My first experience with the text-based customer service went well. The WiFi was not working in the unit even after I did all the normal "tricks" to reset it. After texting the issue, TurnKey did send someone that day and the problem was resolved.
Where the experience went downhill was when I sent a text about how to handle our departure. We were due to check out at 10AM when Hurricane Elsa was expected/predicted to be making landfall in the Tampa/St. Pete area. Full disclosure...the weather pundits were wrong, Elsa stayed well offshore as it passed Tampa, and there was very little foul weather impact in the area.
I sent TurnKey customer service a text asking "can we somehow shelter in the condo association clubhouse until it is safe to travel to the airport" if the hurricane was hitting the island at our 10AM checkout time. I noted that the clubhouse had a keyed entry.
Response: We can feel your sentiments about this. This is certainlynot how we wanted you to have to spend your vacation. We are sorry but it looks like the departure time for this reservation is set to 10 AM. I am not able to extend that at this time. We humbly ask for your kind understanding. Again, our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience. Anything else I can help you with today?"
It seems obvious that the customer service must be based overseas and is not equipped to handle non-routine issues (like an impending hurricane).
