This hotel was very special as it is not very often you get to stay in a castle on it's own 'island'! Our room was very spacious with a good bathroom. The hotel itself is thoroughly modern but with all the old character in place. The wifi did not work very well or very quickly, but this could be down to the stone walls. There is a lift to the town to save tired legs and the town is very chic with lots of amenities for water based activities, shopping or eating. The hotel restaurant was excellent, probably the best meal we have eaten, but quite expensive. The restaurant for both breakfast and meals is in another ancient building. The hotel can arrange all sorts for you to do and has its own beach, but we did not go to it on our short visit. There is also it's own private park to explore, or just sit and enjoy the views of the bay.

Truly fantastic hotel. Sestri Levante is a great place but this is just ever so slightly secluded perched on its own rock above the bay. The result is absolutely incredible views, a private beach to enjoy at your leisure, great restuarants on the doorstep... I really love to explore when I go on holiday and this was the one place that we stayed in tuscany/liguria where we didnt see the need to go too far, it was so beautiful.

The private spa/bathing area was subject to a high daily charge. the terrace on the Hotel upper floor was a disgrace for a Hotel of this standard . Level changes and lack of accesible and safe swimming facilities make it less suitable for young children

Stay in an incredible castle with a great restaurant, with great service for a price that seems too low.

What an incredible hotel, completely underrated. We were not sure on booking what to expect but all of our expectations were well and truly surpassed. The staff were very friendly to us from the moment we stepped in the door. Our room was great - we stayed in the Old Castle, and had great views out to sea. If you stay at this hotel you must take the opportunity to walk the grounds. After spending a day in more touristy areas it was a sanctuary! The private coastal path gave views to rival the Cinque Terre and the private sea/piscina area allowed us a sun lounger directly on the seafront. We will be back!

Great location above the bay. The girls in the checkin were very friendly and accommodating. Our room in the newer wing was fantastic, great view and very roomy. We were in Italy for more than 3 weeks and this hotel had the best breakfast (included in room cost) one could expect anywhere. The kitchen cappuccinos (upon request) will not disappoint you.

A unique experience at an affordable price in a fantastic hotel with beautiful sea views and very welcoming staff. The room in the castle building was stunning with beautiful furniture and antiques and the communal areas even more amazing! The grounds are absolutely amazing and so quiet with beautiful coastal paths and fantastic gardens with views to die for!

Wonderful hotel! Our only suggestion is that the private beach be included in the price of the nightly hotel stay. This is a high quality, luxury hotel and advertised the private beach in a way that implied its use was included in the price. We were shocked when asked to pay for it at check-out. Otherwise, the breakfast buffet was fantastic and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

We stayed here for a week. The hotel is in the most amazing setting with its own gardens and private beach, looking out over the sea and the old town. Staff were all really friendly and helpful. Breakfasts on the terrace overlooking the bay were delicious! The only minor niggles were that we were surprised at having no iron or kettle in the room but the fact we were staying in a castle more than compensated for this.

Very nice Hotel in a fantastic location. Restaurant is excellent and benefits from amazing views and professional service. The room was clean, quiet and of decent size. Private beach and parc are a strong plus. Sestri Levante is delightful and while there are probably other hotel options worthy of consideration, the Castelli is a great choice for those who love history, charme and quality food. Highly recommended

This was a one night stop for us and we wish we had stayed the weekend. The town is so beautiful and the hotel is phenomenal. We especially loved the terraces and views as well as the elevators to town and the private beach. We are definitely coming back when in Italy!

Bit reluctant to promote this hotel, as it's such a great secret. Recommend for sightseeing in the area, walking, shopping. Train service really good along this coast. Hotel is full of character, staff warm and welcoming, but unobtrusive, comfy room and huge bathroom. Yummy food too.

We loved our room with a sea view and the cliff path walk in the hotel grounds. The staff were really helpful and friendly and looked after us when we had a medical emergency.

Sestri Levante is a very special place to visit but throw in the Grand Hotel Dei Castelli and it's perfect. Everything about the hotel is right. The staff were wonderful in every respect. The public rooms were light and spacious with magnificent pieces of furniture and pictures all spotlessly clean. The bedroom was large and well appointed with great attention to detail and cleanliness. The grounds are very extensive with a magnificent walk round the headland. There are lots of different terraces by the sea to relax on and access a very clear blue sea. The dining room overlooked the bay and the food was just very special and at a very good price. EXCELLENT in all respects

We absolutely loved our time here. A beautiful castle perched above the sea and the most charming town on the Italian Riviera. Wonderful views and food at the restaurant as well, including at breakfast. Only imperfection is that wifi is a bit spotty. Would love to return.

The manager and staff were outstanding in accommodating us through a reservation misunderstanding. this is by far the best place to stay nearby cinque terre.

This castle is almost spookily large and definitely has a feel of historic grandeur. Our room was large and well lit. Breakfast was very good. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to town. Fortunately the hotel which sits atop a hill has an elevator (very long ride down) to get to the water so no hill climbing is needed.

One of the best views on our Italian Riviera trip. The experience of staying in a castle and walking around the grounds was truly special. Our room (standard double) had a very nice view of the garden, high ceilings and a very large bathroom.

Truly a wonderful stay - fabulous hotel, fabulous hotel staff, fabulous location, fabulous coffee. Went by way too quickly. The only tiny wrinkle was that the bar and dining staff was not as professional as they could have been. The rest of the hotel and the staff were so fabulous though that this could be overlooked.
