Great choice of food, they have their own indian restaurant within the hotel or pub food in the bar. The building is a bit tired looking but the friendly staff make up for that.
Had a good nights sleep which is the main thing.

Peaceful and comfortable. Lovely stay.

Very good for the money but needs updating
8.0
The rooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable and adequately equipped. The hotel staff all friendly and accommodating. The place is old, and has seen better days but that doesn't adversely affect a good night's sleep. Breakfast was so-so. Not bad. But all in all, yes it was fine. No problems with it.

Very friendly staff. Good enough for overnight stay

Perfect for our visit to Knebworth house. Nice room, comfortable bed, plus all usual facilities

On booking I was sent a welcoming email telling me about the hotel and its restaurant.
On arrival I was told the restaurant had been closed for some weeks!! No dinner, no breakfast! I am seeking a refund

The property was not worth the money.
We’ve stayed in Premier Inns and Travel lodges for far less cost which are far better.
The restaurant was not open. The garden areas needed work on. Could be made to look lovely.
Very dark areas especially around the bar.
Toilet didn’t flush properly.
The shower whilst working needed a good descale.
Radiator wasn’t working so had to use a portable heater whilst we were showering and getting dressed.
The receptionist was helpful.
Certainly not value for money.
Felt that we were definitely overcharged.
Would not choose to stay there again unless they brought down the price and give the building and grounds some very serious TLC

Very nice stay. Quite a long walk to the rooms but very quiet despite being next to the road. Good choice of food and lovely breakfast

I had a good overnight stay. It was convenient and the staff were helpful.

Came down for a family gathering, roebuck was reasonably priced , clean and staff friendly and helpful, could do with a refurb as it looked tired in places but for what we needed it was ok.

Room were clean and a good size, staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again

The staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival and thats were the good bit ends. The hotel can best be described as stuck in the 70's and was probably last decorated and maintained back then. The bathroom had tiles falling off, limescale on the taps, sink and bath. Mould in the grout and silicon, which is easily removable.
The worst part was for 2 nights running the fire alarm went off multiple times, so no sleep for 2 days, their response sorry. The room was £90 per night for room only, it wasnt worth £45. Hotels.com really should inspect their hotels before they allow them on their site. Do not stay at this hotel, you'd be better off sleeping in your vehicle.

It was so dirty and dark we did not stay. The mattress and sheet were badly stained the carpet was filthy and the bathroom facilities old and cracked. We refused to stay in that room.
The second room was no better it only had one small wall light working was dirty and had a huge plant trying to get in the window so there wasno fresh air in 30 degree heat. The room was so dark we had to use the torch on our phone to see.
We asked to book breakfast for both mornings of our stay but we’re told we could only book for the first day, they were not sure if it would be available on the second morning,
We advised the management we would not be staying and wanted a refund due to the awful conditions. We were told they would see what had to be done.

Our one night visit was very comfortable and the welcome was superb from all reception staff

The staff were very friendly and accepted our Amex cards, which is usually quite rare in smaller independent inns/ hotels. The food and service were very good and reasonably priced and I had a good night's sleep despite the busy road adjacent, which eventually quietened down around 10:30.

We were so disappointed with our experience at the Roebuck Inn. The staff at the bar & reception were friendly & welcoming. However, the actual room (room 102) totally let Roebuck Inn down. When opening the curtains on our arrival all I could see out of the window was a thick growth of bramble - you could not see the garden. The window frame and windows were dirty with a mass of thick cobwebs on the top part of the window sill. This density of cobwebs would take months to amass. The carpet in the bedroom area was badly stained and the bathroom had wall tiles falling off. The bathroom was very dated, and looked like work had been carried out on it at least 30 years prior by an unprofessional builder! Our friends also had a room and theirs was also sub standard with a leak in the bathroom and the remnants of a nursing home hoist track still in the ceiling. I can not comment on the restaurant and food as we did not eat in, choosing to use the nearby Toby Inn. The corridor to the rooms were bland, with short net curtains & a few private doors along this corridor had curled up, dirty mats in front of the doors - definite trip hazards. The garden areas had also been allowed to become run down & unkempt with overgrown shrubs. I believe more attention has been attributed to the Care Home attached to Roebuck Inn. We booked this Inn as other local hotels had been taken over by the government. I feel really sad that this beautiful building has been allowed to become rundown.

I liked their service the staff were very helpful

Tired looking room and only cleanish. The bathroom smelled and there was a bottle top on the floor by the bed that didn't belong to me. The shower pressure and temperature was decent enough and I could see there was work going on to redecorate some of the rooms - which is soely needed.
Overall not a place I'd opt to stay in again, if there was a choice, but not bad enough to avoid if there's nowhere else.

I got to the hotel at 1.00pm, I wanted to leave my case as check in was at 2.00pm, couldn't believe it the hotel was shut.
The room was dirty, the bath hadn't been cleaned, the shower mat was back underneath and toilet flush was broken.
In the bedrrom/lounge stains on the wall, holes in the curtain and only a little oil heater for warmth.
Checkout day I went to remove the duvet cover of the duvet and oh my goodness the stains on the duvet was completely disgusting!
I paid £139.00 for two nights and I needed a third night but I went to the Holiday Express which cost me £55.00 and it was like staying at the Ritz.
I don't like to complain but it was an experience I will never forget!

Very clean and well equipped more than adequate

Pleasant staff and decent bedding - However room had a broken sliding panel system covering windows, that you could see daylight out of
No food on a Sunday so had to eat off site
Smell of damp throughout
You get what you pay for and it was reasonably cheap, although guy who booked in before me paid £14.00 less for room next to mine?

I've stopped here a few times but this was the worst stay due to my room being in a WiFi black spot. I couldn't connect to the WiFi provided, my devices couldn't find the correct WiFi so I had to use my own data to access the internet.

I stayed for 4 nights due to being on a training course in Welwyn Garden City, so just a 15 minute drive away. Indian restaurant within the Inn which i did have one evening & was very nice. Lady that owns the Roebuck was very nice & helpful. The only negative comment i will make is that the place could do with a little make over. But it served its purpose. I think it is used mainly for business stop overs.

Central location, but very musty and damp smell in the room. The bathroom needed a lot of refurbishment, the taps and fittings very corroded . Light fitting in room broken .
Service was very friendly, and helpful just a shame the room let things down
8.0
Charming building and very friendly welcome at reception.
However, the room looked about 40 years out of date and DESPERATELY needs modernisation.
We spent £76 on a room that in the condition it was in I would not expect to pay more than £35.

The service was outstanding nothing was to much to ask

This is the third time I've stopped here and although it was better than my last stop (dripping shower head) I had a couple of issues. 1st there was no tea spoon in the room to allow me to make a brew. 2nd the internet connectivity to the room (134) was very weak, good in the corridor but kept dropping out in the room

Well book in was OK bar restaurant good up to date....... But Accommodation was art deco 70s bathroom ceiling poor condition tapes on bath carpets in hallway musty.
Had view of skip through bedroom window.
This place has massive potential if more investment was made. OK stop over no more than that. Plus side staff friendly ok

Low water pressure for shower

Good value for what I paid for the room. The fixtures and fittings were a bit dated.

A quirky, friendly hotel with history attached to it. Rooms were clean and so quiet. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. We ate in the restaurant on both nights. Fish and chips were were lovely. Curry the 2ndnight was fabulous. Very grateful to our waitress for her advice on the strength of the curry.
Have booked to stay again and will be eating there again.
Thank you
