Gasthof Furberg is in a fantastic location, great rooms overlooking lake, very helpful staff

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay in this historic, lakefront hotel! The rooms with balconies facing Wolfgangsee are charmingly appointed, and comfortable! It was so easy to take the lift downstairs to dine st the water. We had drinks and a delicious meal watching the sunset on the water. The breakfast buffet was also wonderful! Wolfgangsee is near many lovely tourist destinations; we will return

Amazing location nestled in its own little bay. Beautiful view across the lake, and a short ferry hop to other towns. Wonderful breakfasts and lovely dinner. Good hospitality all round.

Exceptional service. Clean. Magnificent lake view. Lots of hiking trails and things to do. Food was excellent

We stayed in a lake view room with balcony. We loved the amazing lake view in the day as well as the starry sky in the night. The breakfast area is somthing like my dream kitchen, fresh bread with home-made jam. Besides, we enjoy everything here, cycling to St. Gilgen, boat trip in Wolfgangsee and see around the small towns, going up to the top of the mountain by cable and have a stunning view there. If possible, I want to stay longer.

Gorgeous hotel, lovely staff - a bit disappointing that the restaurant was closed but they let me know a few days in advance and I had a picnic. Standard WiFi was terrible but they upgraded it for free. Amazing location - truly amazing place. Loved it and would go again - just not for business.

Amazing!!!

The area is beautiful (if a little sketchy to drive down to), rooms were clean and typical enough for the area. I was there on business and it is maybe not suited for this, breakfast started from 7:30 which is a bit late for me, other hotels were fine with me coming earlier and having some cereal or coffee but at check in I was told it's not possible. Day before I was due to leave I was told that actually it should be fine for me to come early and have something simple and a coffee which is nice but a little late in the stay at that point. The restaurant quality is only ok in my opinion especially for the price you are paying compared to cheaper establishments in the area, as a plus the service was friendly and good. if staying for leisure I'm sure my experience would have been more positive.

This place is wonderful; like heaven on earth. We traveled with our 3- and 1-year old. Our room was spacious and lovely. Wooden floors, comfy beds, quiet location -only grasshoppers whistling outside at night. We made walking hikes with the girls every day. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. The breakfast was superb. Fresh fruits and berries, waffles, home-made jams and you could order scrambled eggs or what ever you pleased from the kitchen. One of the best breakfastsI´ve had. And the view towards the lake and the mountains is gorgeous. Niklas was working at the morning shift and his way of taking care of guests was something to thank for. The hotel has a lovely swimming place. It´s also suitable for small children. The water is clear, clean, warm and just invites you for a swim. We also enjoyed the sauna - it´s a Finnish-style real sauna, very relaxing. There is a lovely playing area for children. It has trampoline, swing etc. And it also includes a bare-foot-path for children to experience nature with all their senses. Our daughters both liked it a lot. Sylvia is working at the reception. She was helpful and was ready to do her best for us to enjoy our vacation. All in all I would love to come back to Furbergs hospitality one day.

We spent 3 nights here and were sorry to leave. Every person on staff is wonderful. The location is perfect - tranquil and convenient. The views and amenities are amazing. Food is delicious.

What is there not to like about the Hotel Gasthof Fuerberg. It is just outside of St. Gilgen on the Wolfgangsee. The combination of a beautiful and well maintained facility, lovely grounds, a lakefront location, access to a multitude of hiking and biking options, helpful reception and, oh yes, very good food make this a wonderful choice for this beautiful area a short distance from Salzburg. Traveling with two friends, we had single rooms, and we were uniformly positive in our views of the place.

Superb hotel, clean, comfortable and in fantastic location

A fantastic hotel with great views providing food of the highest quality and staff who provide a totally customer best experience service. The staff could not have been more helpful or understanding.

Amazing place to get away from it all. We stayed there 2 nights in late September. I can say enough about how comfortable we felt. The grounds and area were great to walk and relax. The breakfast was so incredible with a variety of choices to detailed touches to make it better than the average breakfast. The diner at night was superb in which we had the Furberg fresh fish. The only knock was that the diner was a little pricey and the waiter could not explain some of the menu in English. After 2-days it was tough to leave.

This is an amazing hotel with excellent restaurant for dinner and their "free" breakfast was the best we have seen. The location is lake side in the ALPS. Absolutely stunning. I would have to say this is one of my very favorite places to stay. I wish never left.

Situated upon Wolfgangsee, but about 800m from St Gilgen, Furberg is an idyllic, quiet location for a retreat. The hotel is well maintained, the standard of rooms for this style of hotel is high. Everything clean, neat, efficient. Nice touches like branded bath towels and robes all add to the feeling of attention to detail really matters to the owners. We stayed in room 214 in the guest lodge. Alas, no lake view, as the hotel was full!!! The only issues we had were no fridge or air conditioning, which in the high summer will be an issue. Other than that, the room was excellent. Great double bed, great shower. Breakfast taken in the main hotel, and even on the terrace outside on good mornings, which is a wonderful way to start the day, lake views at breakfast! The breakfast is buffet style and extensive. There will be more than enough to get you set for the day.We didnt use the sauna, primarily because we couldnt find it! No obvious lounge area seemed a bit odd as well. The lake ferry stops adjacent to the hotel, for trips across the lake, very useful.All in all, an excellent place to come and stay. 100% reccomend it. Definitely better than staying in St Gilgen or St Wolfgang, if you crave peace and quiet.

Beautiful hotel situated on the side of Lake Wolfgangsee, The hotel staff were very friendly and always aimed to please even when we arrive very late on our first night after the restaurant kitchen was closed. The hotel is about 20 min walk along a path from St Gilgen but was right next to one of the stops for the boat which did regular trips round the lake so this made travel very easy. Overall highly recommended.

We were so happy with the location of the hotel, the condition of the room and the grounds, and the kindness of the front desk staff. The breakfast was amazing as well. We had a wonderful experience.

Can only describe this hotel has 1st class in our opinion..our little secret . Rooms/ location/ price are all extremely excellent. Every thing can be catered for among different taste. We where on a touring holiday & booked for a one night stay but ended up booking a extra night because the location was great with lots to see & do. There are bikes free of charge to use aswell as boats to laze about on the lake, there are fantastic views to admire. The main boats dock right outside the hotel & are reasonably priced they take you to the surrounding areas around the lakes ie.St Gilgen , st Wolfgang are both superb areas to explore. Our first night we stay in the a room with a forest view which was nice & comfortable. Towels for the outdoors to lounge on & bath robes are provided..our second night we where lucky to have a lake view room in the main building which we can only describe as 5* very modern amenities and a view to die for???keep up the good work very satisfied with the whole stay wished we could have stayed longer.

The scenery around the hotel is absolutely wonderful. This hotel is away from the nearest town all by itself, but it is conveniently located next to a boat dock for a boat that can take to all points on the lake. There is plenty to do close by, the Zwolferhorn cable cars, a couple of villages on the lake to go shopping if you want, and the cogwheel train to Mt. Schafberg. Because of a 20 cm snow the night before we were going to take the train to the top of Mt. Schafberg, the whole area and the train was closed. Instead we went to nearby Mondsee to see the church where Maria of the Sound of Music was married. Later we traveled about 30 km to Bad Ischl to see the Kaiservilla ( the summer home of Franz Joseph I). It was both beautiful and interesting. After the tour, we walked into the village to have lunch at a cafe on the river. Had a great time.
