my youngest son calls it!!

Wonderful week in Devon
The cottage is in a great location and has wonderful views from the balcony.
The accommodation is well laid out with plenty of space. The only thing missing in the kitchen is a few utensils like a spatula and wooden spoon. Luckily we also brought our own ice cube trays as none were provided.
I look forwards to a return visit in the future.

Good Location
This cottage was in the perfect location for walking. There are several walks to be done from this village and it is also walkable into Woolacombe, although the walk back up the hill is pretty tough.
There are a few small improvements that could be made, for instance a new seal on the bottom of the shower guard in the bathroom, better quality cooking tools and a lick of paint in the bathroom, which is looking a bit tired. I would say that although it was generally clean, it was not quite up to “Covid clean” standard although there are sprays provided so you can DIY.
The facilities in the village are adequate with a couple of pubs, restaurant, 2 take aways and a Post Office. It’s a nice quiet village so you can really wind down.

A lovely cottage
A lovely cottage in a perfect location in the middle of the village. The view from the terrace was stunning.

Stunning but needs minor improvements
We loved the location of the cottage. The views are amazing. The OK reviews are due to two things:
Living room furniture: this is not comfortable at all for both the settees and dining room chairs
Downstairs: Became very damp as the week went by. We aired the rooms but had flies and ants on the bathroom floor.
We loved the cottage overall and are planning to stay again next year. The feedback is based on what can be improved to make the cottage even better than it is. The open plan upstairs accommodation/views is what will make us come back as it is award winning.
4.6
Very much improved from last year due to the new kitchen, upper floor, TV and heating.
As above, much improved due to upper floor. Appreciate you listened to last year’s comments and acted accordingly.
We will look forward to visiting again next year.

Excellent
Old Bakery Cottage was in an excellent location, quiet, and convenient for lots of walks. It was clean, well maintained, the beds were comfortable, and the terrace had great views and was a sun trap. Excellent value for money. It was minutes from the Chichester Arms, fish and chip shop and Rockleigh Takeaway which was excellent. Our only niggle was no teapot and no coffee maker.

Holiday at Mortehoe
Excellent location but due to COVID everything seems to close on Mondays. Local takeaway was brilliant but only open Thurs Fri Sat as Miss Feas restaurant where we had a lovely meal. Upstairs of the property was stunning lovely views and very spacious. My only criticism was the chairs at the table were very uncomfortable and not good for backs. Lovely hot showers and good heating. Would recommend this lovely holiday home.

We loved the cottage and the village it was located in. We walked down to Woolacombe beach most days
The cottage is amazing. A beautiful new kitchen and smart new flooring in the kitchen/lounge/diner made it bright and airy. It was spotlessly clean on arrival and everything we needed was supplied. I particularly like the “upside down” layout with the bedrooms on the ground floor and the lounge on the first floor giving views of the sea and surrounding hills. It was so easy wheeling our suitcases straight into the bedrooms instead of struggling with them upstairs. Everything was very cleverly thought out. Would definitely make a return visit.

Great location
What a lovely property in a great location. Great pub, bistro and takeaway in the village. Superb location for touring around North Devon. Walked miles on coastal paths. Very hilly but great for walkers. Would return to this property.

Second stay at old bakery
this was our second stay at the old bakery cottage and we had a fab time. The owners have made big improvements to the cottage...with bright decor and a modern kitchen. It is in a great location, allowing you to enjoy the quiet of Mortehoe after surfing in Woolacombe.
It could do with an outdoor tap to help you wash your wetsuits!

Good holiday.
Enjoyed our stay at Old Bakery Cottage. Property clean and comfortable and recently updated. Good views.

Lovely cottage centrally located in Mortehoe
A beautiful cottage that gives access to local beaches and great walks on North Morte point and the South West coastal path. The cottage is well appointed and includes everything you need including a useful utility / drying room. There are beautiful views to the hills at the rear of the property and sea views from the deck. A great place for a family holiday.
4.6
Great Location and Views
Conveniently located just 50 yds from The Chichester Arms down a secluded road the cottage offers peace and tranquility whilst being ideally positioned for all the facilities in Mortehoe. With spectacular views from the balcony from where you can enjoy your breakfast whilst marvelling at the coastline below the reverse format accommodation has a bright and airy feel to the upstairs where the open plan kitchen and dining/lounge area has recently been given a great new makeover. Downstairs there are 3 bedrooms, 2 double (1 with very small en-suite) and 1 with bunk beds. In addition there is a separate family bathroom and a laundry room. The downstairs is adequate but it's the upstairs living accommodation where this cottage scores so highly.
Would definitely stay again, if just for those views.

Lovely stay in Mortehoe
My husband and I have just returned from a lovely week in The Old Bakery Cottage. The cottage is really spacious and ideal for a family.
The accommodations was clean and comfortable with amazing views over the bay and surrounding countryside. The location is perfect, with everything you need close at hand in the lovely village - friendly pubs serving good food, a cafe (The Smugglers Rest) who have recently started serving evening meals (Thurs - Sat). Having eaten there would highly recommend !
Not really any negatives - my husband is disabled so a grab rail on the bath would have helped (I suspect for a lot of non disabled people too) but this is a personal requirement.
Would recommend.
4.6
Lovely spot, property is a little dated
We have just had the most wonderful week here and would definitely stay again. My "gripes" for want of a better word are that the kitchen really needs a refit - its old and dark and tired and I was less than impressed on the first night to find that all the pots and pans had been put away dirty. It took us half an hour to get the pans into a useable condition where a previous visitor had almost burnt the bottom out of them! For a family of 6, there really aren't enough pans!
But that is the extent of my gripe, the location is lovely, I wish I had known about a visitors parking permit before we came to stay - will definitely do that next time. The little touches were very nice and much appreciated after a 5 hour journey - cream tea on arrival, milk in the fridge (GENIUS!) and the towels on each bed were shaped into animals which the kids adored! Completely left in peace for the week, we had a lovely lovely stay and are already looking at availability for next year. Thanks for having us!

Old Bakery Cottage
comfortable cottage in an excellent location in Morthoe, close to pubs shop and local walks yet still peacefull and quiet, cottage has everything you need and a patio balcony with a view to die for, only one parking space but the village car park is only a couple of hundread yards away and is reasonably priced if you buy a permit, Top Marks !!

Relaxing holiday. Property needs updating.
Had yet another good holiday in the Old Bakery Cottage, we have stayed many times.
However it must now be said the property needs updating.
The kitchen especially needs renewing. The upstairs central heating is poor. Could do with a better TV with a remote that works.
The new gas fire only worked twice ( took 20 minutes to light) and then it packed up completely.
We love the cottage and the location but won’t stay again unless money is spent.

Lovely place, fantastic location!
Lovely Easter break at old Bakery Cottage with friends and family. Amazing location, fantastic views and close enough to walk into Woolacombe. Would definitely be back and recommend cottage for holiday stay.

Lovely holiday.
This was our 3rd stay at The Old Bakery and yet again it did not disappoint. The easter eggs were a lovely addition which the kids enjoyed. We would definitely book again in the future. The only issue the kids had was that the video tv didn't work.
