We arrived to the area around 3pm, and to our surprise, we received a text message saying that our unit was clean and available for an early check-in. We entered the early check-in code given to us via text and the unit was filthy, had several cleaners still inside, and was not close to being ready. We came back an hour and a half later and the condo was clean, but empty beer and coke cans were still left outside all around the patio/grill area and wet towels were left in the washer. The condo location is great. It’s easy access to the beach with a pedestrian bridge and elevators. We loved the bay side with the lazy river, waterfall pool, and private dock to fish from in the evenings. Pros: -Great location in Fort Walton -Condo has the perfect location within the property -Great for families with kids -Large master bedroom and bathroom Cons: -Dirty hot tub didn’t work -Main sliding glass door not working properly -Phone communication with property manager is lacking, hot tub and sliding glass door were never fixed during our stay -Communication through VRBO to property manager is nonexistent. -Beach is completely monopolized & crowded by La Dolce Vita chair/umbrella rental company. They make it impossible to bring your own beach chairs/canopy and find a spot to use them. Basically you are not allowed to use your own stuff on the Destin West property. You’ll have to walk down the beach to a different area. Overall we enjoyed our vacation but were very disappointed about the hot tub and wasting vacation time to call every day with no results. The main reason we booked this property was for the private hot tub access on our deck. We spent a lot of time at the bayside pools which were clean and well kept, but the monopolized beach was disappointment.

My sister and I choose this property based on our own check list. This is nestled between Destin and Pensacola which offer so much between all the locations. The property was well maintained and while we were there were performing fire alarm checks which was nice to see that they care about safety. The pools were amazing though we used the main pool and there are 2 other pools. The lazy river was nice, cold but a nice feature. The property had everything we needed to cook meals, pack for a day at the beach or relax at the condo. The condo had its private hot tub which was so nice to have and conveniently. The only complaint was one of the community hottubs wasn't working with the jets werent working. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and just what we needed to get away.

The condo was great and had all the items needed to stay for a week. If I had to say anything negative.....sheets are rough and only 2-1/2 rolls of tp for a family of 6. Otherwise we liked it alot!

The coffee pot carafe didn’t fit the machine and it didn’t latch at the top to make the coffee drop down. When we first used it, some of the coffee tried to drip and ended up covering the counter top. So to have the coffee drop, someone has to stand and literally hold the pot up against the top of the maker for it to work. We also didn’t like that the owner has the AC on a hold to where it couldn’t be set lower than 70 after 10 pm and lower than 72 during the day. Everything else was fine but I would suggest bringing your own knives, pans to cook with as the knives were not sharp enough to even cut a tomatoes and the pans weren’t great . The stove was tricky since all the markings have been wiped off over time. Overall the condo was nice and these little things would not be a deal breaker for returning however we have stayed at other condos and have had better experiences with these little things.

I've stayed at this resort before and this room was so much better than the other room along with the communication from the owner. I would highly recommend this condo. It was super convenient to be on the 1st floor so that we could walk right out of our room to the pool area. When you have young kids this is even more convenient. We will definitely be back and we plan to stay in this same condo.

My family and my parents very much enjoyed our time at this condo. We came into town to visit my sister and her family bc they just had a baby. It was a perfect spot for us to gather while the kids and adults could enjoy the pools! I have teenagers and elementary aged kids and they all enjoyed the pools and beach. I loved that we could easily walk out to the pool right from the back door. We never felt crowded in the place and we had a total of 8 people sleeping here. I would recommend this listing and would come back for another trip. Thank you for everything!

Highly recommend this condo! So much space and room to move! With 9 people staying in the condo, we had plenty of sleeping area and places to sit. The balcony had so much space and the hot tub made it so nice with all the rain for the kids! We will be back!

We also decided to stay at a place with our own hot tub and grill for easy access. Hot tub was great, grill was a let down. Only one burner worked and was barely useable. Put in a maintenance request and we were able to swap it out for a spare. The oven was an issue too. When trying to bake anything, it would lock, and completely turn off until cooled. Although the grill issue was handled, it was a let down to have to deal with these issues after spending a little more money to stay in a place with the extra amenities. The couch was lacking any pillows so feeding a baby or having kids lay down, they needed their bedroom pillows. The floors were VERY dirty. I wish I would have brought my mop. It left all our feet black after walking on it, especially in the bedrooms. This is our 4th time staying at Destin West and we absolutely love it there.

The lanai level room at this resort is the best. You look out into a tropical Oasis both day and night. Being steps from the best amenities is a huge perk and having a private hot tub was the icing on the cake.

Local officials strongly urged we evacuate the area due to expected extreme storm surge. Due to the safety of my family we packed up immediately, emailed the same address the situation and that we would be departing by 10am (1day early) and requested a refund for the last night. No response. I emailed again assuming your resort was busy recovering from the storm and was told “we don’t do refunds for early departure”. I understand this, but the storm was expected to be severe and we would have been departing when the hurricane made landfall. I responded back further explaining my situation. No response. I then posted a review on google and received a response telling me that you do in fact provide refunds for natural disasters. I attempted to reach out once again through two avenues to see if I could receive a refund. Nothing. Needless to say, I’m incredibly furious with the lack of understanding and customer service I was given.

We had a great week unwinding during this crazy time. The condo, was great. Our only issue was the fridge but they were very responsive and helpful in getting us a cooler with ice. We had to eat in bc all restaurants being closed so we had a lot of groceries and the cooler wasn’t ideal but it kept most important things cool. I highly recommend staying here and hopefully we will be back soon!

Back door of unit is just a few steps from the lazy river and swimming pools. This works out great, especially for kids. The kitchen is well equipped, and the management staff were super flexible and responsive.

The property had everything we needed for our family to enjoy a comfortable stay in Fort Walton Beach. The property was clean, and the kitchen was well-supplied to cook for our large family of 10, including crockpot, heavy-bottomed pots and skillets, grilling utensils, blender, toaster, coffee maker and keurig. There was enough seating for us all to eat as well, though some of us often dined on the patio. We had every amenity we needed, including a pack-n-play and high chair. There were plenty of bath towels, and a starter supply of soaps and paper goods. Easy access to the pools from this unit was a major plus with kids. The lazy river and connected pool were too cold for me, but the heated pools and hot tub were very comfortable in the cooler weather of early March--we spent a lot of time swimming, even in 65-degree weather. Access to the beach via the bridge was easy enough once we figured out the way. We also enjoyed a family movie night with the large screen TV. All-in-all, a great unit, and we would return again!
