What a find! Such a lovely intimate hotel , close to the mountains in gorgeous scenery. Staff were so friendly, we enjoyed a relaxing stay using the hot tub and chilling in our room. Delicious breakfast too!

Lovely hosts and location...unfortunately v rainy when we were there so couldnt take advantage of the pool etc really.

Amazing and memorable family holiday at Vilafoia. From the swift response to our email queries before we had even left home, we were made to feel welcome and this was our experience throughout our stay from all the staff. The property is exactly as it looks in the pictures online - very beautiful, clean and well maintained throughout. Our rooms were spacious, with large balconies with beautiful views of the mountains with a glimpse of the sea in the distance. We enjoyed the pool and gardens which are lovely with plenty of comfortable seating dotted all around to enjoy the views and sunshine. Breakfast was delicious, varied and plentiful with a buffet of cereals, fresh fruit, cold meats, cheeses, delicious breads, and eggs made to order. We really appreciated the honesty bar - it was lovely to come back after a day out and sit in the gardens with a drink and star gaze. Prices of snacks and drinks was incredibly reasonable e.g 13 euros for a bottle of sparkling wine. Booking system for the wonderful hot tub is a great idea - we really enjoyed the experience of having it all to ourselves. Thank you so much to the Vilafoia team for making our holiday so special.

Beautiful setting in the mountains. However the gardens and pool area were very shabby and needed a tidy up.

Fantastic property with amazing views. Great restaurants nearby. The staff could not have been any better. There fantastic hiking trails nearby that are really well marked that the staff recommended. Truly a wonderful place to spend some time.

I stayed for 2 nights in Vilafoia and wished I had stayed longer. It is a perfect place to get away from it all and to just chill out.The welcome I received was outstanding-it was clear Margarita took her job very seriously and genuinely cared that guests feel at home there. She emailed directions in advance which were easy to follow and got me there with no trouble whatsoever. Each room has a large balcony which gets the sun in the morning and is a great place to watch the sky (and the shooting stars) at night. The entire property is spotless; rooms are cleaned every day. Breakfast is of a very high standard, fresh and delivered with a smile on the patio overlooking the immaculately kept gardens. I appreciated the coffee (and tea) available in the afternoon and the use of the fridge. It’s a shame they don’t have an on-site restaurant but there are three restaurants within walking distance-which is no harm as the portions in both restaurants I visited were huge!! I would recommend VilaFoia wholeheartedly and hope to return some day in the future. It really is worth the effort of getting there. Até à próxima!Abraços, Brian

The hotel has been very clear with communication from the start. The check in was easy and convenient. (Only downside I encountered - what you will encounter in most small Southern Europe hotels - is that they make a copy of your passport which legally is not allowed by most countries. I’d recommend bringing your own copy already without your photo and social security number to avoid this). Receptionist understood why I had an issue with this and we sorted it quickly. The room had a nice balcony and relax chairs - great working AC too! It’s all a bit older and the bed was a bit hard for my taste but it totally works and was super clean. The hotel has a wonderful area around the pool where we spent a good amount of time. Even after we had checked out the management let us enjoy the rest of the afternoon there as well. The breakfast was very extensive and all very fresh. As there is COVID you are able to fill in a form on check in with what you’d like for breakfast and they did not disappoint at all! The view during breakfast is also magnificent. There is also a fridge where you are allowed to put some drinks in to enjoy for example around the pool. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - felt very welcome - and would highly recommend staying here if you like to get some peace and quiet. It has been great! What a beautiful location for a few days away. Peaceful, stunning scenery, a home away from home. You definitely need a car to get about but would recommend having a car to explore the Algarve anyway.

Wonderful stay in peaceful Monchique. Loved the location and service with fabulous views on hills above Monchique. The studio was quiet and private from the rest of the rooms and a perfect area to relax and enjoy the local hiking in the hills. Excellent service and friendly multilingual staff. Highly recommend.

Boutique like hotel. Very friendly staff, good bed and great breakfast. Floor heating makes the room a little top warm, but we opende the door to the terrace and it was fine, although not very sustainable. Turning of heating took 24 hours

Once you got there, wonderful experience with beautiful property, great views, welcoming hotel staff and terrific breakfast. Getting there difficult, up steep and winding dirt road, would not attempt access after dark.

Warm welcome. Rooms functional and clean. Parking limited to Road outside if you can get a space. Good location for station amd regular trains to Lisbon. Breakfast slightly disappointing with cheap juice and no eggs. Rooms with shared bathrooms can be noisy with other guests using the bathroom through the night and you are disturbed by footsteps on the wooden floorboards. . All in all a decent bed and breakfast but certainly not a boutique hotel.

We had a lovely stay at this excellent location. The staff was friendly, the room was clean, and we especially loved the grounds and the common area for breakfast.
