there was no breakfast, we made coffee and toast, the barbecue area very nice. And the ping-pong table.

I didn’t like that that the dryer was not working. had to dry my bath towels outside the patio, and my T-shirts.

Unit was clean. Easy access to keys.

Too many rules. The unit itself was satisfactory, very clean and well maintained. Outside of the unit it is like staying at a public library. This appears to be more like a retirement home. You are not allowed to used your cell phone on the Lanai (there is a sign). When arriving at the pool, we found 2 signs stating children under the age of 14 are not allowed to enter the Jacuzzi (spa) for "health and safety" reasons, which is a bunch of BS. Yet they allow children to enter the pool which is 8ft deep as long as the under 14 year old is supervised. I have never been to a place where children are not allowed in the jacuzzi. My son entered twice and twice I had to kindly remind him he was not allowed to go into the Jacuzzi. Also both times there were no other people at the pool, but family. Twice security came, claiming the residents are calling him saying there is a child in the jacuzzi. The first time I apologized, also stated they should have written those rules prior to us booking, or I would not have booked Kona Makai. The second time, the security yelled at me, stating he would fine us if my child entered the jacuzzi again, starting at $100, $200, up to $400 depending on how he felt. He stated residents were texting him pictures of my children and myself at the pool and jacuzzi. He then told me I could call my rental company and check out if I didn't like what he had to say. Meanwhile, I was speaking to him nicely, I did let him know his delivery was poor and stated once again, I would not have booked Kona Makai if I had known children under 14 could not enter the jacuzzi. and he chose to yell at me, stating thats not his problem I was approached later by two other families stating they didn't agree with how he handled the situation and heard it from their balconies. Do not stay here if you have children.

Excellent location, mostly quiet and relaxing

One loud mouth female guest across the way on the lanai that was determined to make herself known until the quiet hour. TV was difficult to figure out. Had to call in maintenance to fix the problem.
