This was such a cute and charming hotel stay and that it overlooks the market square and is steps away from the Cathedral is a bonus! We had a wonderful time, the staff were so helpful. We will certainly stay there again and recommend it to others!

Very nice hotel right in the centre of town in the main square. The staff were extremely welcoming and it is obvious this is not a chain hotel, but one where the staff really care about the comfort of their guests. The room was a good size and reasonably well appointed. A decent desk and chair was helpful as I did have some work to do. The wifi was adequate for video calls and all my needs. Breakfast was in the attached restaurant and was very good, although there was a limited choice of hot food options (eggs where great though). Definitely a good choice for tourists or business.

Beautiful "romantic suite" room overseeing the cathedral square. The food at the restaurant is delicious. Do NOT follow the instructions on Google Maps to the hotel. Instead, use the directions that the hotel sends ahead of time for parking and location. You'll save yourself a lot of trouble.

An older but charming hotel. Could use some updating and more modern touches, but still very comfortable. Great location in the heart of the old town. Convenient to the efficient tram, and walkable to the train station in case the tram happens to be shut down by a protest of some sort (very rare, but yes, that happened to us). BTW, the hotel operations changed hands Dec. 1, 2022. We happened to meet and chat with the new owner, who also has some other fine properties in town. Seems like a very nice and very competent guy.

Perfect location, classy accommodation. The only drawback is that the hotel doesn't actually face onto the Cathedral Square. It's located in the rear of the building which overlooks the square. Access to the square is via a narrow lane near the hotel entrance.

We stayed for 2 nights and got in troubles second evening. The front door is closing 10 pm. You have to use a code, it did not work. I and my daughter were locked out. We were lucky, a couple of guest heard us and let us in. The day after the reception told us they had a emergency number, no one had mentioned that when we checked in. Actually a poor check in. Welcome present? No, remove that information from
Hotels website. We do no recommend!

Fantastic hotel at which I had a wonderful stay. Great location, very friendly staff, excellent food and very comfortable and immaculately clean room. I stayed there a week and could not have been made to feel more welcome. I have highly recommend to stay here if staying Freiburg or the Black Forest, I will definitely will make a return visit.

Hotel Oberkirch is perfectly located in the Altstadt in Freiburg. Our stay at Hotel Oberkirch was the perfect end to our Europe vacation. Brilliant view of the Munster, very comfortable bed and the service from all staff was beyond excellent. The breakfast was exceptional and the food was so good we had a lunch and a dinner in the restaurant.

We upgraded our room at a very reasonable rate to have a Cathedral view and it was well worth it and the room was HUGE and had so much character. The daily market opens up in the morning just outside. We ate at the restaurant twice and it was very good. The breakfast was very good as well. Highly recommend for a unique place to stay.

Our room looked directly onto the cathedral and the platz which was wonderful. The hotel is very convenient to the Alt Stadt. The front desk staff was very helpful and pleasant, and parking was very convenient.

Great hotel in a very very central locations. Great breakfast, can be taken on the terrace facing the Freiburg Münster (main church). Also a delight for dinner, very good restaurant.

Sadly our room smelt of smoke. Disappointing considering we selected a superior room. Our bedroom window was above the little courtyard which is where we think the kitchen staff cam out for a smoke which ended up in our room as we sleep with the window open

The location is great. Our room looked out over Munster Plaza. The food in the restaurant was very good. It is centrally located with public transportation within easy walking distance.

Beautiful old hotel in the historical centre of town. The hotel was very difficult to drive to, and we weren't sent any guidance to assist but when we called the hotel, the staff were amazing - guiding us in by phone then taking our car away to park it for us. Wifi was barely adequate but I suspect that is more about old buildings than a lack of effort.
