This is a truly unique boutique hotel. The staff are lovely and the beds and showers get 10/10. The location is fabulous, and so is the building. But the thoughtful and quirky touches that make it a home from home are what really gives it the edge. Sintra is a beautiful town to visit, this Chalet made it even more memorable. I wish there were more (affordable) unique places like this in the world. Don’t stay anywhere else if you visit Sintra.

Chalet Suadade is the perfect spot from which to explore lovely Sintra. It's a easy one block walk from the train station, about a block to the public bus stop, an easy spot for Uber/Bolt drivers to pick-up/drop off and within walking distance of multiple sights & restaurants. Our room was comfortable, quiet and had everything we needed. Most importantly, the staff was extremely helpful with recommendations and tips and easily accomodated both an early check-in and a request to leave our (bulky) luggage behind as we explored the sites. We stayed one night -- wish we would have stayed two to fully enjoy the comfortable and cozy common spaces and to spend a bit more time exploring, especially the surrounding neighborhood. Sintra is a special place and really deserves more time. Chalet Saudade is a easy spot to just relax and enjoy. Book it!

The most beautiful hotel with the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff. We loved our family room(s) and the balcony and views were incredible!! The only suggestion we would add is to install some more table and bedside lamps as it was either main lights on or darkness. Parents with children who sleep earlier love to have a little light to themselves. Gorgeous property overall and well appointed. Would definitely stay here again!

Staff to assist with luggage as tge room was 3 flights from the libby and no elevator or dumb waiter.

Christina was very helpful getting us oriented. We were a little disappointed that the breakfast part was not actually at the Chalet, it was up at the Saudade cafe, a short walk away. Also, there was no free coffee on premises, only tea. Why is this? Bed was comfortable and room was quiet at night, as long as guests above went to bed. Floors very creaky. This location is not very close to area attractions or old town, so there is a lot of walking on very steep hills. You need to be in shape!

Charming and lovely vintage villa beautifully refurbished while retaining its original character. Top floor suite has amazing views and all conveniences. Elena graciously took the time to orient us to the hotel and the area, with some excellent recommendations. Highly recommended!

Breakfast was delicious. Louisa at Cafe Saudade was wonderful and the whole staff at the cafe and guest house were great - made us feel comfortable.

Wonderful get away in historic district

Beautiful hotel in the center of Sintra. Close to a public parking lot and walkable to several attractions. The inn was beautiful inside, with extensive outdoor gardens, and the welcome port was appreciated! There was also an honor bar in the public lounge, where we relaxed with other travelers. Nice place, friendly service in a very beautiful town

This was the fourth hotel we stayed at on the last night of our vacation to Portugal and it did not disappoint! Such a beautiful boutique hotel with Art Deco out the wazoo! The tromp l'oeil ceilings are amazing. The rooms are comfortable and we experienced lovely hospitality. Would come back here again, but stay longer. Sintra is a beautiful place.

Delightful bed and breakfast. Walkable to restaurants, shopping, and several of the historic sites. If traveling with a total of 4 people, recommend booking the two garden view rooms which are next to each other and the garden is out the French doors. The person who checked us in was very helpful. We loved Sintra.

Very clean hotel and room, with wonderful outdoor space outback. Staff very friendly and easy to communicate with. Electric hot kettle in the room. Very comfortable bed and bedding. I only wished we stayed 2 nights instead of one.

Beautiful, old house with matching furnishings; elegant common areas, sitting room with a beautiful view of the valley Wonderful and helpful staff. The room itself was rather small and cramped with no sitting area or a desk. the hot water in the bathroom was just lukewarm and down to almost a trickle.

This is a quirky hotel. Our room was great but there’s no elevator so it’s up to you to haul your suitcase up and down. Breakfast was across the street because the kitchen is being renovated. We paid for a parking space so we were right outside the gate. Staff very friendly and helpful and location excellent.

The Chalet is very well located. It’s walking distance to the historic district, many restaurants and the train station from which you can get the on/off bus to see all the major sights

This lovely cottage is conveniently located in Sintra, close to castles, botanical gardens and wonderful restaurants. The highlight was the wonderful service provided by Caterina. She was so warm and friendly, and took the time to show us a map with recommendations for tourism and food options. She speaks perfect English. They offered a free gift of port wine and a “honesty” snack area for convenience. There is a cute fenced in garden area. Warning, this is an old building with narrow stairs. Not accessibility friendly for those with mobility issues.

The Chalet Saudade was a dream! I would go back in a heart beat. Friendly staff, central location, and beautiful grounds. Our room was clean, convenient, and updated. We slept like babies.

Sintra was a beautiful city to visit. And Chalet Saudade was a wonderful hotel. Our room and the veiw was amazing, and it was very conveniently located to restaurants, shopping, and transportation. The included breakfast is at their cafe less than a block away and was a very charming cafe with great food.

It's absolutely charming and convenient to all of Sintra. Beautiful historic home with modern amenities and great charm. We were welcomed and felt like valued guests. Great sleep!

A spectacular property with amazing rooms. No elevator but staff very helpful with you bags. Any “climb” is well worth it. Ideal location.

The property is a guest house. There is no elevator and the breakfast is served off property at a café around the corner. The reception is not staffed at night. The room was spacious. We had the suite. It would be perfect for a small family because there was a sofa bed. It was a little stark for a romantic get away. The bathroom was very minimalist and the shower wasn't functioning properly. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. The location is excellent for visiting the town.

There were flying ant type of bugs in our room which was unpleasant. Otherwise clean but I wouldn’t stay again, I would do a day trip from Cascais as there are s no night life, in Cascais restaurants open for dinner at 7, here everything closes as 7 so we had potato chips for dinner. Parking was confusing and I am glad we only stayed one night.

Amazing place to stay. The hotel is 140 years old but looks like new with all the nice renovations they did. However, you can appreciate the history at every cormer of the building. It has so much to tell and they made it even richer with all the small decoration details that you found all over. The place feels so quiet and private, but at the same time the staff is ready to help you when needed. I would definitely stay there again many times.
