Was quiet and relaxing

Front desk lady was very friendly, room was very wierdly laid out, washroom was just toilet and tub with the sink in the main room. AC didnt work much in the main room, where as there was a portable one in the bedroom. The door was broken between the main room and the bedroom so wouldnt lock closed. There were some yellow stains on the bedding, and a few little bugs in the bathroom.

Our stay at South Hill Motor Inn was nothing short of a nightmare. We found cockroaches and bedbugs on the mattress and under the bed, which is completely unacceptable for any hotel. When we contacted Hotels.com about this issue, all they offered was a measly $25 refund—not even a full refund for the booking. Adding insult to injury, the front desk lady blamed us, claiming that the roaches were attracted by berries we brought into the room. For the record, those berries remained in the fridge the entire time. I am outraged by this experience and strongly advise against staying here.

Breakfast was well done

Our stay was okay. They moved rooms around so we could be next to our friends, which was really nice of them. There were just a few small things. The bags for ice were much too small for the buckets and for the ice. The lobby bathroom had no toilet paper or soap. The breakfast nook is an old room turned into a breakfast area (great idea, but pretty tight for the number of people that were in there). Emergency exit doors at each end of the hallway were propped open most of the time, and one was open all night. Our room smelled like it had been smoked in and the first floor smelled like it had been smoked in overnight. During breakfast the woman working came in and told us to check our beds because she’d found bedbugs this morning.

The staff was friendly.

I’m a 75 yo woman travelling alone to an unfamiliar city. This motor inn had an 8 rating on Expedia. Lobby was large and empty. To check in I had to ring the desk bell. An elderly woman appeared, checked me in only to find out there was no elevator to 2nd floor and no offer for help with my suitcase. Tub was very slippery and I had to use a towel to stand on for fear of falling. When checking out, once again had to ring the bell, then use the lobby phone to call as instructed by a note posted on the acrylic desk shield and waited for several minutes for someone to appear. A man appeared to explain the absence of (I’m assuming) owner (older woman) and took my key. The room furnishings were old and the floor felt uneven but on the plus side, the bed was comfortable and the room had an air conditioner.

Everything was great and clean. But the bed is slopped to the head board and only one pillow so I felt like I was sleeping upside down.

Great owners flight was delayed but they stayed open till we arrived

Appears to be an older building but well maintained and clean. And very affordable price. Would stay here again.

Clean, quiet and the location is good.

Very nice front desk staff! The area is kind of hard to get to, though, unfortunately. Lots of one way streets, roundabouts and no direct access to the road the hotels and businesses are on in this area. Had to drive PAST the hotel several times when out and about before being able to get to it due to lack of access streets. On a main freeway too so quite noisy outside, but inside the building isnt too bad. Room is spacious and clean.

We enjoyed our short stay at South Hill Motor Inn. It was clean and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The continental breakfast was good. Excellent value for the price. We'd stay here again. Thank you Young.

It was a company trip and an employee stayed at the hotel. I had no complaints so I can only presume the hotel was decent enough.

This hotel is a bit dated but was very clean and provided all the necessities for my stay including a clean and comfortable bed, a clean bathroom with plush towels, a fridge and microwave, a comfortable table to work and dine in the room, and a great breakfast.

Mid day checkin, no staff at counter. They were sleeping and as directed we had to use a lobby phone to call the front desk to wake them? Room did NOT feel secure. Still used locks requiring actual keys and our key barely worked. Staff had to tell us how to hold the key at a certain angle to actually make it work in the lock. The room itself was very clean and beds were average for comfort. Furniture was all very dated. Only one plug in of the two plug electrical outlet worked by the bed which seemed like a fire hazard?! Breakfast was ok. Cereal, muffins, toast, some fruit and yogurt. Overall its condition matched the price which was cheaper than most other hotels/inns/motels in the area I guess.
