Pros: Staff was super nice. We showed up early and were greeted by Michael. Our room wasn't ready, but he gave us ideas of things to do, with directions. They have a ton of supplies you can borrow to take to the beach, including coolers, towels, and snorkeling gear. They also have complimentary sunscreen, bug spray, and other sundries. Everyone, staff and guests, were nice. Definitely a place you won't know a stranger. Room was huge.The car ferry is just around the corner, and the people ferry and businesses are less than a 10 minute walk away. Cons: Low water pressure, but not a shock. The layout of the property is interesting, and our room ended up being just off the office. Looks like there were 3 other rooms off to the other side. This means we could hear everything happening in the office, and I assume they would be able to hear us. The pool had to be drained while we were there, because of repairs. Not sure we would have used it, but it was a bummer that it wasn't an option.Everything else: The property is older. It's not a fancy hotel. It doesn't pretend to be anything it's not. We were there only one night, but I wish it was longer. Would recommend on the basis of the staff alone.

Close to town Difficult for those with mobility issues. A lot of steps but Phillip & Jim were very helpful assisting with bags & getting us a cab at check out . Enjoyed complimentary rum punch & breakfast with other guests. Beautiful views.

First of all let me say that the owner is great. He was very helpful. However, there is a Dominican dance club across the street and it is EXTREMELY loud. Like a car with a booming system was parked in front of our room. Our floor in the room was literally shaking from the bass. I'm not one to care much about noise, but after a few hours it gets old. Plus there were beetle-looking bugs in the bathroom. It is within a short walk to restaurants, bars and shops though.

We always stay at the St. John Inn the 1st night we arrive, and the last night before we leave. It's the perfect buffer to extend your time on St. John a couple nights and it's close to town.

We've stayed at this property before, and were happy to return. There was some trepidation traveling during Covid, and with the ongoing rebuilding efforts after Maria, but as soon as we landing in Cruz Bay and walked up the hill to the Inn, we knew we were in for a great trip. Jim as very kind, welcoming and available to assist during our stay. The Inn itself is clean and amenable for what it is, it's no palace but it works very well for a beach vacation launching and retiring spot. The location right near the Dolphin market and all the restaurants makes it ideal for those looking to explore the island on foot. You don't need a jeep to get to Solomon or Honeymoon beach, and the taxis will take you further for just a few dollars. We will return as soon as we possibly can.

Great stay at a local neighborhood hotel in St. John. If you’re looking for a big resort experience then this hotel is probably not for you, but if you’re looking for great value and a great experience this is for you. Clean rooms, continental breakfast and rum punch happy hour in the evening included. Beach/snorkeling equipment available on site to borrow, friendly helpful staff. Who could ask for more?

The owner lives on the property and was very nice. The bed was comfortable and the location was good. It was only a short walk into downtown to the the shops and restaurants. The unit we stayed in could use some updating and the a/c didn’t work that great. Overall good value.

And very nice. Hotel is old but nicely maintained and lots of amenities available (towels,snorkels,chairs, life jackets,etc). Walking distance to all of the locations you want to go in the village area.

Our family of four stayed in one of their suites, which had two bedrooms. Both rooms had queen beds, a/c and ample room to move around and have bags out. One of the two rooms had a tv and there was a little cubby area between the rooms a d near the bath that had a mini-fridge, coffee maker and microwave. The shower was not large but the water pressure was good and didn’t take too long to heat up. The outdoor space was nice with lots of tables and chairs for guests to eat continental breakfast, read, or be on computer. WiFi not amazing in the rooms but good just outside on the property. The owner was very nice and had lots of information to share about the local area in terms of things to see and do and the history of the area. I would recommend this place to other travelers.

We just had a GREAT stay at St. John Inn. The owner even took the time to drive us to our ferry in the am. I would rate this place 10/10 for the price, breakfast, location, and overall vibe. We will definitely come back again!

Facilities were clean. Everything was excellent. Only issue i has climbing stairs with luggage due to my age.
Manager did offer to help upon check out. Great value for the price.

Only stayed one night in order to extend our vacation, we were very pleasantly surprised with The St. John Inn and will definitely stay the next time we travel to the island, location is great you do not need a car to get there if staying in Cruz Bay great continental breakfast and rum happy hour, rooms are large for the island we stayed in the Hawksnest room, very friendly staff. *****Book through the hotel in order to help support local owners and staff*****
