Monschau is very nice, worth a visit.
In the family room on the first floor, one of the beds was very saggy which was pretty uncomfortable. The wifi signal was pretty much non existant. The bread buns served at breakfast tasted like leftovers from the day before.
It's an old, authentic building. It surely has its charms. Be aware of the low ceilings with beams though or you'll bump your head (my wife is 1m76 and even she was at risk).
Reading other people's reviews it seems some were more lucky than we were. All I want to say is: Avoid the family room.

Very nice stay, very quiet place, the breakfast was also very good. Lots of stairs but no problem for us. No problem for the parking and it is a very good part of the city.
Noone for the check in or check out but it was not a problem, we received a message with the information.

Good breakfast, good location, nice atmosphere, very friendly staff.
No dislike actually, but two minor things that could be improved a bit: an extra blanket for a chilly spring night, and an entrance door outside reception hours requiring a bit less physical effort. Just saying.

Very suitable interior with Monschau's rustic atmosphere
Great location
The floor was tilted in way that you feel it while lying down in the bed

Very convenient and prime location in the old city. Efficient check-in and check-out, good quality of breakfast. It is value for money staying here for single or couple. 1 minute walk to the public parking.
It will be great if the towels are bit more soft. As same as other building in Monschau, it is old one so better to bring one more layer for sleeping if you staying in cold to warm seasons. Otherwise it's good.

Lovely location- pretty village, many visitors even in winter. Very handy to centre, walks and attractions. Quaint hotel - comfortable. Nice breakfast.
A lovely lively stream rushes right below the hotel ( but don’t book if you’re not keen on the noise )
A little chilly in the room but heaters adjustable. Arrival a bit tricky finding the door etc ( code via email ) No “in person” contact which was unexpected but ok.
Bathroom dated.
Parts of town closes early/ or is shut in winter, including restaurants - be warned and get in early!

The location is very good. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was basic but very nice.
When we arrived. The hotel was closed so we couldn't drop off our luggage. However. After calling the hotel, one of the staff came to the door and we were able to leave our luggage there.

Good location in Monschau, good breakfast. Characterful building - old.
Too many stairs. But that is because I'm ancient!

This place is amazing value! Old and creaky but full of character. Built over a rushing river. I thought it was brilliant!
Excellent breakfast
Room was on a bit of a slope but that's the oldness of it

Fabulous breakfast, comfy bed, great size room, location was excellent.
no one there at check in time to get key. Other waiting guests ask lady in shoo across road for owners phone number to book in

Excellent breakfast, convenient location, friendly staff and management and a very cosy, authentic place to stay.

We loooved the character of the building, low ceilings, old features, squeaky floors and wooden (sometimes indeed steep) stairs; the sound of the stream downstairs was so calming after a long, hot day of touristing around the town. Breakfast was plentiful, enough to keep us full for half a day. And the staff were super friendly and always helpful!
Our bathroom (room 24) was pretty tight and small (especially the shower), but with the doors kept open it was managable to dry myself after the shower :) Oh, and the bed could've been a bit bigger, but despite its size it was pretty comfy.

Property was perfect for me! Was better than expected at this price point. Location was great, restaurant was good, and the fact that there was a large tub in the solo room was a big seller!
Not the right fit for someone used to 4+ star hotels but if you’re willing to compromise perfection for a good price point this is the spot for you.

Location is really great, close to the Monschau Parkhaus where the bus stops and close to the old town. The staff was friendly and helpful. I stayed for a night with a friend and checked out at 11am in the morning, after the breakfast. We still wanted to see around, so we asked if we could leave our backpacks at the inn and they said yes. The breakfast was good. It was served at the restaurant table and ready before we went downstairs. So it wasn't a buffet, which was fine and we had enough to eat. The inn has an outside terrace where you can order food or simply drinks. The menu is not so big of an option, but you have fries, salad, soup, Pfannkuchen, burgers and a few big meals to select. Our room was #11, right on the small river the flows through the city. It felt so nice to hear the water flowing underneath. The inn is an old German building with no noise insulation, so if you're a light sleeper, bring your ear plugs and you'll be fine. At night you can hear some cars passing by. The wifi is good and there's TV in the room. Amenities, towels and two bottles of water were provided. The bathroom is small but the shower is big enough to move around comfortably. The bed was comfortable and the pilllows were a bit thin. Btw we didn't stay at weekend. Maybe that explains how we got a good price for the night, less than 70 euros. All in all I really enjoyed my stay at the inn. I can recommend it!
Because the inn is located at the small street leading to the old town, dust builds pretty quickly at some corners of the room. I liked the bed but thought the inn could replace the thin pillows with new ones.

The reception guy was very friendly, efficient. The location is also perfect, central, easy access to the parking lot, restaurants and everything else in the center
Rooms are awful. Smell old, look old, hunted and cheaply renovated with stuff that you'd find on the dumpster :( bathrooms are beyond disgusting. The pictures are highly misleading! Overall a bad experience, definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone ever.

The bedroom was lovely.
I didn't know that I had to pay 15 euros for the dog.

well located and the host could not have been nicer! our room was the cheapest but I peeped into two others (we were the only guests that midweek night). they were lovely and much bigger. well worth the 10€ price difference!
some very steep steps from our room to the outside door. I think these are not used when more guests are there. a much easier staircase leads to the restaurant.

The location and the old building
The price is a bit steep. The breakfast is very poor, warmed up rolls, cheap salami ,cold egg ,not much choice.

The room was nice, all you needed. Also the location was at a good spot in town. The check in / out was very easy. Nice breakfast!
The beds were a bit old and less comfy. We couldn't turn of the heater, so it was warm.
