Great location very clean. Perfect size for our family. Fit all of our needs during our stay.

My wife, our puppy and I stayed for three nights. The house was clean and everything we hoped for. The location was close to downtown and many cool historic houses & sites. The host was attentive and responsive.

The owners thought of every little detail at this house. We were very comfortable and the furnishings were beautiful. The kitchen was well equipped. The dishwasher is not full size so if you plan to cook a lot bring paper plates. We enjoyed our stay and would rent again!

A charming little house, one of the oldest in New Bern. The location sits in the Beer-muda triangle (super close to three local breweries) with easy access to downtown. Great communications with the owner.

The Alston-Charlotte Cottage in New Bern was wonderful! Great property, every amenity you need, great location with an easy walk to town. Great brew pubs in the neighborhood. So close to everything - can’t say enough about how nice it was!.

We have stayed in VRBOs for years, and we have never seen such care given to every detail in a home! From the Keurig machine and bottled smart water in the master suite to the meticulously-prepared binder of salient information in the living room, the home was deliberately prepared to be welcoming and comfortable. There were plenty of pillows, towels, and kitchen supplies (which I appreciate so much as someone who has to cook nearly every meal due to food intolerances). The phonograph and records were a nice touch which we all enjoyed! The house itself is charming and beautifully decorated and is situated in the perfect location. The backyard was cozy and inviting. The hosts even supplied white noise machines to add to their guests' comfort. I cannot say enough about this adorable cottage, which is also much more affordable than nearly every VRBO we have every stayed in! Thank you for a lovely stay!

The property was one of the prettiest we have ever visited in our experiences with VRBO. The historic charm of this 1700’s era home has been preserved in the beautiful and modern restoration of the property. The premises was spotless, both inside and out. The decor was beautiful, and the large master bedroom on the upper level of the home is enchanting. The king bed was so comfortable and was supplied with high end linens and the adjacent sitting area was so lovely. The large master bath has a large tiled walk in shower and was wonderful. The kitchen and living room are both located on the main level of the home and has everything you need, including an added bonus of coffee beans, grinder, and a french press. The kitchen is so well designed and has been supplied with first class amenities and decor. The living room is cozy and the fireplace with remote controlled logs is also so cozy and relaxing. The property is so convenient to restaurants and shopping, and the riverwalk and Tryon Palace is just a short walk away. We would highly recommend this home away from home for any couple looking for a fairytale escape!

We have stayed at several VROBs and this is definitely among our favorites. Everything about the house and the yard was perfect! The host had thought of everything that provide convenience, entertainment, relaxation and comfort. The only complaint was location as it was a little further walk to the shops and restaurants than we were expecting. However, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.

Went down to New Bern from Pgh to spend Christmas holiday. We have been thinking of moving to New Bern for a while and after this visit I hope to be able to do that really soon. Beautiful friendly town and very accessible to do anything. The house was so charming and comfortable- and well stocked with everything you need for your stay. Very short ( 2 min walk) into town so we walked everywhere- our car never left the driveway. I will definitely come back,- the area behind us was a bit noisy though- but I brought my noise machine so it masked a lot of the noise. Beautiful house and enjoyed the backyard and deck. Thank you. My mother and I enjoyed our stay. My daughter in law and granddaughter live nearby and it was a perfect place to stay. We walked downtown for shopping and meals. Very convenient to many places in New Bern. The house was decorated so cute and quaint. Very comfortable, clean house! Loved it!

The overall perfection of this place was beyond expectations. Host had anything and everything that could ever be needed or wanted. Setup was amazing. If we were gonna live in a city, the house would be what we would want. Very clean, well stocked and perfect. Need a pack n play, they have it, bringing pets, they have everything needed for them as well. Teenagers we had even loved it and you know teenagers are hard to please. Short walk to downtown, nice neighborhood and friendly neighbors. Thank you

We absolutely LOVED the Alston Charlotte house!! Such a cute place and a short walk to so much dining and night life! We all said we would stay again in a minute! The house and set up was super easy, check in and out was a breeze and everything was so ready and available…down to coffee and basics to do a quick load of laundry! We enjoyed every minute of our stay even through a tropical storm! Y’all, stay at the Alston Charlotte!! You will not regret it!

