House was great, very clean. Located on a busy street with lots of businesses like car repair shops. Took off a star because the driveway gate would not lock. Be advised that if you open the driveway window in the bedroom furthest away from the street that an alarm may go off.

We needed a space close to Berkeley, in a reasonable price range, where we would have room for my daughter’s things for move-in at college. While it met this need, we chose to find alternative accommodations for sleeping for the second two nights of our stay. The “house” is actually behind a closed store front giving the house an odd and disjointed floor plan. The description of the listing as “cheerful” was not met. Additionally, on either side of the house are abandoned buildings. If you are not looking to spend a lot of time at the property or have a low need for a pleasant aesthetic, this would work for you, but my family didn’t feel safe or comfortable.

This property was perfect for 3 of us. It was in a safe area with plenty of food close by. It was a good base for our trip that included San Francisco, Oakland, and Monterey. The back yard was a nice area to go sit in the evenings and enjoy the weather.

This is a good place to stay for more than 2 people. It was just two of us, but it worked well. It is on a very noisy street and in a bit of a run down area, but the property itself is relatively well maintained, although very old. Despite the slightly seedy location (some trashy, graffiti marked vacant buildings) the security is excellent. Ample kitchen is pretty well stocked with dishes, pots, cutlery etc. we had to purchase paper towels, paper napkins and facial tissue as it is not provided. Immediate location aside, it is very walkable to a park, University Avenue and some small restaurants. Bed was comfortable and bathroom adequate. The apartment is located above a (vacant) retail shop, and currently the entry is through the shop, although there is a back entrance as well.
It was fine for our stay and walking distance to our family. Phan was very helpful when we had a bit of difficulty with one of the security doors.

Arriving at night did not do this place any favors. It's behind a gate that's too close to the door, making it difficult to enter. We entered through the front door, which brings you in to a former business office/storage room, which confused us for a minute. The house is up a half-flight of stairs in the back.
The house itself was actually fine. Roomy, and recently remodeled, it has some strange layout issues, but it is an old building. The newly remodeled bathrooms were very nice, and it was great having an extra one downstairs.
Location-wise, the house is well situated to everything in Berkeley, as well as the freeways and BART. It looks a little rundown, but was quiet and felt safe overall. The house is in a mixed commercial/residential area on a main road, but it backs up to neighborhoods, and the road was quiet at night, even on the weekend.
Parking was always easy to find right around the corner on the residential street.

Not exactly what we were expecting but a very clean and pleasant place. Picture of the house is from the rear and front of house is different with graffiti on fence. 2nd bathroom is in the downstairs front area of the house but is nice. Phat was helpful and very available for any questions or issues.

House was great!! Location was also good. The neighborhood was a little sketchy at night, but not terrible. The outside fence was a pain bc there wasn’t much room between the fence and door so they hit each other every time entering, but that’s was just a minor inconvenience. Overall, it was really good and we’d stay here again!!

Overall it was fine. There were several things that were troublesome but not really problematic, such as operating some of the doors, the appliances were dated but not badly, and the furniture has seen better days (some old, some damaged)
That being said, the location was good, the price was reasonable for the area, and the bathroom was nice.
While it wasn't a bad stay and Phat was a very responsive host, I would look elsewhere for my next trip to Berkeley.

The property was clean. The roominess was more than adequate for the three of us. The purpose of the stay was to visit family in the area. Thus, our time in the VRBO was not so much.
Local family members commented that we should be aware of our surroundings due to the location of the VRBO. We never felt uncomfortable in the area; but most of our time was spent at the home of our family.
This property is located on a main street; but the street noise was very minimal. The host was very kind to advise us that parking was available on the side street nearby.
I had some questions for the host and they were very prompt to respond and answered my questions completely.
The next time we are in the area we will definitely check their availability to see if it matches our schedule.

Lucky cleaning lady was still there when we arrived. Keys were in a lock box attached to a chair outside. She pointed that out. Will take own skillets next time. Everything else was wonderful. Grandson in college there and probably will stay there again to see him.

We stayed at the home for my childs college visit. The directions to the house and parking were fantastic. The house is roomy and clean, very comfortable beds.

Fun little place. Adequate parking in a place known for having slim options. Near many great places to eat for all meal times. Clean interior. Very nice back yard area with plenty of seating. A great option if you want to be near San Fransisco, but not stuck in San Francisco traffic.

Our family had a nice stay in the house. It was convenient to several restaurants and the Berkeley bowl grocery store.
The house had all supplies needed for a comfortable stay.
It was convenient to have two bathrooms. One bathroom was on the ground level and it was convenient to the bathrooms separated to cut down on the sound so the small children could sleep. We would stay here again if we are in Berkeley.

Very pleasant accommodations that are surprisingly private. Paved back yard area, nice kitchen and living room. Two nice bedrooms. Owner is very pleasant and responsive. There are some air fresheners, for those who are sensitive to that.

Had all the needed amenities for our visit, including washer and dryer and AC. Evening parking out front was always available. Shower pressure and beds were good and comfortable. We did not spend time in the home during the day or for meals due to nature of our visit. A great value overall and a convenient location to access many areas by car. We also enjoyed the neighborhood breakfast spot next door.

This property was immaculate and very comfortable. It is within walking distance to restaurants etc. We were a group of three and appreciated the comfortable chairs and couch in the living room and four chairs at the dining room table. I suggest the owner add a few hooks in the bathroom to hang a robe, toiletry bag, etc.
The directions for parking and entering the house were clear and accurate.

This 2BR/2Bath house in SW Berkeley was a great home base for 2 couples attending a wedding. Walking distance to Berkeley Bowl, a fabulous grocery store, as well as Caffe Chiave and Cali Alley, a nice, tucked away restaurant with wonderful chicken waffles. The house is very secure and the owner is extremely prompt with communication. Checkout was the easiest of any house we've rented.

From the start, Phat was extremely easy to communicate with and quick to answer any questions and respond to my unique needs for my family travelling cross country for a graduation. The home was very clean and well stocked. The updated kitchen, laundry room, one floor living, large outdoor space, and easy free parking made our stay very comfortable. Thanks to Phat!

This property was a great place to stay while visiting Berkeley. The home was quiet despite being located on a very busy street. The beds were comfortable and the temperature was easy to control to our liking. The kitchen was well stocked to make meals in house. And the property’s proximity to Berkeley Bowl grocery shopping was great. The cafe right next store made for a good option for breakfast. Finding the correct entrance was tricky but the host was very responsive to messages in the App and helped us work out any problems. We would definitely stay her again on another visit.

The homeowner was very responsive and answered my questions in a timely manner. The apartment was clean and contained linens and kitchen supplies. The washer and dryer were a great addition for us all. There was a nice open outside area in the back of the apartment. Great location and Berkely Bowl marketplace was within easy walking distance.

Property inside was immaculate and well equipped, a charming older home. Beds were super comfortable. However the neighborhood was non inspiring with many business/shops closed. Nothing available for a quick walk to pick up anything needed. House was surrounded by a high fence and two security doors which was great but left one with the feeling of uneasinesses. The photo listed is of the rear of the house and quite different than the front. The residential neighborhood in the area was very pretty.

The house is great, it’s in a strategic position with everything you’ll need already provided by the host. Inside it’s very cute and there’s also a nice courtyard where you can enjoy the warm sunlight. The host is a very kind person, always ready to help out and has provided all the information we needed. Unfortunately we had to leave the house early due to family reasons and the host has immediately refund us. Overall we had a great time.
