I liked that it was right in the centre of town. Close to transit stations and good restaurants.

The staff, especially the lady manager, worked so hard, from early morning to evening to keep things on track, it is a minor disappointment that the bar closed so early, but understandable without employing more staff. Our room was smaller than the one we had the previous year, although we thought we had booked using the same criteria, with only one small window set high up the wall, so no way to look outside. This didn't matter too much, as we used the room to sleep/shower in and were out most of the days. The room with fridge and safe, was clean and comfortable with good bathroom facilities. Strange that as the previous stay, there was no soap/handwash provided. Breakfast was excellent with hot and cold choices, cereal, pastries, breads etc. Our only disappointment was that we couldn't always sit in our group of four as the 'four tables' were selfishly taken by individual couples (not the hotel's fault). The hotel's location could not be bettered, situated on the main market square, within a hundred yards of numerous bars and good restaurants, and a 5 minute walk to The Menin Gate. I would readily stay here again.

This is our third visit to this hotel. Still the same for every visit, 10 stars out of ten. Will be back next year.

This is a great hotel, in a great location, with a great breakfast. I'd have loved to give it 5*. But the staff were some of the most unpleasant I've come across in 25 years of travel. Maybe I got them on a bad day, but compared to the other five hotels I stayed at in Belgium, this was like night and day. They just didn't seem to like their guests. Quite bizarre, to be honest.

In the very middle of Ypres. Perfect for our short stay!

Good clean property with a lift. Excellent breakfast. On site coffee shop. Parking is an issue as you need to use street parking some distance from the hotel which has a maximum of three hours 9am to 6pm.

The room was very comfortable, regularly cleaned and very comfortable bed. We got to enjoy the beauty of the cathedral and the marketplace from our windows. There were really great restaurants at least a minute away and chocolates galore. Great location. Free parking was about 3 mins drive and 6 mins walk back to hotel.breakfast was excellent and always fresh.

Great 1 night stay as a family here. Room was lovely, modern, clean and left shower gels etc for us. Lady on reception and lady doing the dining area/breakfast polite and helpful too. Instructions not very clear on parking so be sure to ring up in advance or email hotel as you only get 30 minutes free outside of the hotel, but there is a large market square opposite you can park at, but I did see a sign upon our exit saying you can’t park there on a specific time, so best to check out. Chocolate shop next door, restaurants and shops in walking distance as soon as you leave the hotel, access to hotel is via ramp and it has a lift and a restaurant. We visited and stayed in Ypres to see the last post which was good, but unfortunately the bridge was under refurbishment however they are doing a new exhibition which I think it due next year. Breakfast was of a good variety, hot and cold, mixed meats, sausage, eggs, beans, cereal, croissants etc. overall a pleasant stay, would recommend and would stay again.

Well after arriving to find hotel closed for reservations in January, with no responce from Expedia, Finally getti g onto customer service, to be told, we needed to prove this, then being insulted by c.s. after they rang hotel, and made out they spkoe to reception, when we know the hotel has been gutted, Very poor, unproffessional, on both expedia & hotel regina. We will be following up on our return.

There are a few good points:
The hotel is right in the centre of Ypres - a few metres away from the Menin Gate.
The hotel is of historical interest as the it was involved in the rescue of Allied airmen.
However, Hotel Regina is just not a good place to stay. The downstairs area looks ok, but the upstairs is badly maintained and dirty. No air con, dangerous windows, and scruffy carpets and furniture. The extra occasional bed was in a state. Most importantly though, in the morning we got up quite early to discover we were being bitten by small red bugs which appear to be resident in the seams near the head of the bed. I have never left a hotel so quickly in my life. It was disgusting and distressing - two weeks later I still have horrible welts all over my body. Please read all reviews before staying. We were in Room 31 - it was horrible.
I'm disappointed that a hotel of historical interest like the Regina is not being properly maintained. Owners of properties like these have a responsibility to maintain them properly. It is not enough to buy a place and then leave it to rot. Please ensure there is adequate money to properly maintain it. We chose this hotel because of it's location and historical background as I'm sure many other guests have. I'm sure guests would be willing to pay a little more if the owners sorted the rooms out and properly cared for the building.
I would absolutely not recommend it.

We had a lovely stay at The Regina, the location is great and we were 5 minutes walk from The Menin Gate (8pm Last Post Ceremony).
The Hotel itself is very stylish and we stayed in a refurbished room which was excellent. The owner Saskia couldn't have been more helpful and she told us about the plaque on the side wall, for anyone interested in WW2 history the hotel has it's own tale to tell, worth researching.

Had to find someone to check us in and check out. Denied we had a triple room until I should them our reservation. Elevator didn't stop on our floor so we had to carry luggage up an down stairs. No AC so we opened Windows but extremely noisy outside with traffic and socializing. Not worth the price.

Most aspects of the hotel were fine, however the room we were allocated (room 40) was a bit of a joke. I think it is meant to be a suite or an aparthotel, however that meant there was a double bed in the what was the bedroom, and a fold up camp bed in what passed for the lounge / kitchen. Not quite what I expected when I booked a twin room.

After viewing the room which was dusty, cracked tiles in the shower room and the fridge stunk like it had not been cleaned for weeks we felt that we could not stay especially with small children. We had been asked to pay up front without seeing the room and when asking for the money back the receptionist offered just an extremely small amount of the £130 euros we had been charged. The manager then turned up with no idea of customer service at all. She was smarmy to say the least but also had quite a nasty tone to her voice. She practically said what do you want from a 2 star hotel and that she was proud of the room she was offering. She insisted that she would not refund the charge. We have stayed in many hotels with this rating before and have had very clean rooms indeed. This experience ruined our first time in Ypres.

A few days on way back from France, hotel in an excellent position for visiting the area and has a history from WW ll, part of which with another Belgian hotel formed the basis of television series set in WW llOverall a pleasant stay with good hosts. Some rooms have been refurbished, other rooms and areas need a little TLC but, without spoiling the general atmosphere and character of the hotel.

Owner tries very hard but his staff are letting him down, bar staff to busy talking to friends instead of serving clients. Maids do not care about cleaning room properly. Telephone, Internet, hairdryer and lamp by bed did not work. Front desk staff very rud and not helpful. Parking is a huge problem, handicap would have a problem. Food menu not very versatile.

We were allocated a fabulously spacious room, with views over Market Square. The furnishings were a little tired and dated, but it was inmaculately clean, the beds were super comfy, and the heating most efficient during the very cold days we were there. The thing that set this hotel apart from any others were the hosts, Saskia and Kris. They have been in the hotel industry for years and it shows. They were most hospitable and super-friendly, and their knowledge of the area fantastic. We were having trouble getting a battlefield tour last-minute. Kris picked up the phone, and put us in touch with the fabulous Annette, who put together a tailor-made tour for us. The Hotels breakfast was also top class, with the ever-cheery Kris always close by. He never missed a beat. We also had lunch in their dining room. The vol au vents were the best - the pastry superb.