We stayed for a weekend to check out New Bern and all the historic homes and buildings. This home has been beautifully decorated to a very high standard . Every little detail has been thought out to make your stay more comfortable. We loved having our morning coffee in the pretty back garden whilst our two dogs enjoyed pottering about . The house was immaculate and a real joy to call our home for the weekend . We will definitely be back .

Alston-Charlotte Cottage is a great little place. It has a lot of charm and is nicely outfitted. The main level is confortable and the kitchen has everything one could want. The cottage is equipped with top shelf appliances, fixtures, and furniture throughout. The master bedroom and bathroom are spacious beyond their physical size. The owners have done an excellent job in using the space they have to provide a luxious area. The only downside to this cottage for us was the lack of a powder room on the main level. There is no way to add this given the cottage's layout and size. Going up or down a flight a stairs to find a toilet was inconvenient, but certainly not even close to a deal breaker. We recommend this cottage for a couple's or small family get away in a great small NC town that has it's own charm!

This unique historical home was the perfect stay for our week in New Bern. One would never know the home was built in mid-1700’s. So many little details and amenities were thought out by the hosts. Each room had special touches - bathrooms had extras you may have forgotten, other rooms had books about New Bern, games and electronic cords, Keurig and seating area in master, and even dogs bowls and toys for the pooches! Kitchen had everything you could possibly need and more. Beds were comfortable. Communication from host was great. Food & coffee within a block. (Definitely try Crema Brew!) Downtown was a quick 4 blocks, 2 to mansion and trolley. Safe area and neighbors were friendly. Friday and Saturday nights were hoping with activities from the restaurants adjacent but it did not hinder our sleep or privacy. Lovely backyard and again, perfectly thought out with chairs, table, hammock and lights. I would definitely stay here again next time we’re in town.

What a perfect house! This property had everything we were looking for - it was so clean, lots of amenities, great location, lovely backyard, and plenty of room for us. The property manager is also amazing and was so easy to work with. If I could give ten stars I would!

My partner and I had a wonderful time on our short visit to New Bern. The house was very nice and clean, well-stocked and had everything we needed. So many thoughtful touches, like bottled water in the refrigerator, night lights, comfortable bedding, noise machines, extra chargers and more. Close to downtown so we were able to walk everywhere. Communcation with the owner was seamless. The only negative was the traffic and the noise from the breweries close by. There was a beer festival on the Saturday night we were there, so I know that would not be a usual occurence but there was definitely more loud traffic than we expected. However, the house was so nice and the back porch was lovely that we would not hesitate to stay again!

The house exceeded our expectations. The house was beautifully decorated, very clean and a neat part of history. The location is great! Easy walk to several restaurants and breweries. The back yard was great for our dogs. We felt as if the world around us melted away and we were in a lil piece of heaven. Highly recommend this house. We will be back!!

Exceptional furnishings and decor...gleaming with cleanliness and charm...great location for downtown walking and sightseeing...breweries nearby...accommodates up to four people...on a busy corner, but convenience of cottage wins...thoroughly enjoyed our stay as we explored the New Bern Area...

This beautiful cottage looks even better in person. Private setting. Adorable decor & finishes. Pristine clean. The hosts provided helpful details up front and responded quickly to questions. We loved being so close to Tryon Palace and downtown New Bern. I didn't notice from the photos that the fenced yard area is not fully enclosed, but it was still a great space for our 2 pups. Would love to come back and enjoy the outdoor space more & go biking in the summer. Exceptionally happy with our stay and look forward to visiting again. Thank you for being great hosts. 5+ stars.

The cottage was terrific! So clean and well stocked with everything you need for an enjoyable stay! From the comfy owners suite, to a cozy living area, great porch and bikes available for your use, it was a wonderful get-away! Within walking or biking distance to Tryon Palace, multiple pubs and restaurants as well as the waterfront area. The owner was extremely responsive and accommodating. Will definitely recommend this fantastic home!

House is historic with modern updates. Nice furnishings and kitchen. Beds are comfortable. Nicely landscaped back yard. Owner is very responsive. Will definitely repeat when we go back to New Bern.
