Really nothing
Everything.
Rick the owner is a selfish and gassy person in my experience. After 5 minutes I was there, I just came from there to another hostel. I arrived and no one knew I was coming, the place was deserted and then I also discovered that there was no air conditioning. This is not a detail that I need to look for if there is or not but in 40 degrees heat, you have to write it down in BOLD that there is no air conditioning. Rick also told me that it's better not to be because it causes power outages in La Paz and who even comes in 40 degree heat? And he says this while he must be sitting to himself in the air-conditioned room of his house. I have never seen a person who treats his customers and guests with such disdain. In fact I did not stay there at all and asked for the money back. He didn't agree because he would lose money on me so I offered him 50 50 and that wasn't to his liking either and he just said he wasn't returning any money to me (and that's after he didn't make any effort to host or at all. I wasn't even at his place for 5 minutes because in fact he didn't even know I was coming ). He accused his manager of not knowing anything about it and not understanding that as an owner, he has to outline policies and manage his people. Just rude. Taking money from people, or rather, simply cheating them does not make you a manager. Not recommended at all!

communal facilities were good and kept clean and tidy.
the areas surrounding the buildings were attractively laid out and well maintained
my room had negligible hanging and storage space. I was lucky I had a spare bed to put things on.

Oscar and Isabel are perfect hosts. The kitchen, common areas and sleeping pods were clean. Excellent community space. Quiet at night, yet convenient location in town. Easy to walk around to everything. Chill vibe.
Met a bunch of cool peeps there. Kiters, Free Divers, Hang Gliding Pilots, Baja Bikers.
Pet Friendly.

We spent 1 night as we were going fishing the next day. It is a spectacular and charming place. The owner that set it up showed an obvious pride of ownership. La Ventanas has so much outdoor beauty to explore. Don't shy away from this place because it has hostel in the name. Make sure and look at all the photos of the place to make sure it is what you are looking for!

Very friendly staff, big kitchen and outdoor space, 5 min walk to the beach

Loved the kitchen setup: nice blender, coffee options, grill spacious counter space & fridge. Cute garden & seating area. Wetsuit rinse station and area to hang up wetsuits made it convenient. Super quiet except for the unexpected late night concert Friday through Saturday down the road.
Suggestion: maybe solar accent lights below the trees in the sitting area for night time instead of spotlight. It’ll bring out he beauty of the garden in the evening & still easy on the eyes.

Oscar was super kind! He posts a list of values in three languages. The elephant cactus in the courtyard is over 200 yrs old! I felt safe as solo traveler & the location is fabulous 5 min walk to Baja Joe’s.

nice outdoor area and kitchen, cool decor on the buildings. reasonably quiet, good value and close to beach
Cold at night, even sleeping in clothes - think should invest in actual duvets not just blankets! also some kind of rudimentary curtain for the windows to block light would be great.

This was a great find in La ventana. It's quietly tucked away whilst being minutes walk to the beach. Facilities are great, hot showers and strong, everything you need in a kitchen set up and the outdoor setting was beautiful. The rooms are spacious and beds comfortable too. Would definitely recommend staying here

You can really notice that the people behind the place is travellers themselves, the common areas are made to be shared. The owner Ricardo joined us for a nice chat in the kitchen. Loved the free coffee and the moka pot, the whole layout and the beautiful cactus garden. It's a place where you can stay for a long time and people do.
Would be nice with a table in the room.
